The Howtown Hotel - Howtown - Photo album

Aye it is old fashioned but that is the charm of it. The rooms are plush and the shared bathroom is very modern. The various lounges are lovely for spending time in, especially when the weather is not great. Lots of nice touches like a morning cup of tea bought right to your bedside. The food is als
Popped into the hotel to ask about a lunch menu. They said that there was a small restaurant at the side of the hotel. The interior of the hotel is very nice. Not sure on prices as I did not stay here. A short 10 minute walk from the boat drop off point.
Beautiful setting very peaceful, Good price for drinks . Shame we couldn't see inside , front door locked .
Didn't stay here, stopped through before our walk. Tea room was lovely and we managed to be there on a day with clear skies and sunshine! We took our cream tea to the little garden and sat with a wonderful view of the hills and scenery. Beautiful hotel, quiet and peaceful. We even returned when we
Stayed for one night. Stunning scenery just a great place. Excellent room slept well in a very comfortable bed. Evening meal was top draw with great wine list. Lovely cooked breakfast. Friendly staff. Highly Highly Recommended.
50 years since I drank here & still impressive! Doesn't seem to have changed much but all the old world character is still there. Nice beer, friendly staff & so tranquil & quite. Really enjoyed wandering around the ground floor very remenisent & full of bygones, like a step back to Victorian times.
Absolutely fabulous night away here in this old world charm setting in the heart of the Lake District. Delicious four course meal and great company with friends and meeting the other guests. Hospitality second to none. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Highly recommended and would love to
Had a well earned couple of pints of Tirrel Pilsner lager here on my epic 34.3 mile hike and a good crack with the proprietor.
Situated down a country lane, next to a beautiful lake and surrounded by inspiring hills, the hotel offers real tranquility. Decorated and furnished in ways tastefully evoking the Georgian and Victorian eras, there is nothing old-fashioned about the service. It is of the highest standard, and of a c
We took a drive up to Martindale to enjoy the views and spotted this place on the way. The sign said there was a public bar so we called in on the return trip. The bar is tucked away at the back of the hotel. It was like taking a step back into the past. A lovely little place.
Stopped here after waking in the fells. The public bar is a tiny room and you can't actually see what drinks are on offer but the guy behind the bar was very friendly and the drinks were really good.
We had the best of times a couple days at this very friendly, well kept old style hotel. An excellent place to have as base for exploration of this part of the Lake District. To come home to Howtown Hotel after a day of trekking the hills is really something. Will be back.
Called in after walking the Ullswater way pooley bridge to howtown while waiting for the steamer. Fab tea room had coffee and cake. We also had a pint from the bar. Great service lovely friendly staff beautiful gardens. Will definitely be going back this season
Didn't actually go inside to be honest, but it's a beautiful part of the lakes. The hotel looks really nice from outside and the garden out front was stunning. The perfect place to sit on a hot day.
We missed the boat to Glenridding and found this delightful hotel pub and garden where we spent an hour before catching the next boat. Lovely place with nice views, good beer and friendly staff. Might have to miss that boat again sometime!
Customer Sevice, the food was quite frankly the best we've had. Beautiful surroundings make sure you ask for an ensuite as some rooms have a private bathroom (spotless) but across the landing. Tea Room lovely excellent food all round
