Review The Cotton House - Helmshore

What a find. I've driven past it a million times but never visited. I wanted to go for lunch with my husband for my birthday and he suggested it here. We did book as it was a Friday afternoon. We chose the plant room. We visited just after it opened at 2.30pm. The menu was good and suitable for myself as a vegetarian but I do eat fish. The venue itself was very clean and tidy. The decor is very nice indeed. The food was excellent, we had three dishes and we enjoyed them all. The portion size was generous. The one thing that really did wow us was the service from the three servers that had dealt with us. The timings were perfect, service was just impeccable. We couldn't fault them at all. The owners should be proud of having these three lads working for them. We will certainly be back for sure and be recommending this place to our friends

We were recommended this place by our Airbnb host at a nearby treehouse and so came for a Sunday roast. We both ordered the beef roast, and were blown away by the quality of it. The beef itself was delicious and perfectly cooked, the potatoes and veg were great and the gravy was to die for. We consider ourselves pretty well versed in the world of roasts, and this was one of the best that we’ve had in a while. The staff were lovely, and really attentive, too. Highly recommended!

Great place. “Discovered” on our first night staying here and just kept coming back. Food is excellent, really good value for money and very tasty. Wine very, very good. Only area for improvement from us would be more veggie options on the menu, but totally get that the local market may not desire it.

Just been in this afternoon for the first time with some friends & thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, what a gem of a place! The food was excellent, along with the service & atmosphere. Definitely coming back.

I went for the first time last night with my wife, we had been meaning to go for a while and were not disappointed. The manager chatted to use for a while and made us feel very welcome so thank you (sorry I didn’t catch your name). My wife had a couple of cocktails which she enjoyed very much and I sampled a German lager I had never heard of but it was spot on. The place is very well presented and perfect for those who want somewhere a bit extra for a drink, next time we will try the food as the menu looked great. Nice to see a great building being put back into a good use. EDIT: We have just been back and tried the food. As you can see I review the odd place here and there but this was up there in my top 5 meals ever bought. It was tremendous from start to finish, I eat until I could eat no more. Staff were brilliant once again and service was excellent. Thank you all so much.

Gorgeous meal out with a cosy table in the fire room and excellent attentive service. We had the squid rings, steak frites and lamb, all absolutely delicious, totally worth the price (£15-19/meal). Good range of beers / gins / wine available and took advantage of 2 for 10 cocktails 8pm-10pm. Smart layout with lots of rustic wood and good lighting, would definitely recommend and would go back again!

Great food and although the service was a bit slow (explained as a staff member calling in sick) it didn't detract from what was a great meal - the salt and pepper squid was a revelation

Had a lovely meal with wine last night. The food, wine and service was excellent. It was Zac first night as manger, he did a great job, nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend. The menu always has something a little bit different/special to a regular pub menu.

The venue, location, service and food gorgeous!! We could take our dog where they allow in the deck room overlooking the river! Family friendly, beautifully finished We booked the whole venue for my husband's 50th and they were amazing! Upstairs area with own bar, private entrance and toilets. The food for 60 people sublime! The guests have not stopped talking about it. Mark, Adam and Harvey went above and beyond. Such a beautiful place. Linen and flowers on the tables, nothing too much trouble, if a drink not available upstairs they went downstairs to get. Mark tour establishment rocks and definitely back for next do! Our go to for family Sunday lunch after walks, date nights and big get togethers. You nailed it!!

Our first visit to The Cotton House and certainly not our last. Lovely atmosphere, great food, and attentive staff - what more do you want.

Superb. What a wonderful place, especially for a wedding party! First visit. Lovely outside seating area overlooking the stream with ducks and ducklings. Inside is quirky and individual, right down to the loos!!!! Good food, lots of beers to choose from, good coffee and super staff. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole time. Thank you.

Brilliant food. First time we have eaten in at the cotton house and it certainly won't be the last. The chicken gyros were amazing. Great staff too and their efforts toward the covid guidelines are great felt very safe

Today was a difficult day for me and my son. My mum passed away on the 6th March. However, our waitress was lovely! I'm sorry that I didn't get her name but she was blonde. My son & I were both emotional & were given time to order. My son ordered the pork belly as a starter & wanted the sea bass but not with vegetables so he was allowed to have a side salad instead. I had the broccoli soup & lamb shoulder. Everything was beautifully cooked. We couldn't finish our meal & was allowed to take home home our left overs. What an absolutely wonderful restaurant run by lovely people! They were understanding about our situation & allowed us to take our time. Highly recommended!

Staff very attentive and friendly - food was delicious, we had the Ribeye and Beef cheek and both were cooked perfectly. The place itself is a really nice setting and very welcoming.

Absolutely fantastic, cracking food and atmosphere. Great for my son too, and very friendly staff. I'm thinking a kid free visit to test the beer is in order!.

Spent New Year here with friends. We chose battered fish and steak. The staff were very helpful and friendly advising on their cocktails and the food hot and tasty. Never had a disappointing evening yet.

We called in on Sunday for drinks and ended up ordering food as well. Fabulous selection of gins and the bar staff were very knowledgeable about the selection, making recommendations and knowing where each respective gin came from and how it should be served. The food was amazing, roast beef special was extremely well cooked, very tender and a decent sized portion. Crab burger was delicious too and the cookie and ice cream was yummy. The only thing I could pick on was that the ice cream could have been better quality - cheap versus proper vanilla and you could tell. Staff very attentive - just the right amount of service. All in all, a really good afternoon out. We'll definitely be back.

Great staff, great food. Was surprised to see a vegan option on the menu but I can honestly say it was the best vegan curry I have ever had. Will definitely be coming again!

Went for a Birthday meal last night and loved the atmosphere with super friendly staff and modern, cosy vibe. The food and cocktails were great and we were pleasantly surprised at the portion sizes for the price! We will be back again soon! ���

This area has needed a place like this for a long time and now finally has it!! Love the decor instead, great selection of drinks and amazing food!! I highly recommend this establishment for locals and anyone visiting the area!

Had a lovely breakfast this morning, the food was delicious. The venue is amazing and the atmosphere is perfect for dining and / or drinking. All the staff are very professional and attentive. We will certainly be visiting again very soon, we can’t wait to try more of the menu!

Called in for the first time Sunday night and was very impressed with everything. Food was delicious staff very helpful and welcoming . Lovely to have somewhere contemporary on the doorsreport at long last. Highly recommend

Lovely place to have a drink and a slice of cake in the beer garden next to the river as a stop off mid walk with the dogs.

Only been twice but I love it here! The service is great, staff are very friendly and I appreciate somebody coming round to check if you are okay and if you would like another drink � nice to have a new place to go in Helmshore, especially one that's so cosy and current.

Had a lovely brunch at the Cotton House yesterday. Making a vegetarian and a vegan version of the full English was no problem for them at all. �� Lovely place.

Been in a few times but never eaten so gave it a go ... All was good , little busy vibrant place
