I can't think of a better all round pub than the Fetherston Arms. The food is of a very high standard and hits the table piping hot. Not microwave hot, properly cooked through hot. The food is obviously freshly cooked just before delivery to the table, not prepared in advance and kept in a hot plate. The portions are generous without being over facing and the presentation is really good as well . Service from entering the pub, throughout the whole dining experience is great without being intrusive, and did not feel like a bored, routine approach. The pies are the star for me, but there are many excellent dishes across the menu. The only challenge in Kirk Oswald is parking, but do not let that put you off. Make the effort to visit, you won't regret it.

We had dinner on "pie night". Good variety and all taste great. Good helpings too. I was too full for desert but my family's desserts looked lovely also. Very reasonably priced. Staff very helpful and friendly.

5 weeks on the road in the motorhome and I didn’t fancy cooking my evening meal. Found myself not far from Kirkoswald, a quick Google and the Fetherston Arms sounded good for a visit and food. I received a lovely warm welcome and despite the tables being fully booked the landlady very kindly found me and my dog a table. The locals were also very friendly and they all recommended the food as being excellent. I ordered the Black pudding and Haggis tower for starters and the trio of sausages with mustard mash for main course. The starter was delicious and quite a large portion, great value for money. The main was also extremely tasty, I’d have preferred a bit more mustard in the mash, but I’m being picky, the meal was excellent. A lovely atmosphere in the pub, and I could have happily stayed all evening drinking and chatting more with the locals, but I needed to find somewhere to park up in the motorhome for the night, parking in the village is a bit of a nightmare. I highly recommend The Fetherston Arms Hotel and would gladly visit again.

we came here for a sunday pub lunch (we didn't stay in the hotel) and were really impressed with both the food and the service. there were two vegetarians and one vegan with us (and one meat eater) and all of us loved our food. we had the roast, vegan pie, and macaroni cheese. all of the servers were so lovely and friendly and the good was great too. huge portions. i would recommend booking in advance if you want to sit in the beer garden or inside - we turned up unannounced and sat outside in the front, which was still lovely. dog friendly.

We turned up on the off-chance, and we really should have booked. They were fully booked but we sat outside and they took care of us. We were only hoping to get our daughter a meal but they ensured we all had a meal. The food was great, the service excellent. We will book next time!

We had Sunday lunch here and it was fantastic!! Great portion sizes and very tasty. They also had a great selection of wine too and the guy behind the bar ( possibly the landlord?) was very welcoming.
