Been here a few times recently and was surprised to see a lower than expected rating. The more recent reviews are far more accurate. Have had food twice (both times banging) and the staff are lovelt. Really nice bar and spot. My preferred place to watch football even though it's a bit out of the way for me as it doesn't really have a football vibe, all very friendly and enough space to fit everyone.

I’ve experienced The Exchange as a local over 20 years and right now, it’s the best it’s been. The food there is delicious and above the standard you would expect from a pub with a menu that changes with the seasons. The Sunday roasts are very good and the roast potatoes are exceptional. Shannon and her staff always make you feel welcome…

Had an amazing Sunday roast here. I had a vegan Wellington and my partner had Baba blossom fish and chips. Talk about a slap up meal! Totally delicious, great portions, lovely starters too. Looks like we'll be regulars!

This is one of the best pubs in Hove!!! Staff are insanely great, food is INCREDIBLE (please try the Irish stew you will not be disappointed) and the atmosphere is unbeaten. Lots of events on too! We love it there.

Pop in today Sat 7th October bit to eat and a beer. Read many positive reviews about this place, and have to agree food was good. Beer clean and crisp. Decor quirky, interesting. Nice steady flow of regulars many eating also. Feels like a pub that is supported by it's locals. Definitely be back.
Just had the Sunday roast 11th February 2024, absolutely amazing.

I love this pub! The staff are always really chatty and friendly.. Always feels really cosy and welcoming when I come to this pub, also the food is banging! I've tried a few of the small plates and looking forward to trying the new menu! Can't wait to go back!

My favourite pub ever and I’ve been to maaaaaaany over the years.
That’s all because of Shannen and the team. Absolutely wonderful people. Honestly can’t emphasise how much they make the place.
Food is great and always a fantastic selection of beers.
Love this place so much!!

Amazing roast dinner with interesting accompaniments - like the parsnip puree and beetroot gratin. Overall, so tasty! The vegan one was delicious too! About £20pp with a drink.

Ordered the vegan fish and chips - the batter was amazing - out of this world, the chips and tartare sauce sublime, but have lost a star because it seemed to be ALL batter. I *think* it was supposed to banana blossom for the vegan fish but it was so thin and sparse, it may as well been entirely absent - love batter but expect more than just this.

Great little pub, underrated and not overly busy.

Food is absolutely spot on. The chef clearly cares about what comes out the kitchen. Also my allergy was handled with so much care 🫶

I live in hove and honestly I am never dissapointed with the food, drink selection or service at the exchange, so friendly and welcoming! Recommend it to everyone! I can’t wait to try the new Christmas specials!

Nice enough pub, friendly staff, but so expensive for a tucked away local. £7.50 for a locally brewed pint, £17 for an OK but not amazing burger and chips that didn't even come with some coleslaw or a pickle. Between 3 of us we spent over £100 in a couple of hours, could have gone out for dinner for that. Felt like a rip off, central Brighton pretentious gastropub prices. Bad value for money.

Nice chilled vibe, large open plan seating area. Good selection of ales although nothing dark @ this visit :(. Polite, happy to help guy behind the bar sporting just the right amount of chipped nail varnish 😊. Food available from £5 as well as regular music nights. The Exchange is deffently worth a regular visit!

Went here for a lamb roast dinner today. Food was delicious, and a fair price. The staff were really lovely and the pub had a great atmosphere. Really enjoyed!

Hands down the best beef roast you’ll ever get in Brighton absolutely perfect 👌 would have left a photo but I ate it to quick 🤣

Absolutely worst Sunday lunch experience I have ever had after having to wait almost 2 and a half hours for our food to arrive! after chasing the order multiple times the food was shocking. We had booked a few days in advance no one seemed to know what they were doing eventually when the food arrived it was like they had just given us the left overs. The portion was tiny and the meats where over cooked one of the plates only had 2 quarter pieces of potatoes on it...all round very poor experience.

Loved the pub. A real character. Loads to look at. The food was excellent, the beef burgers and chips were restaurant standard and huge! Live music too. Huge screen for watching the football. The staff were friendly and the landlord was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his real ales. We were made to feel welcome on our first time there. Will definitely be back.

Simply the best Sunday roast (pork!) Lovely friendly staff and quick service. Took a fussy vegetarian who also enjoyed their nut roast..
