Oh my goodness, if you love fish, then this is the place to eat it. Fish for starter, fish for main, and then a superb pud to finish it off. I chose the cod, much to my friend's astonishment ("but you can have cod anywhere") but I triumphed, as it was just wonderful; tender flakes, cooked to absolute perfection. But to be honest, I don't think there was a bad choice on the menu. My tip? Book well ahead, especially if you want to dine on a Friday or Saturday evening. Enjoy.

Superb restaurant with a great choice of seafood starters and mains. Fast helpful service and food presented wonderfully. Pleasant decor and conveniently located. Wholeheartedly recommend but don’t expect anything but seafood on the menu!

We have been to this restaurant on several occasions and have had great food every time. There is plenty of choice on the menu. The wines are also very reasonably priced. See you again soon

What a great restaurant. We had a lovely meal which was delicious. I tried swordfish for the first time which was very adventurous for me! It was extremely tasty. As much as we would have liked to, we were both too full to have a desert! We would definitely go back if we were return to Norfolk again.

Absolutely superb Restaurant. Food fantastic and of a high quality. I had fried sea bream it was delicious, it fell apart. The mascarpone dessert with strawberries was the best I ever had. The service was excellent and our waiter Shaun was fantastic, he was very polite and knowledgeable about the dishes. Would highly recommend this restaurant, shame I have a 5 hour drive as I would visit more regular.

I've heard nothing but good things about this restaurant so thought I would give it a go. I had lobster for 1st time and I will say I wasn't disappointed. The desert was superb and looked homemade. A bit of advice would be for them to provide a few napkins or apron as it got messy with the lobster but for food alone 5* definitely.

Have just enjoyed a delicious evening meal at this excellent fish restaurant in the heart of the charming village of Horning. My husband said his crab starter was the best he’d ever had, high praise indeed.

Our family bought us a gift voucher for the restaurant as a birthday present and it was an excellent choice. The overall experience of food, relaxed ambience and service was really enjoyable. We tried the Shawsgate Bacchus English wine and that went down really well with fish. Will we go again? Yes! Need to book as it is very popular.

My father in law and his father before him were fishmongers, so we have always been used to the best quality fish and I have to say Bure River Cottage didn't let us down. Scallops, fresh dressed crab, Dover soles and skate, all were perfect, couldn't find fault. The restaurant was fully booked and the atmosphere was buzzing with happy diners. The young waiting staff were pleasant, polite and helpful. We travelled a 60 mile round trip to dine here and it was worth the journey. On our next visit, and there will be one, we think we will look at staying overnight locally so we can both enjoy the wines on offer!

While on holiday in Norfolk my husband and I decided to eat here for our special night out. Luckily we had booked as it was full all week! It is a modern, light restaurant with plenty of room between the tables. The friendly waitress brought over a blackboard with the day's choices on it. I chose the Cromer crab, oven baked in a spicy mix and my husband chose moules. Both were absolutely delicious! For mains I ordered sea trout and he had lemon sole with a garlic and brown shrimp topping. Again, wonderful, as was the selection of vegetables. The desserts were again perfect and unusual. We both had different ice creams. Altogether a superb restaurant, I couldn't recommend it more highly!

We decided to celebrate our anniversary by visiting this fish restaurant as we were impressed by the reviews we had read. We were not disappointed. The meal was a culinary delight. We had baked crab to start , followed by Dover sole for our main course. It was a true delight of flavours with fish. The staff were very pleasant and helpful throughout the evening. I would heartily recommend this to anyone in the area, with just two pointers . The restaurant was very busy , so book ahead to be sure of a table, and allow plenty time for parking as around the restaurant it is very limited.

I can't fault this restaurant. Service is outstanding, choice of food is great and food is delicious. This is a friendly fish restaurant which is family run. We had a buggy with our 4 month old in and they went out of their way to ensure we were catered for in everyway. Lovely people and scrumptious food!

My wife and I went to this restaurant full of expectations on arrival we were greeted by a young lady looked after us she showed us the menu board the Dover sole was missing the lobster was missing so I asked for a mussel starter that also was missing so I ordered scallops ok my wife had the Cromer crab which were both good although not enough scallops for me as none of the main courses we would have liked were available to us we had plaice and halibut the plaice came on the bone and was very nice but messy to eat the halibut was excellent the desserts were also great all in all the staff were first class ,food was excellent but for a average man not enough I came out hungry to sum up good restaurant but needs to up its portions or lower it prices

It is well worth the effort to search out this absolute Jem of a restaurant, anyone who loves fish should be in 7th heaven. I booked in on a recent business trip on the recommendation of a relative and can’t praise the staff enough. Whilst the menu is no way extensive, there are enough choices to make sure you find something you fancy based on what is fresh and in season. I selected dressed crab as my starter with a few green leaves and some mayonnaise. A very good fresh small crab but more than enough as a starter, sweet and delicious. For a main I went for Turbot fillet served with Brown shrimps and Samphire. The fish was delicate, firm and expertly cooked, well to my taste at least. There was a sufficiency of various vegetables and the choice of new potatoes or chips, which were hand cut, skin on, skinny and very crispy. In fact perfect. If I were to be picky I would forget the vegetables and have more of the wonderful Samphire but I understand it is a very personal thing, apparently there are people out the that do not like Samphire. Finally I selected the excellent cheese board, the exact details I don’t remember there was a cheddar style, a Brie style, an excellent blue cheese and one other which I forget. I am not a fan of Brie I must admit but all the cheeses were of very good quality and served in certainly generous portions. The usual suspects of grapes, Quince jelly and biscuits were there on the plate, I could have done with a couple more biscuits but I am sure that is my greed and as my laziness would not let me ask for more I evidently did not need them. My only gripe I would have liked a butter knife and please bring back fish knives and forks, I miss them, they are exactly fit for purpose but sadly lacking in today’s restaurants. I am old enough to remember them being everywhere. Staff were extremely helpful and attentive without being overpowering. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere but don’t doubt the cooking is of a very high standard indeed. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Bure River Cottage restaurant, I will certainly be going again next time business takes me that way. Well done and my thanks to all the staff.

Enjoyed excellent fish dinners on two occasions during a recent holiday at Horning. This pleasant environment with great freshly cooked food and attentive friendly staff appears to be patronised by both local inhabitants and visiting holidaymakers and is fully booked well in advance.

A fish only enterprise and not cheap but wow, the quality! Local fresh fish, beautifully cooked. And not just the fish, the vegetables were cooked to perfection as well. Add to that excellent service, friendly and unobtrusive.
