Review The Schoolhouse Restaurant And Hotel - Hook

Loverly hotel and restaurant on the west outskirts of Swindon. Fantastic old building adds to the atmosphere. Staff were welcoming and attentive. Menu offered a varied selection to suit most tastes. Quality of food was excellent and portion size very adequate. We did not stay, just booked the restaurant for a small family gathering, we were all impressed. Looking forward to going back.

Awful - we were confined like prisoners to our rooms. Restaurant, bar, and hotel grounds all out of bounds. V dated, dark and depressing. We left one night early from our 3 night stay. The only upside was the lovely breakfast (dropped off outside our room to eat in there) and the views of cows in a field from our windows. We would never go back

Fantastic Place, Food is always good, Karen and Tonny are great hosts. The rooms aren't the usual corporate fair, which means if you like that this probably isnt for you, on the other hand if you like an interesting building, with good transport links, good access to local area along with a great restaurant and lovely people. Try this one out.

Quirky, time warp or simply run down - you decide. The bar which included the lounge seating was closed. Drinks were supplied to rooms meaning no chance to chat with other guests - or be comfortable. Breakfast was good, evening meal was very odd with Michelin prices. Eat up the road! Easily walkable. Lovely dining room, but cold in February!I was not given the option to review my account, the extras had already been charged to my card. I did get a receipt emailed later.

Quiet and peaceful location but close to the M4 junction 16. You get a very friendly welcome and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms could use a little updating but they are warm, good size and clean. Would thoroughly recommend.

What a lovely hotel! Beautiful rooms in an old school building, country-style, very warm, kind and hospitable hosts. Great choice of delicious breakfast plates and an even more delicious dinner cooked by the host with local products. And the nicest of Fred!

Excellent Hotel full of character. Very welcoming and friendly staff especially Siobhan at Breakfast, who was so lovely. The food was home cooked and very tasty. Bedrooms of a high standard too. We will definitely be back. Thank you to you all.
