Called in for a drink ended up booking a room for next year having a meal which was first class and we can’t thank that bar manager enough can highly recommend the place
Absolutely fabulous food. Just how it should be. The staff were a benchmark others should strive to match. If you love home cooked food this is the place to eat.

The staff and the patrons made us feel so welcomed, it was exhilarating. We got a bit of local flavor when the staff and patrons had do much to share about the food, local places to see- historical information. Anything we asked . The food was wonderful added to the friendly atmosphere.
Great friendly pub in the centre of town. Highly recommend for food drinks and a game of pool. Five star for sure 😃
Food was divine, we all tasted eachother's and all loved each and every dish. The staff and service were excellent, really friendly and were willing to feed us dessert even after the kitchen closed and even when the chef/landlady had dinner plans herself. We will most definitely be back again when we're visiting Kendal. Most highly recommended ⛥⛥⛥⛥⛥
From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel very welcome. The staff were friendly and helpful and made our short stay very relaxing. The room was warm & comfortable and had everything you need. Tea & coffee etc. We had a comfortable night & a great breakfast. To top it off, we were offered free parking for the day after we had checked out. The Shakespeare Inn is a jewel in a lovely town.
Popped in today for Sunday lunch and didnt disappoint. Top food (and generous portions) friendly staff even when it was really busy. Lovely atmosphere will defo go again when we are in town. Thank you so much! X

We got married in Kendal registry office and chose the Shakespeare for our stay....we couldnt have wished for better hosts, David and Lynne made us feel most welcome, the accomodation was great, the breakfast was fantastic, we would recommend to anyone, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thanks guys.
Great family meals on Friday, there were 7 of us and not one complaint, friendly staff and we didn't feel rushed to finish and leave
Lovely meal, welcoming staff, wish there had of been a high chair for my 2 year old but other than that we enjoyed our lunch here �

Nice and central, lovely staff. Just be aware that the parking is through a narrow passage from the main road. Very tight if you have a large car. Mine is 1.902 m wide and it was *tight*. I did make it though.
Great service and lovely food. We walked in as a party of 7 and it was no trouble at all. One member of staff on shift but he saw to us all without a single complaint 🙏. Would definitely recommend a visit
A lovely little pub in Kendal, we ducked in to get out of the rain and enjoyed a fantastic meal with great service. We will definitely be back the next time we visit the Lakes!
I am a professional musician and I work with megastars. My wife and I were in Kendal to see and meet world class international concert pianist and genius, Isata Kanneh-Mason, the eldest sibling of the most talented family in the world. We had a fantastic Sunday lunch at The Shakespeare. The food, the staff and the venue are perfect and we really appreciate being made so welcome and having such a lovely Sunday lunchtime at this Inn. We highly recommend The Shakespeare Inn. Bravo to the chef as well, our food was gorgeous.
Have had a fantastic experiences at the Shakespeare Inn. We booked for 15 people, which included various dietary requirements and allergies, and they were so accommodating. I have been so impressed with there communication.
The Shakespeare has a friendly atmosphere, everyone was welcoming and helpful. The food was excellent, not a single person had a bad word to say. Everyone was stuffed and we had to roll home.

For my 80th birthday my family arranged a surprise weekend away in Kendal at the Shakespeare Inn which was idyllic. We had a fantastic time and I thank the management and staff for taking good care of us. I highly recommend it.

Nice little bar. Reasonable price. Good atmosphere. Very busy little bar as it was Kendal music festival. We had our drinks listening to a great sax and keyboard duo. Loved the atmosphere and felt comfortable.
Pub restaurant based in the centre of Kendal doesn’t look much from the entrance but inside it’s a very clean and tidy pub. Staff were friendly and food was great. I ate the southern fried chicken burger which was different and adding the sweet dip to it made it so much better. Family all enjoyed the drinks and food they had too.
