Lovely traditional Cumbrian pub serving lots of local beers & spirits, particularly local ‘Cumbria/Lake District’ Gins. There was A beer festival this weekend offering a good range of real ales & live music. Good selection of outside seating on patio or in the garden area. Dogs welcome inside & out.
Food enjoyed by 4 people with very digger tastes. Everyone enjoyed. Good quality food and portions. Staff friendly and helpful.
Lovely, well kept, very old pub! Excellent pub food, very generous portions, very good prices. Excellent staff. In perfect location in the middle of lots of easy walking routes, therefore very popular with families and weekend walkers. We got a table easily at 3pm at the end of October, but would
Great pub. We had a the vegetarian pie and the pie of the day (chicken, basil and sundried tomatoe), both were fantastic and very clearly homemade which made them even better. It was a Thursday night; I'm glad we booked because it was quite busy. The staff were great, very nice and attentive. Dog
I will start by saying the place looks run down, but I think it gives a mysterious look and I loved it. We were heading to Sizergh when we saw the place by accident and decided to stop and eat. They have a good size parking and many outdoor and indoor dining areas. Even if the service wasn’t 5🌟 and
Lovely food, friendly staff, excellent service. Never had pigeon breast before. Pie of the day was delicious.
Haven't read any reviews but called in for quick lunch on way from Sizergh....enough choice on menu but not too many....pie of the day was just wonderful with excellent fresh veg n chips.....fish n chips was perfect too....great value and lovely service
The best proper country food with an elegant twist served in a relaxed atmosphere and free from any pompous nonsense. From toddler to 60's, our whole party thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. Absolutely recommend the chicken with the fondant potatoes, stunning!
Had a fantastic meal out, really good options for both dairy and gluten free, which is really hard to find! Normally vegan or gluten free but rare to find good options for both allergies in one. Despite being clearly very busy the staff managed to make us feel looked after. Highly recommended.
Definitely worth a visit went to sizergh castle and popped in they managed to serve 10 ppl no booking, wow, food was amazing I would definitely recommend this place.
