Absolutely loved our meal tonight the portions were huge! We had a steak and ale pie with plenty of chips and choice of peas! Husband demolished every bite. I ordered toad in the hole,I could not finish it! Absolute value for money. Decent pub. Decent food if yr calling in for the first time or a regular customer I highly recommend. Also like to say the lady behind the bar was very friendly and attentive we will back.... great !!!

Been a number of times here for a meal as we can take our dog in. Everytime barring the last one has been great. The last time I left a unhappy review as the pizza Base was over done, the chips wasn't great and Yeh, overall poor. Nearly put us off altogether thinking it's changed staff but yesterday we decided to give it one last chance. Wow glad we did, I had the double bacon cheese burger which came with fries and a side salad. It tasted looovly and can recommend it. Off back to our caravan in Pickering again in 4 weeks and will definitely be going back. well done all.

Called in yesterday for s spot of lunch and we were greeted by the owners who were very friendly. Told us a little bit of history about the beautiful old bar while we waited for our food. Home cooked food was gorgeous and very generous portions I had scampi hubby had steak pie. There were about 15 pieces of scampi and the pie was packed with steak. Will definitely be back next time we're in the town. Oh and dogs are warmly welcomed too and even get a treat x

I knew it was a dog friendly pub, however, I didn't expect my dog to be made as welcome as she was and to be treated like she was just as important as us! She was fed dog biscuits and was given a bowl of water along with lots of love! Highly recommend 😊

My friend Rob and his family have just taken over this lovely place. Cannot recommend it enough your guaranteed a warm and friendly atmosphere and a home away from home whether it's just good pub food or a place to stay that your after. Lovely family and definitely worth joining them for a drink (or maybe 2 they are from 'boro'!)

Was just a spur of the moment stay, looking for a dog friendly pub and what a find. The owners and staff couldn't of done anymore for us. Millie loved the attention and the sausages the following morning. The room was spotlessly clean, as with some dog friendly places they smell of dogs, not the royal oak. Also the little touches like a tassimo with lots of choices, still and sparkling water and cream for your coffee. We've definitely found our bolthole for a quick get away. We'll done guys, see you soon. Wayne,Wendy&Millie.

This is a very friendly hotel and pub. We stayed for 3 nights in a comfortable room with our dog Sidney and he was made to feel welcome too. He even had sausages for breakfast! Our breakfast was also most satisfying and set us up nicely for the day. Our hosts genuinely cared about our stay and loved our doggy. Yes we will be back here :)

After the last time we went and weren't that impressed, we decided to give it another try as we have been going on and off for four years when caravaning in Pickering. We were very pleased the food was delicious and not only we were treat well but even Sandy our beloved dog got lots of hugs. Very impressed will be going again soon 😀

Kommen gerne wieder! (Translated by Google) The spare ribs are awesome! Kitchen with heart. Friendly and courteous staff. When other restaurants didn't offer us space due to a lack of reservations, they always looked for a solution here. Atmosphere is very familiar. Happy to come back!

Came here for an evening meal. I had the soup of the day, potato and leak with a bread roll. Tasted good. Unfortunately, butter was rock hard and wouldn't spread. The main course was breaded chicken with fries, side salad and coleslaw. Coleslaw looked unfortunately uneatable and looked like it had sat in the kitchen all day. Beer was good and reasonably priced compared to other pubs nearby. Big let down for me, no Heniz ketchup or HP sauce just cheap sauce. I had to go to the Co-op across the road to get quality sauce. Often, it's the little things that help everything taste much better

We called in on a Friday afternoon and it was just busy enough for me. The barman was friendly and the beer was good. There was racing on the telly but not too loud. I would recommend this pub for atmosphere and service. Didn’t eat so can’t comment on the food. Nice locals pub and I would call again if I’m in the area

We popped in for a quick drink. Warm and friendly welcome. Reasonable priced drinks. Have a TV and they had the horse racing on, which was a plus for us but might not suit others. They have a small, cute dog, which was very friendly. He came and sat on my knee. Told that it is fully dog friendly, including bedrooms. Again not a problem for us, but might not suit everyone. Will call in again, had a buzzing vibe which was lovely.
