Com Ga Houstons

You know it’s gonna be a fire meal when the waitress is yelling at you in Vietnamese to sit down, even though you don’t understand a word 🔥 Also later, ordering - Vietnamese only! Love it 😄 We had the (famous) Com Ga and Banh Mi Bo Kho. Both delicious. Obviously you have to try Com Ga, coming here for first time. Overall very authentic experience!

Banh xeo is huge and has a good crisp. You can taste the coconut. They have squid and shrimp, not the cheap chewy meat like other places. Could use more protein and mushrooms though. They don't use a bunch of bean sprouts as filler that ruins the crisp. Bunch of lettuce, mustard leaves, n herbs on the side. Took some leftovers n they offered me extra fish sauce. Also had their signature dish--com ga. I don't eat this dish often, but what I had was great. The dipping sauce makes the difference. Don't order this if you do not like ginger, garlic, or lemongrass. Comes with a side of simple chicken soup. They may ask you which parts of the chicken you want, but you'll probably will get whatever they want to give you. Would like to try other stuff when I come back.

My mother-in-law heard about this place and we decided to check it out. Chicken and rice should never be turned down. 😉 I am so glad we stopped in for dinner. The food was absolutely delicious! Chicken meat was juicy and tender, rice was cooked perfectly, and the fish sauce for dipping was so addicting! We also got the special chicken eggs which I’ve never had before. Those were such a treat and not one was wasted at our table. All our dishes were emptied! Our kiddos also tried the chicken rice porridge which was also flavorful and just straight up Asian comfort food. I’m so glad we stopped by in here while visiting Houston! We are from Washington DC/metro area so we have lots of dining options as well and if this was in our area, it would definitely be on my list of favorites to frequent!
