On advice from locals at the Cross Inn lewis we visited the museum wonderful display and very informative and helpful staff. My Great grandparents came from 16 Cross very humbling experience travelling from Australia and seeing the Lewis and Cross thanks for experience.

Stopped to have a look at the cafe and found one of the most interesting places in Ness. The museum was one of the best we were in full of local information even the cafe had a video of places to see. The cafe was really good and reasonably priced, serving lattes etc with vegan options everywhere. Loved it so much we stopped the next day when we were leaving for Harris

Lovely facility with a good cafe. No dogs allowed but we sat outside in the bench provided- beautiful day. I could imagine it could get busy with coach tours but we were lucky. Well worth a visit. Bronze Age artefacts are very special.

A wonderful welcome! (Thank you!) I felt so guilty that we couldn't stop, but it's logged into my Google maps under "want to go"! We will come back. Looks like a really well laid out museum, fresh and modern but a lovely representation of the old times. We only had time to grab a take away coffee, but it rounded off a wonderful trip through the outer Hebrides, where everywhere we have found lovely community shops, centres and cafes, a wonderful welcome and fantastic produce. We will come back. Tapadh leat!

Nice little community museum with some great information on the island, and a lovely gift shop. On the day we visited there was a private event so the cafe was closed but staff were lovely and offered to provide takeaway if wanted which was really nice of them

Brought my Dad here as his father was originally from Ness. We thought it was fantastic, items were displayed well and with great thought, the whole place was immaculately clean and the staff were wonderful. The coffee shop was well laid out, menu choices were very good, the staff were lovely and the service was swift. Would highly recommend a visit to this place.

A must-see stop on any trip around Lewis - the community here are so welcoming and wonderful. We were greeted with smiles and a brief tour as we entered, pointing out the free public toilets, the well stocked cafe, and museum exhibits and that it was free to enter and wander around. The exhibits were informative and interesting, the care of the historical society is clear on everything they have set up and done here. The shop is a treasure trove of excellent produce from fudge to farming books, it absolutely requires a visit.

Very nice museum with well informed and enthusiastic guides. Learned a lot about the history of the isles and about the large number of people who went to Canada.

We got a friendly welcome when we arrived at the door, it was very busy with a tour bus in, yet they managed to fit us in, a family of 4. We were there for the cafe but enjoyed looking around the museum after our lunch. The food was all tasty, good value and served by friendly staff.
