Best latte I have had for an exceedingly long time. The bacon roll had three or four thick pieces in and was really good too, lovely roll with enough body to stand up for itself. The waitresses were also friendly, attentive but not overbearing. Will certainly make a point to return

It is worth seeking out this great little cafe. I ate here yesterday with my niece at lunchtime. It is a lovely cosy and warm cafe/ restaurant. The team were very friendly and the menu is interesting. We both had the mushrooms in cream sauce on sourdough. Absolutely delicious! Hot and tasty and perfect for lunch. all the food I saw go past us looked lovely. The cakes looked very good as well. I will be back next I come and see my dad in Kendal. Thank you.

Beautiful coffee and beautiful homeade soup. Just what was needed, the cakes also looked inviting but maybe next time. Who knew soup could be so filling!

Dropped in on late Saturday afternoon as most of Kendal seemed to be packing up for the day! If it wasn't for the signs on Branthwaite Brow you'd easily miss this little cafe which is hidden away in a yard down an alley. Just grabbed a couple of coffees and cakes from the counter. Faultless. Quick, friendly service in comfortable surroundings.

Yard 46 was recommended locally. However, you have to be on the ball to find this quirky restaurant tucked away near the Market Square in Kendal, a great little Lakeland town. It’s down a tight close (alley) with a lampost and bike at the front door. We actually missed the door and headed for the outside part of the restaurant where the toilets are located. You pass the kitchen and the smell was intoxicating. We ventured in. It was chilly outside despite the blue sky and sunshine. This was late February and snow clung to the tops of the neighbouring hills. Pretty but cold. A bowl of warming soup was required and the soup de jour was leek and potato but not as you would normally make it. This soup had garlic oil on top. It was served with thick, crusty sourdough bread made in the kitchen. It was so good we bought a loaf. And the taste? A tad too much garlic oil for me, but it hit the spot and the log fire in the cosy downstairs section (there is a larger space upstairs) was another attraction. Worth a visit if you like home-cooked food in an unusual setting. It appeared from our short stay that this is a place where business people go to chat and meet. Good taste.

Research for the best coffee in the area by the missus brought us here for a late lunch after a morning walking the other side of the M6. The coffee and hot chocolates were amazing! We treated ourselves to lunch also. Delicious homemade mushroom soup, duck egg on toast with spinach, a really tasty New York pastrami sarnie (all the trimmings), cumberland chipolata sarnies (but the kids said the best they have had) all served on home baked sourdough rolls. Very friendly service and a lovely atmosphere.

A class act. Great food and staff, and probably the best bread in kendal. Definitely a place to eat in if you are in the area.

Beautiful freshly prepared food! This was my third meat at Yard 46 and I've not been let down once yet. I highly recommend the truffles poached eggs and Chorizo on toast.

What a find this place was. From the moment you step into the courtyard and through the quirky front door you're in food heaven! My partner chose the Docker Roll - an amazing combo of home baked sourdough bread, duck egg, potato rosti, melted cheese, spinach and tomato. I had the oozy truffled poached eggs on sourdough toast with cheese sauce, spinach and chorizo. Out of this world! I followed this with a fabulous coffee and white chocolate cupcake and we both had a huge pot of leaf tea. Wouldn't hesitate to return. May even have to find another reason to be in Kendal in the near future!

Yard 46 is an excellent Cafe tucked away in the centre of Kendal. The dining areas upstairs and down are very trendy. Great food and brilliant service. What impressed more than anything is the wonderful staff. Well done.

My friend and I called in for lunch today I have been in a few times for coffee (really good) And promised myself I’d call back in for lunch. I wasn’t disappointed. I had humus with peppers and halloumi. Absolutely delicious. My friend and I also had a black currant and walnut crumble slice between us. That too was amazing. Staff really helpful and friendly. Definitely returning to this hidden gem. Xx

This is a great little place tucked away out of view. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. There is a small seating area downstairs and a larger space upstairs. They take your order from the table and you pay downstairs on your way out. Good menu selection including options for vegetarians. Lovely dark hot chocolate with oat milk and crumpies with emmental cheese.

Excellent service from staff the food was tasty and served well. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. Have met my friends here for lunch in the past and have enjoyed every time as the food was good and we do not feel rushed and can take our time and catch up on our news.

Excellent service, nice atmosphere and layout, good place for relaxed lunches and snacks on the go. Good coffee and they are willing to up the caffeine to shock levels. Staff are friendly and attentive. They have a muffin/crumpet merger I have not tried yet but will do so on my visit next year

What a great little place, hidden away up one of many great yards in Kendal, small but great vibes. Wonderful food and the service was lovely. Lots of friendly locals and visitors and a few dogs thrown in the mix too when we visited. Highly recommend :)

We called in Saturday lunch and wasn’t expecting anything special after being disappointed in so many other places However, we had a fabulous meal with attentive service from excellent staff. The chef really knows how to make flavour combinations work.

Always a warm welcome and a varied menu with something different, I had sardines cooked in the tin which were delicious, also lucky to visit on a warm day so ate in the little yard behind the cafe.
