This is one of Hull's oldest pubs. It is very atmospheric, with original wood work on the inside. With interesting decor. The bar staff are nice, friendly and polite. The bar and seating area is kept clean and tidy. It's a nice quiet bar to drink in. Drinks are reasonably priced with a good selection to choose from.

A hidden gem in Hull old town, tucked away down a tiny alley which opens into a lovely courtyard where the floral displays have won several awards. A Theakston pub serving 6 real ales plus real ciders. This historic pub has a room used for plotting in the civil war, survived a substantial fire and houses a mysterious skull. I don't think there is any food? Beers in excellent condition. Friendly and we'll worth a visit.

What an absolute gem. It says 'warm welcome' on the way in.... they're true to their word. Great beer, comforting beef baguette and an incredible building... full of history. So glad I popped in.

Amazing little bub, steeped in history. (If you dont know look it up) Decent atmosphere even when empty which isn't very often. Lovely beer garden and sensible priced drinks. Staff and punters all friendly. A hidden gem.

A wonderful pub with great service. The owner of the pub even gave us access to the plotting room and made time to chat with us. His bartender gave us an informative tour - we are very appreciative to have met both of them. A real English pub - bravo and thank you.

What a cracker of a place! So much history, and fantastic stories from the regulars! Thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon, and if possible we'll be back 😀

Stunning pub and a good pint too. Not much conversation from the staff but a very pleasant experience overall. Had a good outdoor area too with plenty of sun mid-afternoon
