Was a good location next to the station and we had a wedding nearby and was easy to arrange a taxi for. The hotel is very basic but the rooms are clean and have what you need. The place is just generally tired and the walls are very thin so we could hear someone coughing next door all night.
We had lunch which was very slow but was lovely food once it arrived and also breakfast which was lovely and this was much quicker.
Not sure I would stay here again but it was ideal for what we needed and good value for money compared to other places in the area.

Great place to stay, we stayed 1 night, had our dog with us, room in ground floor was a bit dated as was receprion , but had everthing we needed. Great shower plenty of hot water,comfy bed, fantastic breakfast served in the restaurant/ bar, we also had an evening meal there, staff were lovely and attentive especially Calum.

Kind and tentative waitress to start, she must have gone on break or finished for the day because after she served us no one checked on us and we needed to flag someone down to pay the bill. Beautiful front to the building. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant area we sat at helped by some beautiful sunshine.

Stayed here with friends. Lovely friendly pub with a great atmosphere. Food lovely, friendly staff. Rooms cleaned daily. Lots of choice for breakfast, and the chef cooked me perfect poached eggs!

Really nice rooms and comfy beds. The food is great and the drinks are very reasonable, under £5 a pint. Breakfast is really good too. Bar staff are very friendly. Can't fault the raven at all.

The bar staff are extremely welcoming, efficient and friendly. I often use this bar as my local, great atmosphere and the clientele is generally of a good standard which makes for a very pleasurable visit. The one downside are the male toilets ( I cannot say about the female toilets!) They are not checked and are filthy with the floor often flooded.

Booked 2 rooms for the family for 1 night. Good location, easy parking. Lots of hot water and rooms warm. Staff were very helpful and a great curry restaurant opposit. Great, friendly atmosphere in the pub.

The Wedding Reception was a perfect end to a special day for my Son and his lovely new Wife, Alan and Lou. The food was tasty and moreish, the Ale at the bar was one of my Favourites "Old Speckled Hen" (other beers are available). Wedding Breakfast Room was looking stunning. All was spot on, but now I must go down a little bit. We stayed the night. The room was comfortable and well presented. Sad to say it let its self down a wee bit. We inherited the previous guests rubbish in the bin in the Bathroom and there was quite a strong smell of stale urine also in the Bathroom. All in all, I would stay there again (in a different room). As they say on the School Report. Well done but you must try harder. All in all a pleasant weekend.

I have never had a experience in my life very dirty place to stay breakfast was disgusting the hash browns were mouldy and the pub floor was dirty from the night before our room was dirty full of dust the bathroom was horrible shower head full of limescale and the toilet didn't flush this place needs a good clean a upgrade and redecorating I can say I will not be staying their again.

The place is great! Quiet area, lovely views. Very close to the the train station with links to neighbouring towns. The Hotel and Pub staff are very helpful and lovely people! Absolutely recommended! (Visited in August 2017).

Dated furniture and fittings. Huge crack in the sink, patched up tiles with mouldy grout and no plug for the bath. Some sort of fridge or air con unit which, every 15 minutes made a vibrating hum in my room and walls so thin I could hear a simple conversation clearly in the room next door.
Food and service left a lot to be desired too. Asked for a medium rare steak which came out well done and I then had to ask for a steak knife, not exactly rocket science is it? £95 for the room and £15 for the steak!! Seriously not impressed and would recommend you avoid.

2 ultimate fish and chips ,fish was over deepfried ,thin and saturated in oil as was the prawns and scollop ....£12.29 refused to pay for mine !!! 1 shared platter was a pile of iceland cheep frozen crap dripping in oil ....left feeling pissed off £30 out of pocket (and the so called chef said whats wrong with it ) i will tell people i know to avoid this place

Chris and his staff couldn't do enough for us, especially the ever present Richie who was an absolute star and a credit to his profession. We also enjoyed a delicious Sunday meal.
