Grand Chinese Restaurant

So I hadn’t gone to this restaurant in months and decided to go today. Although I knew from the great vine that the quality of the food has dropped tremendously, heck how bad it could be. Yea right !!! The booth I chose to sit sank me all the way in, cleanliness is not their Priority either. Anyways let’s go to the food. Hot and sour soup was OK. I’ve had better play doh than the Sweet and sour chicken they served. The food was stale, old, unappetizing and didn’t taste like anything. Not only that, half the stuff was not even there. They didn’t care to make fresh or refill. Maybe 8-10 choices. Basically everything cooked in the same gravy. No one asked us how the food was, we were not offered drinks, our used plates weren’t ever picked up. The lady who appeared to be the owner took a fork, stuck It right into the rice on the buffet line and TASTED IT!!!!! Was I shocked!! I was livid. After all this, I was charged 13.99 per person plus 1.50 for sodas that never got refilled and the food that I didn’t eat at all. Now I lay in bed with stomach pain and non stop visits to the restroom. Never again. Save your money and Save your health. Not worth it.

My over all experience was pretty good. They were welcoming. Tried their Chinese for the first time and it turned out amazingly delicious. Buffet has many options. Seems like their service has improved. Environment was nice. They did not had any background music I don't know why. And I also observed a lady constantly working in shalwar kameez, kind of a good thing and encouraging for our women to work outside as well.

I don't know why some people write very bad reviews for this restaurant!! For me .. I went to the dinner/buffet time at 7 pm on Wednesday with a group of 5 persons. The buffet was full with clean, fresh, hot and delicious food for $11.99/person ($9.99 for lunch). The place, dishes, and utensils were clean. The atmosphere was good and quite. The owners kept walking around and checking on the tables. The waiters kept asking if we need anything and they were ready to help and serve. Their service was fast (maybe because it wasn't very crowded at that time and it was a buffet time not menu time). I didn't try the menu food and service. I highly recommend this restaurant for people who like Chinese-American normal buffet food and to those who care about really Halal food.

My Review is based on week day experience and not weekend. Maybe weekend visit could be different. We went on Thursday. I’ve been to this place many time when previous owner used to run this place. Back then, their buffet was best. People from other states when they come to Houston, they would definitely visit Jamillah Garden. However, ever since we have a new management now, everything has changed. The food was cold and tasteless. I tried beef black pepper, took a bite and “SPIT IT OUT”. It was hard and tasted like it was not fresh. I tried other dishes but nothing good. After long time, I thought I should pay them a visit and see if...maybe they have improved on their food but disappointed. If you’re craving for Chinese food, My recommendation is that....there are soo many halal Chinese restaurants in Houston. Better to tried them all before use this place as your last resort.

This is definitely not Bellaire Chinese food! It's reasonably good though I'm close to the house. The buffet doesn't tend to change much from time to time when I visit. The food is relatively fresh. They have lots of shrimp on the buffet and it never seems to be stale. It does a reasonably good job keeping food at the buffet. How they always keep the buffet supplies up I'm not sure, as there may be two or three couples one night, and the place is just absolutely filled the next night. It's a relatively large place too. The service is minimal but always very friendly.

This is not my first visit. However my review is strictly based on my experience of this visit. Food was fresh and delicious. They also have Pakistani food on the buffet but they are never fresh. Garlic shrimp are excellent. I also like cheese puffs from appetizers. The place need cleanup including bathroom.
