Hickety Pickety

First time to this small cafe but it will not be the last. Good freshly prepared food. Selection of salads, sandwiches and light lunch- just missed the breakfast menu but it sounded interesting. Fresh smoothies with bags of flavour, scones that had flavour and texture and a nice cup of coffee. Toilets immaculate. Good parking. What more do you need.

We initially went to the Cafe and were turned away as we did not have a reservation and we had a large group, so this was understandable. We were able to book tables for the next day and we enjoyed our meals. We tried to book again for the following week by sending a message on the facebook page but didn't receive a reply, so this is my only complaint. Lovely atmosphere and the staff were very friendly.

We were here last weekend and the food was exquisite and the home made pesto so vibrant and flavourfull. Nachos tasty and so fresh. Of course I must add the cake...walnut and Carrot...we shared a slice between us....but should have had one each...it was moist, tasty, sweet but not too sweet, just amazing. The staff were so obliging and clearly work well together. Fabulous setting and tea room decor is so perfect. Loved the recycling and re-loving sentiment in the entrance hall encouraging exchange of books. If I could give this more than 5 star I wouldn't hesitate. It will be our detour home to Edinburgh from Dumfries from now on.... Thanks to all.

Cannot belive I live so close and have taken so long to visit. The tea room is welcoming and cosy.... despite the cavernous ceiling! The staff are friendly and attentive. Menu is not vast and that is a good thing. Specials on the board with a choice of soup. Soup servings were plentiful with big bits of bread! We both chose the special and can I just say the prawn cocktail was tasty and never ending. Had to help finish ! The ciabatta with pastrami, gherkins and Jack cheese was really tasty. Served with just enough salad and crips, and just the right amount of coleslaw. Yummy. I would say it was good value, sure don't think I need any dinner now.... my 1st visit won't be my last and noticed a few Happy Alice wax melts available to purchase too - fun!
