I came in last night with my mum, two sisters and my two son's for a meal on the eve of my wedding. From start to finish the service was fantastic and the food was wonderful. It was so relaxing and I was made to feel really special with all the staff wishing me good luck and making a fuss of the boys. I can't wait to come back again, Thank you for a lovely evening x

Birthday meal for Dad - all we hoped for. The lamb steaks were HUGE and everyone really enjoyed our family time together. Very accommodating around my nephews who got exactly what they wanted even though it wasn't quite on the menu. Staff lovely. As usual. Thank you. Sx

Nice little dining establishment. We had the soup of the day, and it was beautiful. As far as pub grub goes, this was perfect. My partner had the gammon, and I had the chicken and mash no complaints with neither choice. I was 56 quid for 2 well-made starters, 2 large and cooked perfectly dinners and two drinks. No complaints.

Every year 8 of us meet for lunch We all went to school together many moons ago. We started meeting when we all reached 50 we are now celebrating our 80th birthdays and we have tried numerous places for lunch . Last year we came to Alexander’s and enjoyed it so decided we would come again this year. Again it didn’t disappoint. The waiter was a lovely young man who informed us we could have smaller portions if we wanted. Most of us opted for the smaller ones and there was ample on the plate. I had the beef it came with 1roast potato mashed potato, carrot and swede, parsnips broccoli and cauliflower and Yorkshire pudding and several slices of beef. The only thing was that the broccoli and cauliflower wasn’t cooked enough for me . Sticky toffee pudding to follow. All for £14.99 The whole meal (apart from hard veg) was delicious. See you next year

We pop in here for a drink from time to time and always like it. We decided to walk in and have a Sunday roast for a change and it didn’t disappoint. One beef roast and one pork and both were perfectly cooked and we both really enjoyed our meal. We even sat outside to finish our drinks as the sun came out.

Stayed at the Castle Green on our weekend to the Lake District and the reception booked us in to Alexanders. We were very impressed with the experience. The staff are very friendly and the food was delicious. Especially the chocolate brownie! I hope we can visit again soon.

We ate our main meal at Alexanders having driven through Friday afternoon traffic from the Midlands. The menu was interesting and our three course meals were excellent. The staff were helpful, pleasant and knowleagble.

Great service from the start the staff were very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was lovely. The food was great. The entertainment ( Amy Anderson Walmsley) made the evening with her fantastic voice.

The atmosphere is delightful. Alexander's is quite unlike anywhere else I've eaten. Although a limited menu, it is excellently executed. Portions are generous and although prices may seem more expensive than your average pub grub at first glance of the menu, once served you won't be disappointed. The staff are very attentive.

Food was fantastic, big portions reasonable price. Its a lovely setting for a family meal. There's a new head chef and he's done a fab job of updating the menu. I had the buttermilk chicken burger and fries. It was delicious, very hot, fresh cooked food. Can't fault it.

I ate here, with two colleagues, twice recently. The first evening, my haddock was slightly disappointing - the batter was a bit stodgy for my taste, but my colleague's meals were excellent. The next evening I had salmon with new potatoes and veg and it was delcious. The staff friendly and attentive without overdoing it. I would certainly eat there again. I'm assured by my colleagues that the haddock is usually as good as the rest of the menu.

It is fantastic that there are a few vegan options which shows how they are changing with the times. The burger was delicious but the butternut squash dish was sloppy and looked more like thick soup, which was on its own with no rice; this was my only gripe, but hats off anyway for offering vegan! The place is very friendly, service very good and location fantastic. Prices a little high but you get this in Kendal.
