Food was lovely, price was good but more importantly the service was excellent. Peter was fab with the kids (and the bigger kids) and was nothing but friendly, chatty and actually managed to avoid one of my pet peeves when eating out with children. He brought the kids meals out first!!! I was so happy, everywhere I go they seem to bring adults meals out and then 10 minutes later kids meals which means that we don’t get to eat our food anyway because we have hangry kids. Definitely worth a visit! Thank you Peter and staff!

Nice little pub, the landlord and landlady made the experience fab, made us feel very welcome and when they learned we were on honeymoon they recommend somewhere amazing to eat, booked the table for us and organized a celebratory for us drink when we arrived there. Truly lovely people, customer experience faultless, prices reasonable too. 5* all day, every day!!

Wonderful welcome and service. Real attention to detail regarding my food allergy. I can honestly say I had the vegetable and cheese crumble was amazing value for money and of top class standard. Lovely atmosphere , nothing too much for the hosts to do . Will be visiting here again

Now known as The Principal, this is a great pub, nicely decorated, lovely photos of old Kendal to enjoy, a fantastic dartboard upstairs, along with some big screen TVs showing sport. I enjoyed myself so much the 1st time I went on that I went back the next day, and not only because I was hoping to see the beautiful woman I was talking with. Tea and toast are available in the morning, and tea cakes all day (I think), and the temporary manager couldn't have been more welcoming, even bringing the toaster back out when I asked for toast at nearly lunchtime. However that is the only food available other than crisps etc, and especially considering the central location of the pub, right on Market Square, I have taken a star off for this, there are other places to eat around it's location, but I think a decent menu would definitely elevate this establishment to a 5 star rating.

They don't food but they have a decent selection of beers etc. The place has only just reopened under new owners as a free house, which means they sell their drinks cheaper than tied pubs. It has been refurbished to a very good standard which makes for a comfortable friendly atmosphere. There is more room upstairs, where you will find a dart board and TVs for watching sports etc.

Comfortable and friendly. Seats and tables upstairs. Toilets and bar are downstairs. Decent food for fair price. Our waiter was great and very helpful.

The Globe Inn is more of a traditional pub with a broader menu than just standard pub fare. It is well located in the pedestrian area of Kendal. The pie of the day was steak pie which was priced well, meaty, and savory. The mashed potatoes were unspectacular, bit benefitted from the gravy. The cabbage and carrots that accompanied the meal were cooked were the proper firmness. The service was good and amiable.

Visited this pub on a Saturday afternoon. Large dining area upstairs with plenty of seats. The person taking the orders was very friendly and chatty, and mentioned the soup and pie of the day whilst passing out the menus. Food was very tasty although slightly salty. Payment is done downstairs at the bar.

We stayed here for Christmas lunch, party of ten from Leeds. Nothing was too much trouble, food gorgeous. Vivienne and Pete looked after us so well, they even had a present each for my 2 little one's, so thoughtful. We thoroughly enjoyed Christmas day at the Globe inn. Will definitely be back in the summer and I highly recommend for drinks, food and a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The perfect pub for a nice pint of well kept ale on a wet and windy day. Friendly landlord and locals. OOPS - reviewed the wrong pub! It was actually a wet and windy evening. and we popped in for a bit to eat. All home cooked. Ales were off unfortunately - new delivery settling in the seller so had to rough it with keg, still well kept though. Landlord was a Yorkshireman and made us feel welcome. Well worth a visit

Excellent home cooked food locally sourced. A welcome break away from the mass produced stuff which otherwise fills the plates whilst on holiday. Sociable staff and amazing photos. Well worth a punt if you are looking for something to enjoy, rather than simply eat.

We travelled to the Lake District from Scotland for a week away. We visited the Globe Inn for some lunch which was brilliant and the gammon steak was the best I've had. There was a lingering smell of damp but would understand that with places being closed for sometime but this would not put us off coming back.
