While food is on the pricier side, my family have been eating here for years, specifically for their lobster. It can get really busy on weekends, and especially on holidays, so be ready to wait for a table. The restaurant is known for their seafood like their lobster, but I also like their stir fried vegetable dishes. It’s not too salty for me or my family, and they’re picky! Fried rice is also great as well.

We had the special dinner with 3 lobsters, steamed tilapia, Peking duck with buns & scallions, beef, pork, walnut shrimp, snow peas豆苗, fried rice, & soup - all very good. Each person was under $30! Parking is right outside. It’s really affordable!

Delicious family style chinese food. While the restaurant specializes in seafood, get the salt and pepper pork dish!

One of my favorite authentic Chinese restaurant in Bellaire. Been coming here for over a decade. You missing out if you haven’t been here.

The place looks ok, the duck was so so, the mix seafood in clay had way too much bean curd, but the lobster with black pepper was sooo good. This was the first time I actually get full from eating a lobster dish, the quantity was really good for $36. Would come back for the lobster but won't reorder the other dishes

Every time we come to Houston we are eating at Confucius and ordering the Crab rice. It is an unforgettable dish. You want to make sure to put the Crab Rice order in early since it takes longer to cook! Haven’t had the lobster but almost every table had it !

This was an excellent dinner. We went here on a whim to try something new and it was amazing. The food is incredibly tasty. The wait staff is friendly and interactive with the customers. They are children friendly. The ambiance was good, especially considering they are in a strip mall. Parking is not an issue, and there's access on both Gessner and Bellaire. They were way above expectations. 10/10 recommend.

This place has amazing food. Don't let the outside scare you. Some of the best tasting Cantonese food I've had outside of Canton. Most of the patrons around me all spoke Cantonese so you can tell this place is legit as it gets. The market price crab was delicious though of course, shelled seafood is always a lot of work to open up. I also had the ong choy which my parents described as having incredible 'wok hey' which is a term for food cooked on woks on high heat with such skilled technique that the flavors meld so wonderfully. In other words, WHY HAVEN'T I DISCOVERED THIS PLACE SOONER BECAUSE OMG, I'M STILL DREAMING OF THIS ONG CHOY? Ok, now that is out of the way, I must mention we also had a chicken with scallion ginger, and a great salt and pepper calamari, which is always comforting. This place is known for their seafood as you can tell from the restaurant name and I'm salivating just thinking about going back here to try their other dishes. Alison Cook (well known Houston food critic) picked this as a top 100 restaurant many years ago and I'm so glad this place got this recognition.

Confucius Seafood Restaurant or Viet Lai is among my top choice for Chinese food, or authentic Cantonese food in particular, in the Houston area. For years they've been known for great services, delicious food, generous portions, dining environment, among others. Many people dining there are return customers due to the factors abovementioned. Some of my recommended items include, but are not limited to, lobsters (cooked in a few methods), beef ribs in special sauce, chaise (Gui Fei) chicken and all kinds of clay pots. What's worth mentioning is that one order of lobster dish has TWO lobsters, not just one.
