Barry Bagels

The bad: the bagel dog (with cheese) was apparently completely inedible. My son said it was hard as a rock and the hot dog was burnt and tough (and he said too wrinkly… whatever that means. It (and the nearly 8 dollars that I spent on it) went immediately into the trash. The good: basic bagels. Probably always a safe bet. The fact that I had to throw away the most expensive thing that I ordered (the lunch for one of my children) means I won’t be going back.

When I entered this restaurant, I was pleasantly greeted by a staff member.The gentleman who took my order was pleasant and professional. I had always wanted to try matzo-ball soup and I was not disappointed. I also purchased a just out of the oven oatmeal raisin cookie that was awesome. Needless to say, I had a good experience and will frequent Barry's Bagles more often.

For a long time, it was hard to find a true New York style bagel experience in or around the Dayton area. Since Barry Bagels came to Kettering, this void has been filled!!! Large variety of bagels that are boiled and baked in-house, there is even a window to see the “magic” The local owners seem wonderful and the staff has been friendly every visit.

If you have never eaten at Barry Bagels you are missing out! They in-house make all their bagels AND cream cheese. There are so many options for sandwiches. My favorite is the hot corned beef with Swiss cheese on an everything bagel. Don’t sleep on their egg and chicken salad though! These are amazing! Do yourself a favor and use Barry's catering for a bridal/baby shower or luncheon. The set up and presentation is lovely and the salads they bring to accompany the bagels-cream cheese, meats, cheese and all the toppings will wow your guests. The owners are hands on and greet you by name and make sure your order is perfect. Top off your meal with one of their fantastic cookies or my favorite rice krispy treats! Bringing Barry Bagels to Kettering was a great choice!

Excellent bagels, poor execution, otherwise 5 stars. I came in an hour before close and could tell I wasn’t wanted. Boxes for inventory were everywhere and mats rolled up. Kid was sweeping inches from my table to get out. I wanted a quick dine in. I ordered my bagels, one butter one cream cheese, and they didn’t bother to toast them. If that’s not a given (should be), at least ask the guest? So I guess I’ll try to enjoy this room temperature bagel with caked, cold butter 🤦🏻. Maybe I’ll just buy in bulk and toast on my own if it’s that much trouble. Great bagels for sure though.
