Maclane's Cafe

What a gem of a neighborhood cafe. The chili was flavorful and robust. The Gunslinger burger was excellent and the lemon arugula a nice surprise. Great service from Gary topped off with a Blue Bell homemade vanilla shake and a tableside visit from the owner made for a pleasant Friday night outing. If you are in the Tanglewood and Briargrove area you deserve to treat yourself at Maclane's.

We came with a party of 11 only an hour before they closed. I felt so bad, but they made accommodations for us, right away, and they never once made us feel like we were inconveniencing them at all!! We had water on our table before I even knew it. The menu was different from what we usually eat, (plant based burgers, tofo, burgers with pineapple and eggs) but everything was delicious!! One person in my party was disappointed with the tofu salad, because he thought it would something different, but the staff offered to make him something else right away!! You just don't see that kind of service anymore. I had the filet mignon with asparagus, truffle fries, and some kind of tomato side. It was perfect! They even brought out a kids menu that they usually only serve for lunch for my young niece. I tried the burgers and they were excellent...big, thick, and juicy! You could tell they were fresh. My sister-in-law had the shrimp and grits and was loved it. My mom couldn't stop raving about the soup and burger she had. To top it off, they offered us 5 free desserts to make up for the food the person didn't care for, and that it took longer than they anticipated. We were there an hour before closing, so I felt like it was our fault for coming in so late and ordering steak, and well done burgers. It was totally unnecessary, but so appreciated!! I tried the chocolate cake, the brownie a la mode, the cheesecake, and a chocolate milkshake and I was BLOWN away....just incredibly delicious! We were there over an hour after they closed, but the staff never made us feel rushed to leave and was indescribably accommodating, considerate, and just all around outstanding!! I don't live around there, but if I come back to the area, I will definitely eat here again!
