Review The Guinness Arms - Icklingham

Had dinner here last week with a group of friends and had a great time. The decor inside is lovely, just love it! The food was phenomenal. I had the swordfish dish and cleaned my plate. So so good! I had the sticky pudding for dessert and it was also delicious. I loved everything about this place and plan to bring my family so we can try the carvery.

First time visiting! And will definitely be back! Great food, lovely interior. We booked last minute and had such a lovely set up in the bar. My only critique would be to have Carrots & Parsnips with the roast, but that’s just me :-)

I attended a family function here. The organisation and service was truly exceptional. Wonderful food - great selection of drinks. The garden setting, with the terrace is fantastic. A great place for family of all ages to gather. It's great to see the former Red Lion back in service, modernised and extended, but retaining its original character.

Excellent food, expensive but standard for this area- the swordfishwas very well cooked, meaty but not tough. Took family of 5, it was early lunchtime so quiet. This also meant that some things were amiss, the wine was warm and one of the deserts requested had not had time to set so was unavailable. The staff were excellent though and allowed us to return the undrunk wine without charge.

The Guinness Arms is a beautiful old pub which has been renovated to a very high standard. The food is exceptional and the staff are ever better, the epitome of excellent customer service. You won’t go wrong with the haddock and chips, highly recommend.

We booked a table for 5 for a Sunday Roast to celebrate my wifes birthday. Arrived at 12.45pm which was just about right as this pubs gets very busy. The food was very good with just the right portions and not too expensive considering the cost of eating out nowadays. The service was excellent as all the staff were working hard and attentitive. Highly recommend this establishment.

The Guinness Arms is a charming pub in the village of Icklingham, Suffolk. It has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with a large fireplace in the main bar and a cozy seating area in the snug. The food is excellent, with a wide range of options to choose from. We had the fish and chips, which were perfectly cooked and crispy on the outside and flaky and moist on the inside. The burger was also very good, with a juicy patty and all the fixings. The kids' fish and chips were a hit with our young diners, who ate every last bite. The service was friendly and attentive, and the prices were reasonable. Overall, we had a great experience at the Guinness Arms and would definitely recommend it to others.

Had a shared roast lunch with my partner ... delicious! Staff very helpful and courteous, amenities were all clean and fresh. Beautiful pub and garden. Good value for money. Can't recommend the deserts as we were too full to have one!

We stopped at the Guinness Arms for an evening meal after Dragonfest at the Anglo-Saxon village. We hadn't booked and there were only outside tables but that was fine as the weather was lovely and they have a really nice play area. I had the fish and extremely chunky chips and it was a very generous portion with tasty pea mush and Tatar sauce. My son had the burger from the kids (fawns) menu and we asked that it have no char grilling as he won't eat anything which is as he would call it "burnt" they did it perfectly. My OH had the confit duck and really enjoyed it. The staff were helpful and friendly and the setting was clean and quite pretty. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend it.
