The food was tasty and fish were freshly cooked for us. They have different varieties for fish&chips, which is creative. Some dishes are a little bit pricey compared to other fish restaurants around.

Want to buy or order online some special Fish & Chips? - it must be your choice again.
Professional, exceptionally friendly, helpful staff and excellent food.
You can even pick the piece of fresh fish you fancy for dinner from the Fishmonger next door and they will cook it for you.
Highly recommended!

More than just a chippy…
This fish restaurant is attached to a fishmongers so the quality of their produce is amazing. We ate-in and they have a wide selection of delights beyond you standard fish n chips. The whole time we were there there was a queue for takeaway which is telling on a Friday night.
I had the grilled monkfish which was cooked to perfection and served with salsa verde. Will be going back for sure. Five stars!

Fish Kitchen is a nice seafood restaurant in my local area just down the road. It’s a popular restaurant with the locals and those outside. The food was tasty and the depending on what you order, the portions are very generous. Some items can be pricey but with the addition of being able to buy some fresh fish to take home from the monger it’s understandable. Not all of the items on the menu are worth trying because you can find them in many other chippies. If you’re willing to try other items such as the whole spicy langoustines then you are in for a treat.

Wonderful fish and chips. Will return on next UK visit.

Good quality food and drink - the battered cod was just right. Proper fish and chips! Also, the staff are friendly and efficient, giving recommendations from the menu. All Covid-19 safety measures were in place. Will definitely visit again, Thanks!!

Not only really great traditional fish and chips, but attached to the amazing next door fishmonger. All fish and seafood from there can also be cooked and served in the restaurant.
Very much worth (repeat) visits!

Really lovely place, Tomek who served me (that's what the receipt says) was fantastic. Professional, attentive and smiley, perfect combo for a waiter. Food was delicious, very fresh oysters and my prawns were perfectly cooked.

Sebastian was fantastic and it’s really appreciated that they managed to squeeze us in on short notice , fish was great as usual , thanks

Great food as ever, I have visited Fish Kitchen in Kingston several times and it's big sister at Borough Market once and I think they serve the best Fish in London at reasonable prices

I have walked past this place numerous times and just thought it was another fish and chips place...boy! How wrong was I.
Absolutely amazing fresh fish dishes. We both shared the calamari starter, and trust me it was superb. Not like in most restaurants where it's frozen, this was fresh, tender and tasty. Then my partner had the grilled mackerel and I had the fish of the day, both were delicious.
Tasteful and stylish decor inside and extremely clean.
Really friendly and helpful staff.
I highly recommend you go.
I will most definitely be back.

A great discovery in the busy Borough Market, Fish! a very nice seafood restaurant, with fresh produce and great customer service, probably one of my new favourites restaurants in London. With a menu that includes classic preparations like fish and chips and grilled fish, any seafood lover can find an inspiring combination.

Fish! Is a casual dining place for families and corporate Meetup. The sea food you get here are one of the best in great Britain. Take your family here.

A visit to London without gorging o. the staple fish and chips - more akin to mention of England without the queen! And that’s how I was convinced to visit this place. I was told it has been a winner of a ‘fish and chips contest’ but that notwithstanding, I loved the ambience, and the food! Was alslightly disappointed by the chips as they were a little less done for my liking, but the fish was amazing. Ordered a Halibut and a Lemon Sole. And it was difficult to decide the better of the two!

I have passed Fish in Borough Market on many occasions. As I only seemed to develop a liking for seafood in later years, it moved up towards the top of my list as a place i wished to go. You feel that because it has been there a long time it has to be special to withstand the competition and fleeting tastes of folk. Having finally booked my table, I was a little bit stumped by the service. I sat there like a lemon with no one offering water or a drink. Staff preferred to make their finishing touches to their mis-en-place and chat. I had arrived early for my table 12.37, but I imagine the team should be ready to rock and roll with a busy market nearby and two settled tables inside.<br/><br/>I decided to watch them to make eye contact and I finally got attention. Having ordered a Gavi di Gavi, the glass arrived smudged with elements of the cloth they had used to dry it, great for a £10.50 glass of wine. Having ordered a bottle of water, he proceeded to pour it across my chest from the left to my glass on the right. Doesn't anybody get trained in service etiquette anymore?<br/><br/>I love seafood and the food looked great on their website, so I held on believing that the food would be the saving grace or at least the service would improve. Plus points on both fronts, the food was amazing and a blonde mature waitress who took over looking after out table really picked up the tempo on service. <br/><br/>Let's start with the food. Wow, the food. It was so good, I wish I could go back and start again from when the first dish was placed on our table. My visit was about seafood indulgence, so scrimping on can be ordered, it was full speed ahead. With a refreshing dry Gavi di Gavi to hand, we studied the menu for our order. Slight hiccup with our first order not being available (only after they went away to come back). Would be a good idea to know your 86 items, especially as we were on of the first tables to arrive. It was better service from there. Smiling, warm and sweet service. We finally settled on bruschetta and white bait. The bruschetta was truly something had not seen before. Red tomatoes that looked like they had been photo-shopped to look so vibrant and perfect. As my guest was Italian, she was certainly impressed too. As it was her selection, I could not wait for her to share her thoughts. She was delighted with the taste, mentioning that it actually tasted of ripe tomatoes. Now you would question why a tomato would not taste of tomato, but the thing is, most don't. They taste of nothing in fact. I imagine because of importing from hot countries, it is hard to maintain its originating succulence, and they may well be treated with all sorts of alien sprays to keep it at least fresh. Anyway, that is my inexperienced thoughts on it, but here, today, the tomatoes where lush on this crunchy sour dough bread. My whitebait was lightly floured and delicate. <br/><br/>For main course and with another Gavi di Gavi for me, we went for squid with chorizo and a whole lobster. Yes, I took it to the bridge and went for luxury. I do love lobster, regardless of the messiness with prying the meat out the tail etc. It is totally worth the fishy fingers. For her squid (tender) and chorizo (bursting with flavour), there was also more of our favourite tomato and sour dough bread. No problems with more of the same, as it was just plain lush.<br/><br/>My lobster had the perfect amount of garlic butter to no doubt warrant a mint after. The white meat, oh how I have dreamt of it nights to follow. Gorgeous. <br/><br/>Fish is the Fish place to go. Even with the service hiccups, the kitchen raised the bar and recovered the operational mishaps. Yes, I will go back and yes, I hope the service will be more consistent.

I had battered hake and chips for lunch yesterday. The hake was thick and delicious but the meal overall was a little greasy and left me underwhelmed. They did provide a wedge of lemon but it needed more to cut through the taste of the batter. There are better options at Borough Markets.

Nice restaurant in the market with a wide range of seafood, they also have chicken and beef but I wouldn't recommend it. Friendly staff and good location. Unfortunate that they didn't have sushi but average restaurant with fresh fish

Place with a good atmosphere for a sit-down meal after visiting Borough market. Food was okay, not amazing but wasn't bad either. We had to give the table back in 2 hours but it was fair at lunch time for such a busy area in the middle of London. Relatively fast service too!
Jorge Martinez
Mr Martinez. I went today to have a dinner with some friends, we really like the started, it was squid, also we ordered some salmon sandwich as main coursse. Honestly the food it was okay, but the salmon it was a very tiny porcion, almost as tiny as the bacon was. we did not say nothing at the moment because we realized that the place was full and we were starving, however the place become to be quiet and we decided to comment about our dissapoiment, so we asked one of the waiters to call the manager, we were waitting for more than 15 minutes for her, she come in a very defensive actitud, telling us that we should complaint before to eat, also doubted of us, she said never have such of complain, i saw in her a nasty actitud, she believed we did not want to pay the bill, she was rude and i felt very upset for her actitud, i expected a least the word sorry but i think does not exist in her vocabulary.<br/><br/>Best regards,<br/><br/>Jorge

A good place to be bad. I've walked past Fish! a hundred times whilst visiting a buzzing Borough Market at the weekend and thought to myself, "wow, that place looks great, I should definitely go there sometime" but until tonight I'd never been. Still looked impressive in the evening but the atmosphere was almost non-existent, although it was a freezing Monday evening so to be fair most places were pretty quiet. Unfortunately the service was just as cold. Our waitress only seemed interested in trying to convince us to buy the most expensive food and wine on the menu because, in her words, they were "way way way WAAAY better" and then encourage us to all these extras we didn't want like a pushy salesman trying to hit his sales targets. Obviously I was a right sucker as our simple meal for two came to almost £80. I would normally have been fine with that had our waitress not been that little bit too patronising and ever so slightly patronising. The food was nice though definitely not worth the price tag. The only saving grace for this restaurant was the extremely clean, private toilets hidden away from view near the entrance, where one lucky cubicle made the perfect setting for a not-so-romantic but ever-so-erotic shag. If I were rating the sex I would give top marks, but as this is a restaurant review I should really make my judgement based on the full dining experience.

Ok food, pricy. I had a grilled sea bass with chips and bf for a cod and cips. My fish was tasty we were pretty impressed with the disclaimer at the menu flaming that everything is fresh and obtained from sustainable sources so we were happy. Our portions was big enough but i sensed and odd taste at the chips... other than that the fish was nicely grilled my bf really liked the fish and chips. We had orange juice and sparkling water with the meal and it cost us 49 pounds (gratitude included). But honestly though, you can get the same quality fish at somewhere else in town for less. So i guess we won't be visiting fish! again any time soon.

Nice spot for a fish supper. Nice food, well cooked, but dishes were a tad under seasoned, but apart from that all was good.
Stuart Gray
Pricey but tasty. I'm not in the habit of spending £15.95 plus a discretionary service charge of 12.5% on my lunch, but if I were, I would probably do it again at Fish!. <br/><br/>Cod and chips was sizeable and very well cooked, a crispy batter sealing in a thick tranche of moist fish, accompanied by chunky chips that had the required firm outer and fluffy middle while still tasting of potato. Tartar sauce and mushy peas were good too, although a bit of herb or a higher ratio of gherkins and capers to mayonnaise in the tartar might help convince me that it's made on the premises. <br/><br/>We sat outside so were denied the feeling of being fish in a tank which would inevitably arise from dining in the glass shed which houses the kitchen, but sitting amongst the hubbub of Borough Market on a Friday lunchtime and eating excellent fish and chips was a welcome break from my usual working lunches.

Mmmm .... ok. I have been to Fish! a number of times over the past few years and it's a decent backstop if you are in this area and are in need some impromptu fodder. If you have planned ahead and you want to eat fish at Borough Market I would recommend Wrights Porter and Oyster bar which will give you wonderful food and a great experience at a similar price.<br/><br/>I turned up at Fish! this Saturday with six other chaps who had joined me on the stroll along the river from Richmond to our destination, Borough Market. After a pint at the Rake we felt the need for some fish and chips so, it being a Saturday night, Fish! was our only realistic choice of getting a "walk in" table anywhere near Borough Market unless we fancied a curry. When we arrived the restaurant was almost empty so it was no problem being found a nice table despite being rigged out in our urban walking gear.<br/><br/>Even with its conservatory type feel, the acres of glass and a kitchen fully open to the dining room this in not a restaurant I would call "swanky" or a destination type place. If you are looking for a special occasion venue, or somewhere for a romantic rendezvous, this would not be on any short list of mine. However, it's a pleasant enough space although it has no real soul and is a bit lacking in atmosphere. In the main I would say it is frequented by tourists, out of towners and locals who find themselves in Borough in need of some food to keep them going through the evening.<br/><br/>Having said all that, and dammed with faint praise, it suited us boys well enough after an 18 mile walk. Cod, chips and mushy peas all round was the order of the day once we had managed to catch the eye of our underemployed but still quite charming waitress. After only a short wait, quite a bit of which seemed to be spent on the pass while the waiting staff got themselves together, our fish supper arrived and it was a pretty decent meal. The fish itself was a fresh, chunky fillet enclosed in a tasty batter, which if it had been left in the fryer just a moment longer would have been overdone. The chips only rated an ok, no problems but nothing to write home about and I even left a few. However, the mushy peas were damn fine and drew murmurs of admiration from the two Northern lads who were in our party; trust me I think these boys would know a good mushy pea when they tasted one. At £15.95 for fish and chips this is bordering on the eye watering in terms of price but the quality and the location was good.<br/><br/>We washed this down with a couple of bottles of the house white which was fine but pretty bog standard. The boys grudgingly saying that it was a decent fish supper "and it should be at that price" as we trudged through the Market for a nightcap at the Porter seemed to sum up the experience very well.

On 2nd thoughts. Have accepted peace offering of free bottle of wine. will try on monday and see what happens.<br/>Hence the suspension of vote from "I don't like" to "neutral"<br/><br/><br/>-----23 Sep, 2010-----<br/><br/>J-cloth hell. Here's the letter of complaint and the reply:<br/><br/>My dear Sir,
<br/><br/>'Tis with heavy heart that I take up my laptop to write to you. The very last thing I wanted to do was complain about Fish. I loved it the first time I went, and subsequently had no qualms about recommending it to our informal Gourmet Lunch Club ~ four middle-aged 'lads' with a taste for fine wine, sophisticated eating and good company.
<br/><br/>On the day in question, Monday the 21st of June 2010, we convened at one o'clock for a handsome cocktail at Roast, also in Borough Market, and contrary to the mood of the group, who seemed happy to stay where we were and have the traditional meat dishes, I suggested your restaurant as a suitable venue. This was partially owing to the health of one of our number, who had only recently recovered his fighting form and was on my mind when I suggested the lighter lunch. Okay, it's not a gourmet restaurant, but it's in Borough Market, and a fair few city boys must eat there. The fish soup was superb, the oyster delicious, the sea bream delectable. What can I say? the food was well presented and had excellent flavour. And I think my colleagues agreed. <br/><br/>
However, when it came to the cheese and port we'd ordered, there was a considerable delay in the arrival of the port - a 1998 vintage @ £10 a pop - and so I wandered over to the serving area to discover the waiter pouring the port out of the bottle THROUGH A J-CLOTH. I said immediately that I found it unacceptable. He said - oh, don't worry it's a clean one... In fact I would expect a ten pound glass of port to be poured from the bottle at the table. But to find it being decanted through a disinfectant-impregnated cloth was a shock to say the least. The flustered waiter and waitress and disinterested floor manager then proceeded to offer the drinks to the table and even though my colleagues had by then been informed by me about the situation they were in no mood to send them back, having by then finished the cheese and biscuits.
My friends have experience in the catering business and their spirit of solidarity persuaded me to back down and accept that I was making an unwarranted fuss.
They do not know I'm writing this, and would make hilarious Michael-Winner-type-complaining-noises if they did, but I'll tell you this, the four of us ended up paying £60 each including a large compulsory service charge, and I'm not happy about it.
I have learned a lesson - I will never confuse a fish and chip dinner with fine eating again. I don't think the ten-quid-a-glass port should have been served the way it was. It was embarrassing for me and the group as well. I suggested the venue and I was put in an intolerable position, and my friends were forced to be generous. I really don't think the issue was addressed correctly and although perhaps your manager thinks it was acceptable, I really hope that you don't.
I don't want money. After all, we all drank the port. What else could we do without creating a scene
Nevertheless, I won't be taking them, or anyone else, there again. It's a shame. The lobster I shared there with my girlfriend a few weeks' ago was absolutely superb. And you've got Albariño on the wine list. Great stuff. <br/><br/>
I just want recognition and an apology for the position your staff put me in.

Dear Mr C*****,<br/> <br/>First of all, I apologise for not getting back to you sooner. I have been away, which is why there was a delay in responding.<br/> <br/>I was the manager on duty on the day you and your friends came in. I remember your party well.<br/> <br/>I completely take on board your comments about using a J-cloth to decant the port. The cloth was clean and didn't have any disinfectant in it, however I realise that it doesn't look very professional nor does it look appealing. The reason it was decanted was because part of the cork fell into the bottle. I completely understand your annoyance at the situation and in hindsight I should have stepped in earlier and offered an alternative. We have since purchased some muslin, should that happen again.<br/> <br/>I'm sorry you felt I was disinterested. I was not disinterested, but I take on board that I should have been more involved from the beginning.<br/> <br/>Fish! is not a fine dining restaurant, nor does it claim to be. I'm glad you have enjoyed the food on previous occasions and I think the simplicity of the food is the key to its success. We do not have a sommelier and the wine list is relatively small, but I feel we have an interesting selection of wines that can cater to those looking for something interesting, such as the Albarino (my personal favourite).<br/> <br/>I would really like you to come back and dine with us again and I will happily give you a complimentary bottle of the Albarino as a gesture of goodwill. Please call the restaurant and ask to speak to me if you would like to take me up on this.<br/> <br/>Kind regards,<br/> <br/> <br/>A******* N*****<br/>General Manager

Old fish. It's a shame when a restaurant loses sight of its priorities -- cooking fresh food well and serving it efficiently and politely while it is still good. Fish! charges enough for customers to expect these things, and it looks good from outside, so it is really disappointing to eat there and be let down. It was once a treat to eat out at Fish! in Borough Market, but things have gone downhill, and on my most recent -- and final -- visit the cod and chips I ordered at £15.95 plus 12.5% service charge was old and tired, and the crusty yellowing tartar sauce didn't help. My companion's haddock and chips was just as bad, and we had to ask twice for the wine. When I was finally asked how the food had been, I politely told the waiter it was not very good, and he had no idea how to respond, resorting to a rude dismissal of my comment. <br/><br/>This restaurant needs to get its act together. I don't recommend it at all.

This is a superb restaurant to visit. The menu is very good, clear & concise. In it's make up. The food is super and worth a visit
One Man's Meat...
Not quite the best fish & chips I've had in London - that remains Seafresh in Victoria, but not far off.

Perhaps the most famous British cuisine, the iconic Fish 'n' Chips. This restaurant in Borough market has a take-away (take out) stand from which we ordered from. Unfortunately they were out of Haddock so we tried the cod (£8.95). It was a tad fishy and oily but it was fairly firm and tasted good. My favourite thing about the experience was how malt vinegar was given by default. I loooove malt vinegar with my fries. The fries were thick and otherwise plain, but came out really really hot and fresh perhaps helping them expertly soaked up the vinegar. I thoroughly enjoyed eating this even though Kitty had to add some ketchup to match her tastes. Previous Categories: British, Fish, Fish & Chips, Comments: 0 Comments close Comments No Comments Yet. Twitter Review: Overpriced tourist trap fish restaurant in Borough Market. Full Review: A beautiful sunny day in London and the girlfriend and I decided to go for a walk along the South Bank and up to Borough Market to pick up some treats. After about sev

It's funny how you will cross town , brave weather and take time off work to visit certain restaurants, while others are very much on your beaten track, but somehow you just never get round to visiting them? I suppose it's the same kind of thing as people

Not cheap, but actually very pleasant food. I was not disappointed by my £16 haddock and chips, which is saying something. Fresh, well cooked, with delicious chips and a decent portion. Slightly spartan inside, probably too big for the number of customers they get. I'd go back, when I'm feeling well-off!<br/>

Fresh fish cooked to perfection<br/><br/>I stopped at this nice restaurant because curious. I did not regret it. The food is perfect. The fish is fresh and cooked to perfection. <br/><br/>The tuna burger with chips is light and extremely tasty. They have a wide selection of dishes a specific menu for the take way service. <br/><br/>The service is just right, attentive, warm and welcoming.<br/><br/>I had surely a good meal without breaking my bank. If you are looking for a place where you can have fish and seafood at a fair price I strongly recommend it.

Swanky and clean, Fish! is a nice place in which to eat. The food was above average - I stuck to the good ol' cod and chips with mushy peas, and if I had to be harsh then I would say that the chips were a little overcooked.<br/><br/>Service and atmosphere were all great and my friend and I did walk away feeling happy with the pleasant dinner we had. All this came at a cost though; at £20 quid a head it was very expensive for what it was - enough for me to steer clear of the place in future.

Cozy atmosphere, delicious meals! I strongly suggest Fish! especially if you're new in town.

The Fish is a chain which prides itself on getting the freshest fish for you to savor and enjoy. The innovative bit is ordering your choice of fish and sauce, customize it to your sensibility and enjoy your very own personalized preparation. <br/><br/>The place is always buzzling with activity with boisterous crowds relishing the food completely. From Macarels, Salmon, Squids, Cod, Swordfish to Wild Sea bass all are available to be grilled or steamed. We had ordered the grilled Cod fish with a spicy sauce. I really loved the flavours from the spicy sauce and thoroughly enjoyed the fish. The French fries served were a bit soggy and that was a dampener to the complete experience. <br/> <br/>They do have take away menu which does seem inviting enough but I really doubt if you will enjoy a take away fish item. It makes sense to enjoy it fresh right there. <br/><br/>The place is slightly premium if you begin comparing the prices with other restaurants but for the overall dining experience this place gets my thumbs up.
