Our first visit frendly staff great atmosphere good pub food would recommend and visit again thanks
Hi Ally,
Popped into the pub last night for supper. Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed it. Great service, delicious food and lovely atmosphere. Really, really good job. Horsham is lucky to have The Black Jug.
Please pass this onto the team (especially the kitchen - the trout was perfect).

Lovely pub great food and helpful friendly staff. Always really good with the dog too. Highly recommended
Fabulous Christmas lunch at the Black Jug and, despite being full to the gunnels, Ally and his wonderful kitchen team kindly went off menu to give three of us a fab veggie nut roast Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings! Just delicious and well worth the money. Thank you for a lovely Christmas Day and i hope you, and your marvellous team, enjoyed it as much as we did. Happy Christmas season to you all and many thanks, Lesley Hart xxx
Great atmosphere. Great food. Great beer. Great staff. A proper pub.
A great choice of dishes on the menu. Beautifully presented food. A lovely atmosphere. Peach and prosecco bellini cocktails are perfect appetisers!
Was there last night for gin tasting and supper. Lovely atmosphere, very good service and spectacular food. Will be back.
Had a lovely meal with some friends last weekend. The staff were very friendly and the food was great. Will definitely be recommending it and will be returning soon.
Popped in for a vino last Friday with a friend and it was packed. Great atmosphere, lovely staff and pleasant people.
Customer base seemed 30s upwards who had been working in London as its close by to the station.
Lovely garden, perfect for some chips and a pint.
Definitely a place for lunch. We had 4 starters and chips. Responsibility priced, great taste, good service. Would have had 5*, no parking, fyi park at the leisure centre 6mins walk
Beautiful pub for a Sunday roast. Had the braised lamb shoulder which complemented well with a rosemary gravy and assorted vegetables. The lamb was tender and succulent. It paired well with the red wine which there was quite a few to choose from. There’s also a lovely beer garden outside for the summer.
We had a get together with friends one came from Australia, another from Portugal, one from Cardiff, one from Loxwood, and another two from Billingshurst. We enjoyed a lingering lunch, which was splendid and wash down with plenty of lager and wine.

I had a trial for a job there. Amazing experience and before finish my trial the chef offer me a menu with dinner from my choice. It was lovely atmosphere to work.
Sizeable pub with a large outdoor area too. Great roast dinners and desserts.
No parking available, but park in the nearby pay-and-display (£1.70 on Sundays).
Great service, nice atmosphere and good food. Very cozy Pub and worth the visit.
One of the nicer pubs in Horsham especially if wanting food.
Ideally located for a pre or post visit to the theatre / Capitol.
Being located between the train station and town centre, also well positioned as a meeting place for those travelling by rail.
For drivers, lots of paid but relatively cheap and free after 8pm parking nearby.
I can honestly recommend especially if wanting food.
Child friendly too.
And, if visiting, spend some time looking at all the stuff on the walls. A few gems have been mounted!
Food is good. My daughter who is a coeliac had no problems with the food.
Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
Very nice!
Lovely pub, food is great, and friendly service
Went here for their cider festival. Great atmosphere. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good beers on cask including Harvey's Best and local beer Firebird Parody (as well as a large list of festival ciders). Great place
It isn't always easy to find a dog friendly place to eat which also does a good range of gluten free food. This did both really well. There was also a choice of gluten free and alcohol free beers not just one of each. Staff were friendly and one mistake was rectified and compensated for quickly.
Really enjoyed my dinner here while on a business trip to Horsham. I had the grilled courgette salad and crispy beef with chili sauce as my dinner, and it was plenty. Wonderful old building, staff was very welcoming and friendly. The apple pear cider was excellent. Would definitely recommend eating here.
A difficult comment. I'd travelled down from Peterborough by train to meet with my sister, nephew and his wife to deliver a wedding present. This was the second stop in our trip around Horsham. They served cask ale, I wouldn't have gone through the door if not, which was of good quality and I enjoyed; both pints. My sister ordered a selection of light bites which were very good and enjoyed by the 4 of us. We sat in the sunshine in a good courtyard at the rear. It was their sort of venue, and this is the difficult part, it wasn't really mine. I wouldn't complain, they know and understand their chosen market and I'd say serve it well but I really enjoy; well let's just say the first time my sister and I met up to exchange Xmas gifts after years of little contact I'd chosen the venues in London, on arriving home her other half asked if she'd had a good day, her reply was great, great food, excellent ale I understand, and great fun; next time I'll take a bucket of sawdust for the floor. Here she didn't need the sawdust but everything else was just the same. Would I visit next time I'm in Horsham, definitely, the ale was great and so was the food but I'd not spend my Friday and Saturday evenings there 😉
The tandoori halloumi burger is to die for. I’ve had it about 10 times. One week it was off I nearly cried. Glad it’s back! Great beer selection too
