In the heart of Houston, on the illustrious Ella Boulevard, you’ll find my cherished McDonald’s - a beacon of consistency, no more than a leisurely mile from my homestead. Its drive-thru is a portal of efficiency, swiftly delivering iconic bites to your vehicle’s window. While some choose to dine in, I, a patron of tradition, savor my bounty in the comfort of my car - a ritual dating back to my puck-chasing, rink-side youth. The starring role on my order ticket typically goes to the ageless duo of an Egg McMuffin and a small iced caramel macchiato. Yet, on this day, the plot took a delectable twist. My hubby, tired from a long day and an empty kitchen, sought solace at the Golden Arches while I flexed my muscles at the gym. Consequently, I deviated from my usual script and opted for a quarter pounder meal - a classic tale of delicious unpredictability. As I prepared to pay, the friendly cashier charmed me into ordering a whimsical addition: the Grimace Birthday Shake. “Why not?” I thought, and my taste buds applauded the decision. The fries disappeared faster than a Texas minute, even before my shake made its appearance at the pickup window. With my car parked strategically to watch the world go by, I devoured the quintessential American cheeseburger - a flavor that screams ‘home’ in every bite, synonymous with predictability and consistency. The shake? A delightful symphony of purple berry and vanilla. An unexpected yet welcomed flavor explosion that completed my nostalgic food journey. McD’s on Ella Blvd, you never disappoint. Consistency, efficiency, and a dash of nostalgia make you a fast-food haven, offering a delightful escape one cheeseburger (and occasional shake) at a time!

This location is typically pretty quick, and the majority of my orders are accurate (3-5 items plus a few drinks). I go here once or twice per week for breakfast and I’ve only had an inaccurate order twice. The managers need to do something about the drive through line: once there are more than a couple cars lined up, people start having a genius moment and cut everyone, creating a second line and blocking traffic from getting through the lot. It slows the rest of the line down, and the people who cut the line usually get angry and confrontational when you try to get them to move because they block you in a parking spot (happened 3 times so far). I urge McDonald’s to think of a solution to prevent this, since these people don’t appear to have much thinking capacity themselves.
