Most restaurants don't survive 50+ years in the same location. This iconic Mexican eatery has though. It's simple façade and no frills menu has stood the test of time here in Spring Branch. My family have been dining here since 1971(the year it was established). If you're looking for modern, elevated, artfully plated fare, this isn't the place. But if you want AUTHENTIC, no-frills food, you'll love El Gallo!! The staff are as genuine as the enchiladas..

The food here is delicious and the staff is always nice, I have never had a bad visit.

Went on Saturday evening, wasn't crowded at all. The food came out quickly, Rice and beans were hot, and fresh, with lots of flavor. The grilled chicken was okay. Lacked some flavor. Would've liked some bell peppers along with more onions on my grilled chicken asada.
