This place way exceeded my expectations.
Firstly, it’s a lovely space. Dog friendly too.
We ate off the a la carte menu (pictured). I had the soft shelled crab to start and the octopus as a main.
I’ve rarely seen soft shelled crab on a menu in the UK & when I’ve seen & tried it it’s been poor so I ordered more in hope than expectation. It was superb. Crisp, sweet and succulent. The accompanying green salad was a great accompaniment.
The main octopus dish was incredibly tender, in my opinion they shouldn’t bother with the King Prawn & squid as it distracts from the sheer quality of cooking & taste of the octopus.
We shared a dessert of almond & marmalade cake with almond biscuits & ice cream. I’m not a big dessert fan as I don’t have a sweet tooth but this was good. I’d have chosen a cheeseboard of local Yorkshire & Lancashire cheeses if that had been an option.
I’ve just moved to this area & will come back to eat here again.
Myself and my partner visited last night for my birthday and were absolutely blown away. We ate upstairs on the a la carte menu, we had the salmon and grilled cauliflower as mains and just wow. We didn’t want the meal to end!!! We asked the waitress to give compliments to the chef. Gorgeous venue, the staff were all so smiley welcoming and attentive. I will be recommending this place to everyone I speak to!!!! Thank you again we most certainly will be back :)
Guest ales and cocktails. The espresso martini is 2die4. The full English breakfasts was excellent. Recommended booking a table although there plenty. The staff couldn't do enough for us.
Just great food and ambiance. I always have lunch here when I visit. The restaurant was refurbished by a television show in the last year. We shared a vegetarian mezze and a carafe of merlot which followed a prosecco. We had a range of tasty dishes which we thoroughly enjoyed. They will close after Christmas. Looking forward to coming back in the not too distant future.
Fantastic little place in Hebden Bridge. Lovely fresh food made here. A few real ales at the bar .. great cocktails .. great g&ts. Just a lovely place to be in. Nice friendly staff too 🍺😊👍
Faultless.
Starter, Lamb lollipop was beautifully balanced with berries and polenta chips which were a tad bland, but that's the only minor thing I could find to criticise during the whole meal.
Mains of a perfectly cooked Filet mignon, with golden beetroot and richly sumptuous jus.
Finishing off with a Lemon semifredo, bottle of lovely Sauvignon Blanc and a pint of local beer.
Everything fresh, perfectly cooked and served with attention to detail.
Add to that non pretentious friendly human staff and a dual Sunday discount making this truly blinding value.
Can't fault this place.
The food here is amazing! I had a home made soft drink of strawberry and rhubarb which was very refreshing.
My partner, Col had the steak sandwich which was excellent and I had the Scarborough sausage and crispy bacon on sourdough bread with mushrooms and tomato. We have to say that every mouthful was heavenly. Definitely a place worth the visit. Excellent service by staff 😊
Absolutely fantastic. Popped in for lunch and we were greeted nicely whilst a table was cleared for us. They have a great menu to choose from and fantastic drinks. The food took a slight bit of time but not ages which could be expected from a small local business. When it came it was presented incredibly well and the taste was just brilliant. Best place in town.
Bright, friendly and efficient service. The belly of pork was cooked to perfection (body tender and well-seasoned, crackling removed to ultimate crisp) and enough to feed 4. I wish I'd had room for delicious-sounding desserts. The S African red was decent - it would have been good to have one more wine by the glass.
The food here was absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive, even letting me know that there was a little bit of a wait for the food despite it actually turning up in under half an hour.
They gently highlight their ethical considerations during your experience so I learned that they source their ingredients locally and use an optional 99p addition to the bill to help cover the carbon footprint of your meal.
There's so much to love about this restaurant, I can't wait to return in future.

Very varied menu caters for different tastes, combination of fresh ingredients used for different meals. Loved the prawn starter and burger, possibly nicest I've ever had..the tacos were gorgeous. Service brilliant, friendly and efficient. What more would you want. This young couple have got it just right
Fabulous choice to make up a delicious platter from a great range of items. Bread, oils, fish or meat, olives etc. 20% off if you choose at least three each and a drink on certain days of the week. Great quality and value. Recommended. Looking forward to the next visit.
I went for brunch here and although the service was great and the food was nice, I felt that it was overpriced for what the dish actually consisted of. There is also a 99p carbon charge is automatically added to the bill. I'm not against this, however it should be optional at the point of paying the bill given the already higher price of the food.
What a pleasure as always! Fabulous food choices, beautifully presented, so tasty and amazing value for money. First rate service and attention from welcoming and attentive staff. Lovely place! It's rare to find a place where no matter what everybody's eating preferences are they are all catered for in style! Pick and mix platters, home made soup, burgers, pasta.... and so on... AND then no issues with GF or vegan choices either! Rounded off with beautiful raspberry and almond cake. Also perfect for group get togethers. Had an awesome family Christmas gathering here and a most enjoyable works shindig here too! Come and see for yourselves! Highly recommended 👍👍👍👍👍💕
I've eaten in many places, and consider myself lucky to have tried some excellent restaurants over the years. I am struggling to think of anywhere as good a Chapter 17 for the food.
Go for the platters. Get everything.
It's a wee bit pricey on balance but the food is top notch. Hence the empty plates!
