Stopped in here after a very long days hiking. Fantastic food and wonderful staff. Very cosy atmosphere with a couple of friendly dogs too. Couldn’t have been more grateful to find this gem after the full day of hiking. The wonderful lady who hosted asked us where we were staying and immediately offered to arrange us a lift up the road with the the chef! Hopefully will get the opportunity to come again. Thank you!
Lovely meal after long day hiking. Fun interior and outside seating along canal. Excellent service and well done food. Impressive what they can make on the boat. The rescue dogs that welcomed us were super friendly and a highlight of the meal.
Stopped in for a pint before dinner on our canal trip. Cozy spot and food looked great with gigantic portions. Lots of stuff to look at but mostly fun to talk to other travelers. They sell gift certificates too for your mates.
Stopped by for hot drinks after 2 days of hiking along the Great Glen Way with very few facilities. Lovely place with collection of swords and foreign banknotes (we added a Brazilian note!). The friendly and welcoming bar lady gave us a much needed coffee boost (and tea with milk ;) ) to fire us on our way to Fort Augustus. Thanks!
Unusual bar/restaurant. Cracking atmosphere, didn't eat but food all looked super, smelled good too. Few floaters in cask ale but..........
Had a great bar meal here on the deck of the barge. Food was quick and good, service great. The atmosphere inside is very warm and cozy and great chat with lots of different people from different places who are traveling on the canal.
Kind personnel, good food. Chilli is definitely hot, but good taste and value.
We stumbled across this amazing wee gem on route to Skye! It just so happened to be their end of season party and it was an amazing night. Warm welcome from everyone and the dogs loved it! Will be back next season. Thank you so much!
Had researched this on the internet and arrived at 14:30 hoping to book a table for that evening , knowing orders had to be placed before 15:00. Unfortunately they were fully booked and we were advised that bar meals were available from 17:30 on a First come, first served basis. We went back at 17:00 and managed to get four bar stools. Enjoyed the local beers. At 17:30 ordered four chilli con carne with rice and bread. Two of us had it medium which is the standard strength here, however they also do hotter and you can have it as hot as you like. Two of us asked for the next strength up. It left our mouths tingling and we both agreed we wouldn’t have wanted it hotter. Still, we enjoyed it and have booked a table for dinner when we return. The lady behind the bar was polite and chatty despite being busy. There were lots of boaters and hikers passing through. Local resident dog comes around although is timid. Customers dogs were welcome too. I’ve never been in a barge before so was a unique experience and very homely with a fire going and lots of artefacts around the place.
We returned to Eagle Barge again last night and were served by Michael who was very pleasant. Three of us choose the Peat Smoked Salmon from Mallaig and one Honey Glazed Salmon Steak. The Salmon was delicious and we only wished there had been more of the Pete Smoked Salmon. The fish was served with a side salad and boiled potatoes, peas, carrots and green beans which were well cooked (not overdone). We all found room for dessert which is homemade and available with cream, ice cream or custard. I choose chocolate fudge cake, two had syrup sponge pudding and another the cheesecake. The syrup sponge pudding is recommended. We had reserved a table for 19:00 but having arrived early we we asked if we wished to be served early, which we did. Well worth the second visit for the evening meal.
Lovely find on a bike trip ,very nice soup , staff lovely ,real lovely atmosphere on board a great experience ,inside and outside seating .all food looked and tasted good
Very unique experience. Cozy, nice food and good bear. You shouldn’t miss this place in your walk.
Great little gem. Food was fantastic, well priced and plentiful portions. Has a really good vibe and quirky feel. Definitely visit if you are in the area.
Great place to stop whether you're sailing by or on the A82. Quirky and quaint and extremely cosy. Great food, quick service and lovely owners. It's dog friendly too.
We had a couple of pints here after a long day on the water, great atmosphere although quite quiet. Lovely place to relax 👍
Having walked 23 miles that day, the Eagle Barge Inn was a welcome sight! The food was fantastic (lamb shank 👌) and the owners were really nice, even giving us a lift up to our hostel once we finished. Highly recommend.
Nice barge and areas for customers great views.
Food a little dear for portion and quality
With little between Banavie and Laggan to do for entertainment, food or drinks, the Eagle Barge was a welcome sight for all weary travellers.
We spent the night eating and drinking with locals and foreigners sharing stories and jokes.
However if you want to know the real secret to a good time at the Barge, there's a nice young lady tending the bar, ask her kindly for the "Sausage Bonanza" and you'll be in for a night you won't soon forget!
The best bar of all time, no contest. Also, the food is so tasty. I cannot wait to go here again! Two adorable dogs may also greet you here.
