I only review a 5 star experience. Ok so I was visiting Brighton for business and changed upon this place. The aroma hit me as I was walking by and I simply had to go in. I chose a Vegan meal deal and was served by the simply beautiful Ayesha. You know when you are dealing with an person who is genuinely helpful and so friendly and positive. It really does make a difference. When I have a 5 star experience I offer the servers a free portrait. They mostly decline but Ayesha was flattered and loved the final results. Positive ambience, super tasty coffee, great meal deal value, wonderful staff.

This branch of Small Batch, which shares its space with the roastery, is great. The baristas are friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. And, unusually for the Brighton area, there’s parking. So it’s easy to either drop in and take away or to sit and enjoy the coffee.

Love coming here. I would say we ordered two cappuccino and one was a lot stronger than the other. Prices are high here. £4.25 for toasted crumpets! Coffee bags are at least 30% more than they were. I guess everything has increased these days. Also I would invest in a door, always freezing in there.

Small Batch Coffee HQ. The usual great
coffee and friendly service. I was fortunate
to have been given permission to take some
'behind the scene' pictures. Sunny outside
seating. No easy parking. Tasty hand food.
Easier for cyclists, locals and walkers!

Warehouse effect coffee for those who want to know where there coffee comes from.
I have driven and cycled past this factory unit for what seems years and years looking at it and not seeing it. Today I had some time to kill down in this little area and noticed they had a little carpark out the front for those who wish to frequent their Café or purchase from the store.
There is a side entrance to the cafe that is very industrial, it being a large metal sliding door with plastic shutters hanging down just inside. As you walk in you very quickly realise it’s a cafe for the warehouse behind and I started to think, ‘yes, I can try all their blends of coffee before I commit to buying a large bag of the stuff to take home to my Cafetière’. Unfortunately when I asked about how many different blends they have for consumption in then cafe, the answer I received was the usual one I get from every normal coffee café, “we have regular espresso blend, decaf and filtered.” I was not amused. The lovely lady went on to inform me that they sold different blends off the shelf if I wanted to take it home.
After this setback which cost them half of the dropped star I gave them I also started to notice that with a constant open door there was a nippy breeze consuming my ankles, and I had no wish to remove my coat. It was January after all and thus not the warmest of wet English winter days.
The coffee was brought to my table and was delightfully presented with a heart of foam on top. The coffee tasted like coffee should but did not stand out to me any more then any high street coffee shop would or Café. It’s not to bitter for my sugar avoiding ways to put up with but there was no special something to make me think it was amazing.
For my dairy intolerant companion who sadly couldn’t join me for this coffee expedition I enquired about non dairy and vegan foods/treat alternatives they had on offer. They have a lovely selection of light bites and treats here but unfortunately they only had one light bite and one treat in the vegan range to munch on. I may just bring her here for the coffee tasting instead then.
In the shop area, a shelving unit just down from the Café serving area housed their items for sale. There was a nice host of coffee making and serving options on display along with 3 different blends of coffee; Throwback Espresso, Blue Note Espresso and Goldstone Espresso. Pictures with their descriptions attached.
The decor apart from being a warehouse was pleasant and interestingly decorated with a nice geometric style of wall art above the coffee machines.
For a coffee production place with shop and Café I expected so much more but the longer I sat here the appeal started to take ahold. If only I could try more than the one blend in the Café. I understand there are probably a lot of very good reasons why this is not possible but for me it would make it so much nicer and I most likely would have come away with at least one bag of coffee as well instead of just the warmth and caffeine buzz of the one consumed beverage.

I have liked Small Batch for a few years and recently went into the Portslade branch again. It’s always such a great atmosphere and very welcoming and friendly. Special mention to Lisa who is always professional and efficient, and shares a friendly word even when it’s busy.

I stopped in here for a caffeine hit on a long bike ride. The best Cortado I have ever had … really smooth rich tasty coffee. They definitely know their stuff here. You can see the beans being roasted in the bigger part of the building. Well worth a visit …

Great and very unpretentious atmosphere here. Coffee always good at Small Batch

Cool spot in an industrial area, serving excellent coffee, teas (Masala Chai was delicious), cakes and sandwiches. Great to see vegan options. Outside space is a sun trap overlooking the docks.

Lisa was so helpful- her expertise and knowledge of her craft was obvious and her advice and assistance really appreciated. After some discussion, I took away variety of options for a number of friends with different coffee requirements, either whole bean, or specifically ground, were all greeted with a enthusiasm. Highly recommend

Best coffee in town and the food is also as good with a wide variety on offer. The staff were happy for me to carry out a bit of work on my laptop for an hour as it wasn't too busy! I will only purchase my coffee beans from Small Batch for my home coffee machine as they are in my opinion, the best flavour I've yet to taste!

Lovely little hipster coffee shop. With a good atmosphere, and nice sun.

Lovely coffee and I've just had one of their sandwiches for the first time, also really good.

My favourite coffee spot and the only “brand” where I never need sugar added. Staff always exceptional. It’s the only place I drink coffee outside my home now (I buy their beans for home use too!)

I've wanted stop at the small batch location for sometime, but never had the time as always rushing past to Brighton. I asked for a caramel cappuccino but they dont do caramel or any syrups. Connie explained it's because they would like their customers to taste the coffee. I'm so glad they do that! One of the best coffees I have experienced. The flavour was amazing, smooth. The steamed milk perfect. Thank you guys I look forward to my next experience 😃

We were on a mission to pick up some 'single origin' coffee for one of our kids who refuses to buy cheap blended stuff. Spotted this place on our last visit so headed straight for it. Couldn't resist a couple of flat whites as well to drink in the car. Have to say, best takeaway coffee we've had since Bondi Beach five years ago ☕☕👍🏻
