Been many times for Sunday evening meal and never a bad meal. In fact it's always top quality. The service is excellent and staff are so nice. Would recommend to anyone.
Fabulous restaurant, fabulous food, very cosy setting, staff excellent. Food was piping hot when served. Good varied menu and all cooked fresh. Outside of restaurant does not do it justice but don’t be put off it certainly makes up for it 100% inside. The best food to be had in Hornsea.
Beautiful meal last night, food was excellent and extremely good value. Service was excellent and attentive. Would definitely recommend.
Had our Hornsea Peloton Xmas do here last night. Superb food ( especially the hot fudge pie and cream for dessert) and brilliant staff. Excellent evening enjoyed by all. Thank you.
absolutely fantastic!! portion sizes very generous and prices very good. lovely, attentive staff. cant wait to visit again!!
Been a few times now over last few years and never been let down food always lovely and hot and taste delicious. Staff always cheerful and helpful as if they can't do enough. Great.
Visited last night with friends. We'd not been before. Lovely staff and food. Would recomnend
Just popped in for a drink in the bar but was made very welcome and had a lovely atmosphere. Lots of choices of drinks, a wide range of top quality whiskies, brandys and liquers that you don't get offered in pubs as well as the usual choices. Will definitely be back for their menu for two, the Wednesday night special looks very good value.
Amazing food and best beer in Hornsea. Lovely, welcoming place with very friendly staff xx
The food is always fantastic. Lovely staff. Best food in hornsea.
Lovely Food and very friendly and efficient staff, nothing is to much trouble
Always a very friendly reception, enjoy me visit to the Swiss cottage and look forward to the next one
Just returned from a lovely week in Hornsea, we ate at Swiss Cottage 4 times....lovely staff, brilliant service and fantastic food, reasonably priced too, would deffinatly go back :)
Best restaurant in Hornsea by a country mile. The food is always beautifully cooked and we'll presented. Service is always friendly and helpful too.
Highly recommended.
Swiss cottage has been around since the 80's and little appears to have changed. Frozen in time with a "For Sale" sign outside and looking tired, it's not all about appearance! Nevertheless it's still open and it's busy on a Sunday lunch time.
No it's not trendy, it's not full of hip young people, it is full of people from the 80's and earlier who know what's what and where they are going to get value for money and a decent Sunday lunch! These are repeat customers who have been coming for years. They must know something? 🤔
I've added a photo of the menu. We opted for 3 courses for £17.50. and extra £2 for Lamb 🐑
Haven't had lamb for ages so that's what I chose and was more than happy with a very good portion of it! Gravy, Yorkshire pudding, vegetables, boiled and roast potatoes.
The staff are friendly and the customers are too.
Go retro and don't break the bank!
Been a long time since we visited this cosy place, not sure why but glad we did again! The Swiss Cottage has a unique feel to it which is both inviting and comforting. The bar is suitably stocked for us with draught and bottled beers and spirits and the separate dining area caters for about 30 covers.
We had the Sunday lunch which offers 1, 2 or 3 courses for more than reasonable prices. We opted for the tempura battered salmon starters and garni, fresh bread roll...lovely.
For the main meal my wife, Ruth, chose the lamb while I went for the pork, with crackling of course, served with separate gravy on request, roast and mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and five different vegetables. The meat was tender, good portions and we had no complaints whatsoever!
Our drinks consisted of a preliminary Great Newsome Real ale, double gin and tonic and the meal was was washed down with an excellent Chilean Carmenere! It was also pleasing to gaze out of the windows and view the dog walkers and folk enjoying the nearby sea air.
A lovely experience and one that we will certainly relish very much sooner than before. All for just under £61, what's not to love? Fully recommend this Hornsea gem!
Lovely Sunday dinner
Steak night on a Wednesday
Quuz night 930 Wednesday, come and test your knowledge
Gorgeous , really nice sunday lunch ! Even if sat in rain.! Homemade Yorkshire puds, plenty veg and meat . Gravy very nice . Had take away puds, cake custard. So nice . Will be back !!
Can't praise it enough. Really good meal. My husband had lamb and I had pork, both meals were really good. We both had Bailey and Hazel nut roulade, he had cream and I was rather cheeky and asked if I could have Baileys poured over mine. That's exactly what I got. Quite a small place, staff lovely and polite. The whole thing was less then £20 for both of us.
Great home cooked food in a friendly atmosphere. I love this place.
Had a wonderful Sunday lunch, the food was excellent, the service was excellent too. Would definitely recommend
First trip to hornsea. Absolutely fabulous Sunday dinner, very fresh and extremely good quality lamb. on a late bank holiday weekend, five of us dropped in for dinner, expecting it to be too late, instead we were warmly greeted by the extremely friendly and attentive staff who couldn't do enough for us, what a hidden gem of a place, will definitely return if we go back to Hornsea.
Went with my wife, daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren daughters
Good food, exceptionally friendly service and very reasonably priced for food we had - everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening from 9 year old to 72 year old
A little gem of a restaurant in Hornsea. Cosy, welcoming, and always nicely busy while still feeling intimate. Lovely food and drink with a proper traditional British pub feel. Always a joy to pop here.
Well worth a visit superb food and service
Fantastic place, came in for a meal on valentines day and was overwhelmed with the portions and the taste, we enjoyed every second of it i couldn't think anything could have been better then the sight of my special lady sat in front of me, but i was wrong the soup really tickled my fancy it wasnt short on taste and i couldve had another bowl. Again absolutely amazing definitely more like a 10*.
We have a caravan in Hornsea and Swiss Cottage is always our preferred choice for Sunday lunch. Good choice and value for money. We went last night Wednesday..steak night..first time.would highly recommend. Good food, good prices and good service. Thankyou..see you again soon.
Loved this place ended we went Saturday night for food and drinks fantastic all around will be going back
Always great food. Service is "a little slow" as someone else put, because care is taken during the production of your meals to ensure you get the best possible service and quality. If people want fast food, go to a burger bar and not a real restaurant.
Wonderful night came for my birthday and it was steak night cooked to perfection amazing quality and service cant wait to visit again.
Thankyou so much for a lovely birthday.
X.
Don't judge a place by its looks. Exterior and interior looks a bit dated. But the meals were spot on. Very enjoyable. 10/10.
This restaurant is the best in Hornsea for food and drink. We eat here when we can and are never disappointed. The quality and quantity never fail to please. The service at the bar and in the restaurant is impeccable and I urge locals and visitors to support this establishment at every opportunity
