I have eaten at this restaurant 6/7 times over the last couple of years and always find the food consistently good and of a high quality with good generous portions. The prices are very low for the quality of food served and I feel its one of those hidden gems that once you've been you will always go back. The staff are very attentive and the atmosphere is perfect for lunch or a quiet romantic meal. My advice is always book because this place has its own following so tables are not available all the time.
Outstanding! This place is a real hidden gem. Incredible value at around £20 for three courses, even before you discover how exceptional the food is. Lovely, cosy but classy setting, the owners / chefs serve you themselves and you can tell how much pride and care they take with everything. The mackerel scotch egg was cooked to perfection and worked perfectly, and crisp, slow cooked lamb was melt in the mouth and the bed of vegetables fresh, and full of flavour. Great options for vegetarians as well, which even tempted me, as a habitual meat eater. I'd you don't go here when you have the chance, you're doing yourself a disservice :)
Great food at affordable prices. Menu doesn't have a huge amount to choose from (4 or 5 for each of start, main and dessert) and it doesn't change much seasonally but there is always something tempting to try and it's always cooked to perfection. Cozy atmosphere, good service and a decent wine list.
Excellent service for my dietary needs and very willing to swap things out for more veg for my dairy, gluten and soy free needs. They don't offer gluten free bread though and wouldn't be suitable for coeliacs due to the small size of their facility.
I don't know how Richard produces such wonderful meals from such a small kitchen. Friendly and attentive staff too. Excellent value for money. What's not to like!?
Delicious meals, beautifully cooked and presented. Very friendly staff and chef. Would recommend a visit to anyone if you're able to make it. 10/10 5* from me.
Richard serves amazing food here, its fresh interesting and honest, great for dinner or brunch on a weekend, poached eggs delicious. Good cheese and wine too. Very lucky to have this in Ilkley.
This small but very friendly little café and bistro opens for coffee, lunch, and dinner. The menu changes regularly with the seasons, and food is prepared to a high standard in our experience. There is a good value early bird offer in the evening which at the time of writing was £12.95 for two courses, or £15.95 for three. This offer is for the early sitting (6-6.30pm), with a second later sitting at 8-8.30pm.
We were very impressed with the food - confit duck salad / asparagus and hollandaise on a spring onion blini with poached egg were our starters, and then a pea and field mushroom orzotto as a main course. The service was very attentive, perhaps because of the rather intimate setting of the dining room (which feels like being in someone's front room). The kitchen is just in the next room, and the chef popped out to check on things from time to time and make sure all was well. This could be irritating if you wanted to be alone, but the staff are so friendly I'm sure they would realise if you'd rather not be disturbed. It was good to see a chef and small team who seem to really care about the food they are serving, and in pleasing their diners. We will definitely be returning.
Possiblity the best garlic mushrooms I've ever eaten
Went for breakfast this morning with friends. Very solid breakfast choices. The owner cooks and helps to serve it himself. Very friendly. Would highly recommend
Lovely dinner in the bistro, freshly cooked and delicious. Very good value for money and efficient and friendly service. Highly recommend.
This is a special place for us. Richard is very welcoming and soon becomes like a friend. The food is always of a very high quality to a bistro level
Lovely place! I popped in for lunch and ordered a toastie. The beauty of this place is that they can make the "ordinary" very special. Definitely 5 stars!!
Really friendly service, with an informal and relaxed feel about the place. Had a very tasty bacon & brie toasty (fried bread was a nice touch) Thanks 👍
Been for breakfast several times now. Always fantastic, fresh food, free coffee refills and best of all Fried Bread !!! Brilliant tasty and unhealthy and proper breakfast.
Fantastic food! Hosted a private party for 20 guests. Excellent service and great food as always
Tiny little cafe. But well worth a visit. Simple food but wonderfully cooked and friendly helpful staff.
Would highly recommend
The rhubarb and ginger Eton mess was especially good 😀😀😀😉
Absolutely fabulous. We love the food, the service is excellent, very friendly staff and surprisingly for Ilkley not too expensive.
Love it here, whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Small and cosy with friendly helpful staff. Quality instead of turnover are driving force.
