Iron Nugget

I go here all the time and I do love it but the last time I was there it started off not great. We walked in and told the hostess that there was two of us and my husband started saying we don’t mind waiting and then asking if we can go have a drink first. She almost instantly put her hand up in his face and cut him off mid sentence saying I have to check. We don’t ever mind waiting. The hostess is the first person you see when you walk in and are the face of the restaurant. You don’t want the first moment to be a bad one because it will ruin your meal. We will of course be back because we love it there and the food is always great. I just hope she will be nicer next time.

We were looking for a great burger or fish fry. The Owner of the motel we stayed at highly recommended Iron Nugget. We chose to sit at the bar among other great conversing locals and guests. It was great chatting and being very welcoming. My wife and I each had the Friday fish fry. She had the breaded fish which had an incredible breading, crisp and crunchy yet not heavy or oily. I had the blackened. Excellent flavors. We were told the fish was haddock! We chose the "pinecones" as our sides. They are little pinecone shapes of mashed potatoes lightly breaded and fried. Again, not oily , very great taste. We each added a side salad and had fresh baked bread. Service from bar tends was Excellent! We definitely will return next trip.

Passing through a small town at 7:30pm, we tried 2 places where open meant closed. "Mom, the lights are on and I see people!" Iron Nugget turned out to be an amazing dining solution. Great service, regional beer on tap, excellent food and interesting museum-like decor. Highly recommend the cheesy bread and shrimp fra diavolo. October 2021

Great service and very generous portions of high quality food. Everything looked and tasted very freshly prepared. Tried the cheese curds as an appetizer, chicken Italiano and ravioli with meatballs as our main course choices - definitely needed boxes as each of the dinners were enough for two on their own. Would recommend to anyone passing through or visiting nearby.

Now that I have visited 3 times and had multiple dishes I can say the food was pretty good. Italian gnocchi was a hit and beer selection is great. A few pieces of silverware were not totally clean, likely because Italian dishes with cheese is always hard to clean off silverware, that is my only criticism. Great staff and a nice environment.
