Review Chippy Chippy - Holyhead

Popped in whilst we were in Holyhead. Hubby and I had a cone of chips and a small cod each (to take out). Absolutely delicious 😋! Everything freshly cooked. The batter on the fish was light and crispy, and the fish white and very tasty. The chips crisp on the outside, soft in the middle. Absolutely perfect, and reasonably priced too. The staff were very friendly too. Highly recommendable.

Very good Fish and Chips!!! Large portion, fresh fish ,tasty fries . When U entering shop you can smell that they change frying fat regularly,not like in Dublin! Good value. Staff very friendly , John encourage me to have my fries 🍟 with vinegar for the first time , he gave me sample 👋👋😁. Highly recommended!!!!

Called in for fish and chips before boarding the ferry and I'd have to say I'll be calling every time I'm back in Holyhead. The food was absolutely amazing and good value. Portions excellent and the fish was to die for. Well done ladies!!!

Was here last week. For a family of six some of the best fish and chips I've ever had. The staff were lovely and very friendly. Made fresh to order. Will be back next time we arw in Holyhead.

First time here, having never finding it open when I was passing through Holyhead. So pleased today, perfect timing and fantastic food! I had cod goujons and small chips, my hubby ordered regular cod and chips. Mushy peas and scrumptious fruity curry sauce to share 😋 Best we have had on Anglesey! We will be back!

Best fish & chip shop in holyhead, nothing gets anywhere near it. The cod in batter is to die for also the SPAM IN BATTER O.M.G fantastic. Very highly recommended. Definitely my chippy eventide I park my truck up in holy.

Popped in for lunch after a long coastal walk with the dog. Fish, sausage, and chips were all excellent. Good portion, perfectly cooked, and a damn good eat. Highly recommend this place.

We're looking for lunch and came across this shop whilst leaving holyhead. What a treat, very helpful staff, all freshly cooked food, great fish and chips, but even better chips and curry. Made a further trip back a couple of days later as we had enjoyed the food so much

Updated June 2023: Every time I visit this magical island a highlight is my Hippy Chippy ‘pilgrimage’ This place deserves to have every possible award, large cod small chips mushy peas home made tartare sauce with lashings of salt (don’t start!) n vinegar, then tuck in on the train back to London. Added photos from my June 2023 visit. So if you ever visit don’t leave without your freshly cooked meal from this Chippy. UPDATED 1st Nov 2021: Could not resist a return visit on 28th Sep this time for a massive takeaway to have on a Virgin Train after visiting my sister again. When visiting I always insist that 'The Chippy' is not to be missed. This time in addition to my standard LARGE cod, chips & mushy peas I had gravy & a personal first: Battered Mars Bar - OMG I am salivating right now at 01.03hrs as I write this review! Well done on your first year, and for being so creative with your menu - Coleslaw, Battered Oreo's, Jaffa Cakes, Black Pudding, Pea Fritters - we just don't get any of these in our London & South East Chippies. So looking forward to my next visit during Christmas when I will be up again - you just can't keep me away!

Fantastic fish and chips here. Really fresh and tasty! The curry sauce was excellent too. Queues and distancing all handled well. You can phone your order in ahead of time 👍🏻

Had a small cod and regular chips from here on Saturday before heading for the ferry. Service was friendly (order inside, collect from the hatch). It took a little while but they were incredibly busy. Short walk up the road and had my food looking out at the sea. Very tasty chips and lovely cod with a nice batter.

This is a takeaway, so no seating or dining in. We normally go to a closer chippy up the road to us, but felt we were short-changed on portion sizes the last time, so came here. Very glad we did. A large fish & chips did more than enough for two of us, so this will be our new go to for Friday nights.

Fantastic chippy. Busy which is always a good sign. Chips were hot and delicious, not greasy at all. Cod was cooked perfectly, no soggy bottom on the batter just lovely crispy batter all around. Peas also spot on. The price is comparable to other chip shops and the portion size was good, not the biggest but enough that I could only just finish and I'm a big guy. Recommended to me by a local and she was good in her judgement. Will definitely visit again next time we are up on Anglesey. They also take card which is a bonus

Got 4 regular fish, chips and mushy peas meals which were all boxed up for convenience. The meals were very generous and we struggled to finish them. The fish is cooked fresh and I can honestly say that this is the best chippy that I have ever been to. Really great food and staff and Highly recommended. If you live in Holyhead or just visiting you have to get fish and chips from here!

This could be a long review. I have irritable bowel syndrome this means that I have to follow a very restricted diet called the low fodmap diet. This means I have to restrict or eliminate intake of the following common foodstuffs amongst others - milk, gluten, chickpeas, legumes etc. I am on holiday in the area so I called on 'spec'. My default position is normally to order gluten-free fish and chips but always to check the ingredients of the batter just to ensure that there is nothing else in the batter, I checked with the owner who advised me gluten-free batter contained chickpeas - this meant that I couldn't have this because I have an even more severe reaction to chickpeas than to gluten. The chip shop is not allowing customers into the store (this was stated to be) because of Welsh government advice, therefore ordering was done at a window in the street and I had to wait at a second window to receive my food, overall this was a miserable experience because of the weather and the cold, however if I was a regular customer the business has an app which you can order from to avoid the need to wait. Obviously as a visitor I was not aware of this and the restaurant cannot do a lot about the weather, it's more important to keep the staff/customer interactions to a minimum. Due to the chickpeas in the batter I decided to order standard battered fish and gluten-free chips and mushy peas, because the chips were cooked specially this meant a wait of about 20 minutes, once the food was ready the order was dispatched to me efficiently and I was quickly on my way to the holiday park. The food was well wrapped, however during the 15 minute car journey it had cooled significantly so I popped it in the oven for a few minutes to bring it back to temperature. Overall the batter was crispy and delicious, the fish was a good generous portion and again delicious, the chips were not greasy and were tasty, finally the mushy peas were a little bit wet but again very tasty. The whole meal was very enjoyable and I have had no ibs impact. I wish to emphasise that I am not in any way criticising the business - I am simply offering this information to anybody has similar issues to me where the default position of just ordering gluten-free is not necessarily the safest option for the stomach. would I return - yes was it value for money - yes was a food appetising - yes thank you Chippy Chippy
