Stayed in Kettlewell during Easter week and visited The Racehorse pub on several occasions for dinner. From the first night we visited to all three subsequent visits, the team at the pub were outstanding, including Kevin the Owner who was extremely welcoming and made us feel so at home. Going above and beyond to look after us and ensure each evening was made extra special. To top it off, the food was so tasty, great quality and portions to please! Today on our final night we had a gorgeous roast and lots of fun at the quiz. It has several open fires, which on cold days, gives you the lift you need. Oh and also rooms to stay. upstairs. Thank you Kevin - we will most definitely be back!!
Trad pub with good beer and exceptional food (curry in particular) from the current chef.
Characters behind and in front of the bar may not suit the more pretentious visitor, but we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Tracehorses (as it should be known)
Hadn't planned to eat here but it was a Sunday evening and quiet so we tried it. The pub is welcoming, an open fire was burning, and there was plenty of space. Very pleasant staff, helpful and friendly. Great cask beers - Timothy Taylors (Landlord, Boltmaker etc) so quite local (Keighley W. Yorks) Menu was good, including a great choice of vegan and vegetarian options - our group had a vegan, good to get a choice rather than a token option. We all tried different things and it was good. Prices weren't too bad, I felt it was good value.
Lovely place, friendly staff and a really comfortable room. Excellent breakfast to start the day. We stayed two nights as attending a wedding in the village .
An excellent country puɓ/hotel..Highly recommended. Great location, ideal for walking or a base when touring the area. Ĝood parking and a bus stop outside if travelling on public transport. Our room was clean, comfortable and a good size. Nice views through its windows. Freindly staff. Superb food... evening meal and breakfast. All in all, super value. A place to return to, without a doubt.
Excellent accommodation, extremely pleasant and helpful staff, first-class chef and one of the most welcoming and friendly places we have stayed in the Dales. We would highly recommend the Racehorses. We will certainly be going back.
Really nice cozy pub, great friendly atmosphere. Food was too pricey for my budget, but after a long hike, sustenance was needed and it was delicious
I can only give the lovely people at the racehorses hotel 5 stars ...although me and my wife didn't stay at the hotel ....we tipped up in our campervan....and forgot our duvets and pillows 🤦....however the racehorses hotel to the rescue..they loaned us some bedding ....we decided to stay for a bite to eat and rhe food the service ...we really couldn't falt it ...we awoke Sunday morning to glorious sunshine....kettlewell is stunning
We have regularly stayed at this hotel over many years .
Wonderful location, very comfortable and warm and excellent meals. Greatly recommend a visit.
We stopped by here halfway through a walk. The staff were very pleasant. We ordered tea and this comes as individual tea pots of hot water with the teabag served on the side for you to brew your own tea. I don’t think tea brews as well when you don’t pour the hot water directly on the teabag and it was confusing. Otherwise very good.
My wife & I, along with our pooch, visited the Racehorses last night. Very nice pub, good selection of ales and a friendly landlord with a sense of humour. Out of the blue our dog needed a poop but was unable to reach the exit without making a mess! Mortified doesn't cut it but the staff were simply superb. I obviously tried to clean it up but they came to the rescue, they were brilliant. I can't thank them enough for their kindness, patience & understanding with a situation not in their remit! Amazing people, thank you so much and, once again, my apologies.
Great pub food. The Sunday lunch had a fabulous selection of perfectly cooked al dente vegetables. The beef was lovely and tender. The other half ordered beef suet crust pie which was tasty and filling, the chips were outstanding. Some wines by the glass that were different from the normal pub offerings. The staff were efficient and service was prompt. Highly recommend.
Only visited for lunch, which was excellent with friendly service
Amazing little hotel in the heart of the dales. The food is tasty with good vegan options and the staff are some of the most welcoming and accommodating hotel staff I’ve ever had the pleasure of encountering. Coal fired in the winters, dogs allowed and good beers in the bar.
Lovely meal, fast service. Generous portions. Premises a little tired post covid. Didn't use Amy of the rooms, hence no comment. Pleasant enough amongst stunning countryside.
had a great meal with the family - the beef suet pudding is worth the trip alone, lovely food and ambience
Fantastic traditional country inn. Kevin and the team are friendly and welcoming, the food is delicious and the beer crisp and fresh. Roaring fires provide a welcome winter respite, the wifi is reliable and surprisingly fast for such a rural spot. Very dog-friendly. All round a smashing place - thanks for everything.
