La Costena Restaurant

Really impressed with the food. My wife and I were on a weekend getaway to Lancaster and found this place online. We live closer to NYC so we always go to Passaic/Paterson for the best Peruvian cuisine. Whenever we travel to other states, we don’t expect to get the best authentic flavors, but La Costena really impressed me. I actually thought that their pollo saltado a la probre was the best I’ve had. I love the fact that they included the fried plaintains and fried egg with my dish as it’s a combination I’ve not encountered at any Peruvian restaurant before. And they marinate the chicken separately with ginger and garlic as those are some of my favorite ingredients. The chicken came out so tender and flavorful. My wife loved her seafood and rice dish and the ceviche picante which used Swai fish, the same that I use when I make ceviche at home. To top it off the restaurant is BYOB, and the music they were playing was awesome, a combination of 80’s and Latin music. I swear, they stole my personal playlist. Definitely give this place a try when you’re in the Lancaster area.

Came back to have Peruvian food after a couple years. The food was ok, the lombo saltado meat was a bit dry and anticucho could have a bit more cummin. My husband is Peruvian and i have eaten Peruvian food in many places . This place is decent food but It can b a bit pricey depending what u order. I don't eat tomato's at all and the only dish i will eat tomatos is lombo saltado.
