Just had a lovely meal here with my husband and 3 kids. Really tasty food, large menu choice and very enjoyable environment. Would definitely recommend!

I Have'nt Had a Bad Meal Yet.... I live close by the Dolce Vita on Wakefield Road and have been a regular mid week customer for years. My partner and I often go on either Tuesday ( Pizza and Pasta for £5) or Wednesday (Any Main Course for £10) as they have special offers on these days.I've never had a bad meal yet in there..the food has always been consistantly good and the staff are always friendly, helpful and chatty. The place is very clean and modern inside (although it does'nt look it from the outside) and the toilets are spotless, which is always one of the first things I look for. I have also been here for a 40th birthday party which took place downstairs in the function room and we had a great night, the buffett was good and more than ample at haresident dj who played top tunes and requests all night. It gets 10 out of 10 from me everytime !...
Rob D

Great Evening. Me & my girlfriend with my son called into the La Dolce Vita for our tea after driving past. The waiter was really friendly and seated us straight away. The food was beautiful we had some olives and garlic bread for starter and I could have just ate the olives all night with the chilli and olive oil. My steak was cooked just how I like it and my partners meatballs were beautiful and my sons chicken nuggets off the kids menu was actually proper pieces of chicken and not the frozen rubbish that normally comes for a kids meal. We all had a dessert and the profiteroles were just a nice finish to the meal.
We are talking our friends back to let them try it as it made such an impression on us.
Thank you for the lovely evening

Worth the drive. Went through on a Friday Night to celebrate my fathers birthday. The restaurant had been recommended by a friend so thought why not. Six of us travelled a good 30 minutes to get there but it was worth it. The restaurant was busy with a good atmosphere. We had a lovely waiter with a yorkshire/Italian accent....we found out he was Venetian!
Nobody had starters but all enjoyed mains and desserts. I had the spinach and ricotta ravioli (im vegetarian) and it was delicious!
We all thought it was very reasonably priced and would make the effort to go back.

A wonderfull birthday. I have been to the dolce vita before on numerous occasions, i have to say that the food has always been consistent , and the staff all seem to be very friendly. the last time we went is because of a free birthday meal for my wife( its a promotion that they run for the dolce vita birthday club , After a deubious conversation on whether or not there would be provisos and restrictions on the voucher we decided to give it a try).
The voucher did exactly what it said, a free starter and main course of her choice, (no limits ) so already, a pleasing start to the evening. the greeting and service that we recieved was second to non, whilst one of the floor staff was playing the piano, another was seating us and asking if we had any special requirements.
the waiting time of the food was excellent, with free bread and oil to keep us going and a lovely ambiance to support.
i have to point out that they must have changed the chef since our last visit the new kitchen team really do know what they are doing ,
my wife had the sea bas fillets , with a sweet pepper comfit whils i had the venison with a bitter chocolate sauce, the problem that followed was i really didnt know which one to try first. the service was first class and the food surpassed any expectation that we previously had.
on summing up, i (we ) would recomend the dolce vita to any one and every one, a great night with my wife and family, we were made to feel at home by the staff, a big well done and we see you alll very soon
George 'n' Michele

A Friendly environment and lovely food. We have visited Dolce Vita on several occasions over the last few years due to it being on our doorstep and some of the reviews are correct in someways. However since they took on a new head chef the food has improved tremendously, Prices are also reasonable with starters around £5-£6 and pasta's/pizza about £8. They do have offer nights also which we had last time, It was surf & Turf with all meat/fish main courses at £10 each. The Chicken i had cooked with a mustard sauce was great. Pay a visit and make up your own mind.

It Aint That Bad.... It's a low cost pizza house, no more, no less. I've never had cause to complain, Pizza are always good enough, Saltimbocca pleases.

Hey, it's an Italian pizza place, rude staff are de rigeur, surely. Though it has never been something that I have noted.

I wouldn't bother. The service was brisk though we had to ask twice for some things. It was friendly enough until we complained and then it got quite rude.

It was reasonably busy and the restaurant, which is a converted Methodist chapel/school is quite a big place. Not a venue for a romantic meal as the lighting is in industrial proportions.

The food was, in the main, poor and in some cases just dreadful. As we were a party of seven I won't go into details as this review would be just too long. A steak had to be returned twice as, despite a request for it to be rare, turned out to be done to death. On the third attempt, the steak was cooked ok, but had clearly been just taken out of the fridge so while the outside was nicely cooked, the inside was icy cold. The seafood salad consisted mainly of squid (which is fair enough) but had been sat in its over-vinegared dressing for so long that it had the consistency and taste of seaside pickled cockles.

The restaurant is located in a village south of Huddersfield and unless you live there it is definitely not worth the drive/taxi out there. Altogether a very poor experience - I would avoid.

Underwhelming. We booked a table at short notice (we were seated within 30mins of ringing) which is good but an indication the restaurant isn't getting a huge number of visitors given that the time of our booking was at 7.45pm on a Saturday night. Unsurprisingly, the restaurant was quiet when we got there.

We were greeted by a maitre d, who mixed a faux Italian accent with broad Barnsley. He seemed oddly quizzical over the absence of our fourth guest (he'd popped to the toilet by the way - no big deal we thought).

We were then seated, promptly. Let's get the good points out of the way - nice interior decor, and the toilets were quite nice. They had Peroni on the drinks menu which is always good but a very limited range of wines by the glass. The prices are also good - £7.90 for the majority of pizza and pasta dishes.

Now the bad.

Bruschetta is a nice starter to share at an Italian restaurant. It wasn't on the menu so we politely asked. "Nope!" was the curt reply, the maitre d' answering in passing without much of a glance at our table. Remember, he's hardly busy, the restaurant is half full at best.

So we passed on the starters. Now for the mains - and here's where it gets bad.

Two of us had Spag Bol, another had a burger, and our fourth guest had a steak.

I tucked into my spag bol with earnest and found it to be bland, lacking flavour and spice, and appearing unsalted. I have never had to season a spag bol on my plate with salt, that should be done in cooking. But this time it had to be done - lots of pepper and a good sprinkling of salt. Oh dear!

My sister, another on the spag bol, also found it to be rather tasteless. I shouldn't call it spaghetti bolognese anyway - it's linguini, this Italian restaurant doesn't have any spaghetti!

Now to the disgusting burger. It arrived hardly cooked - red raw in the middle. It was left uneaten and after telling the waiter when he was clearing up the plates that it was not satisfactory he replied: "Oh well."

Overall:
THE GOOD: nice interior decor and good prices
THE BAD: poor service (could be seen as rude), limited wine menu, and very poor food.

We will not be returning to La Dolce Vita until they replace the chef with someone who knows how to cook, and the maitre d' with someone who values the customer's experience.

Constantly underwhelmed. I have to say, we keep giving La Dolce Vita the benefit of the doubt and we keep going back. But I am consistently underwhelmed by the service and the food - sorry guys - you have such an incredible opportunity where you are but the food is average at best! Pizza is usually a safe bet, but tonight I could swear that the ham on mine was actually spam!!! Also we can accept that 'rude' is actually 'quirky' if the rest is ok, but it really isn't! We really want to like you, but you make it very hard!
