Koto Japanese Restaurant & Bar

I come to this restaurant couple of times a year, and every time I am here I have very good experience. The quality of their sashimi is not really worth the 4 star, but with the price and portion it is not bad. Cozy environment, staff is always very nice and attentive, food came our pretty fast, usually doesn't have to wait for long. Their kitchen food is definitely a 5 star level. Seaweed salad is always very fresh. Ika Teriyaki is super yummy, I like the chewy texture of the squid. Fried octopus tail is excellent , the batter is fresh and crispy, just perfection. Baked mussel is definitely inexpensive and tasty. We ordered the sashimi boat, the presentation is impressive, 7 different kinds of sashimi, 3 pieces each kind plus a sushi roll you can choose from the roll session, value less than $13. For $38 of this sashimi package, it is definitely a good deal. The desert is also the best part other than the appetizer, we ordered banana tempura with ice cream, fried just to the right temperature. Fried ice cream tempura with green tea ice cream is worth order as well. And last the fried cheese cake my friend couldn't share with us. Definitely worth coming if you are looking for great price, good portion Japanese food. Will come back.

Wonderful service and great safe sushi. Waiters are extremely good and timely and meet your every need, if that's your thing. I just like the over the top service. The Shrimp Teriyaki is delicious and the spice tuna roll is a firecracker in your mouth that burst with flavors like a unsuspecting surprise on your tongue. The drinks compliment the food across the board.

I was looking for Genji on Westheimer and was taken to the wrong address by the GPS. I made a turn into a parking lot and saw this little Japanese Gem. I was greeted by Apple who is very nice and friendly. The atmosphere is great and the staff is great. Denny, the sushi chef was extremely nice and we conversated a bit. Since Covid, I really hadn’t stopped to talk long enough to other people. I enjoyed my time here and will return. I can’t believe I never heard or saw this place before for sushi. Aside from the friendly staff, the food is good.
