Hate to do a bad review but feel i need too. Always loved eating here, but it was a complete disappointment today. I've always raved about the home made chunky chips but they were soggy and dark brown, they tasted of stale cooking oil and the rest of the meal was tasteless and under seasoned. The bar and waiting on staff were lovely however. Fingers crossed its a blip and it's back to its great standards soon .
Called in only by chance, as passing by one lunchtime. Attentive to our food needs, friendly service too. Not a vast menu but most pub classics included, even a fish & chip chicken curry with half and half, lovely!!
Home made cuisine, caters for vegetarians too. Spacious area for inside drinking on other side of dining area.

I would definitely recommend this place for a midweek meal. Sunday is extremely busy which meant we had to use a table in the bar area which was rather cramped, also the menu was very restricted.
I have been here many times in week and couldn't fault the food or the service.
5pm Early Dinner, opted for Sizzler Offer (mon+tue). Lovely platter, Great value. Service was excellent. We will be visiting again soon,!
Close to Maghull Station and the local busses, this is well worth a visit. Quality food and excellent value for money. "Light Bites" on the menu, for those with a smaller appetite.
A pleasant, clean environment with friendly, helpful, efficient staff. Good real ales as well (added bonus) plus Beck's Blue as a non-alcoholic option. As a Greene King Pub I'm surprised they didn't have the low-alcohol "Old Speckled Hen", which for many would be a better option! One for them to consider perhaps?
Popped in for a drink prior to going to a gig. Nice to be able to sit outside on a warm evening. Staff friendly, will go again.

Nice roast, reasonably priced, good service. Meat & potatoes ok, could have done with a little more veg.

Good range of drinks, area to sit outside, does food but haven't yet eaten there.
Beautiful meals, great value under £12 including coffee and a coke. Lovely friendly service a pleasure to have a spur of the moment lunch out with a friend. Thank you.
