It is our refuge from rubbish eateries where much is promised and not delivered. The Baytree rocks!! Food to die for....oh my the cheesy leek flan....the cous cous.....the meringues.....never ever had a bad meal in it.

I moved to Northern Ireland in August 1998, but before moving I read an article about The Bay Tree in a magazine and how it was a jewel in Northern Ireland's crown, so on moving there I just had to visit, and it became my all time place to eat!!!
Breakfast and Lunch was always a treat for the 10years that I lived over there!!!
Nowhere in the world makes Cinnamon Scones like The Bay Tree, they are delicious!!!
When visiting Northern Ireland iit my "must go to place" and have to purchase "Take Away" Cinnamon Scones to bring back to England!!!
Lovely lovely place!!! :)

I am lucky enough to work opposite The Bay tree.
The food is consistently excellent and the staff are really helpful, professional and friendly.
Today Jenny from Go made me an amazing Pulled Gammon, Smoked Cheese and Pineapple Salsa Panini. Totally delicious!

Love this coffee shop/restaurant! Have been lots of times and never disappointed. The warm lentil, goats cheese and walnut salad was delicious (as was the ploughmans lunch that my husband had). We finished it off with delicious apple/plum cinnamon crumble and excellent coffee. Staff v friendly and helpful.

Just been for lunch and it was absolutely beautiful! I had the lemongrass chicken burger with ‘napa slaw and my husband had the brunch special. It was gorgeous, and full of flavour. My only complaint? More of those delicious handcut chips please! Thanks all.

Really excellent food and service in a cosy cafe down a hidden alley in Holywood. We were so impressed by the depth of flavour of our dishes, and the fact that they had such an excellent and creative set of vegetarian options (rare in NI!). Will definitely be back.

2 of us are here at the Bay Tree during lunchtime on a Wednesday - we both got a main and a soft drink - the variety of mains was great - all very unique and original options. I can't even remember the name of the dishes so I won't butcher them - but the food here was phenomenal! 10/10 the staff were also extremely friendly, charismatic and super efficient - will be there again when we visit Holywood again!

Really nice little cafe with a very interesting menu. The cinnamon rolls are apparently a speciality. They are delicious, but very hefty! Best shared between a few people than tackled solo!

Had a beautiful lunch here with a friend. Friendly staff and delicious food. Brief wait and both indoor and outdoor seating. A+

Good wee cafe. Like most there are not a lot of soft furnishings to dampen the noise and echo. It would be great to see some decent sound dampers to award this place 5 stars.

If I could give them 10 stars for their cinnamon scones I would. The coffee's pretty good too!

Staff are always friendly and helpful.

Al fresco today, as the inside tables were all occupied in this ever- popular landmark cafe in Holywood. Tried the Babaganoush dish, flatbread with a little of the aubergine caviar, as it's sometimes described. Two perfectly poached eggs, finely sliced beetroot, some crumbled feta, and dukkah (a mix of nuts and seeds) completed the line-up. The portion size of the babaganoush was tiny, maybe two teaspoons. For £10.50, I expected more. But very enjoyable as a Saturday brunch dish. Enjoyed a chilled glass of a wine called Ugni Blanc from Gascony, France, suggested by our hard-working server (small glass £8.50, large glass £10.50). I should mention that the service was very good, friendly, helpful, but a bit run off their feet. There were eight of us, and we were pretty demanding, but nothing we required was too much trouble. Coffee (av £3.20) and Cinnamon Scones (£3.20) are very popular. The menu is full of interesting dishes which I would definitely return to try e.g. Spicy Peanut Scrambled Eggs, and the Cajun Tempura Fish Sandwich. Overall, the Bay Tree is a very good reason to visit Holywood, to prepare for a few enjoyable hours checking out the charity shops (beautiful window displays) and high-end boutiques. It's open every day, doesn't take bookings, and offers dinner on Friday evenings.

Great place for a bite to eat. There's always a good selection on the menu and I've not had a bad experience there yet.
They also frequently do events like tastings etc, see the publicity in the restaurant to find out what is coming up. I've not been to one, but if they are as good as the normal service I don't think you'll go far wrong.
One last thing, their cinnamon buns are about the best around - and well worth picking some up from the little kitchen opposite the restaurant door, if it's not open you can just buy them to take away from the restaurant.
To find the restaurant just had up the little alley off the main road, and there is a car park at the back - although it fills up fast so you may need to find a spot on the road.
