Wow this place is amazing. We stayed here last weekend for my father in laws retirement and had a fantastic experience, from the beautiful 6 dish taster menu (every single dish we all loved) to the beautiful hotel room. All the little personal touches made this place stand out from other hotels. Everything was perfect including the lovely, attentive staff. Thankyou for our stay, we will be returning!
We returned to Northcote after many years to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we were initially taken aback by how much it had grown in size. Had it lost its distinct character?
Not a bit of it! The staff were friendly but professional and very knowledgeable. The room was immaculate and very well appointed.
We chose the gourmet tasting menu which was excellent without being too fussy and the flight of wines was exceptional & complimented the food perfectly as, of course, it should. Again, the waiters and sommelier were right up to the mark. We have come away with a different opinion on Rose & Austrian wines. We always like to learn something.
The breakfast was lovely and the atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed and congenial. We will definitely return sooner than our last visit! BTW this photo isn’t us...

Wonderfully attentive staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. The setting was just beautiful with the most amazing food presented in a stunning way. I can not recommend it highly enough for any occasion. It is a real gem set in the beautiful hills of Lancashire.

Really enjoyed our stay and the indulgence of “Obsession”.Service and interaction with staff excellent. Our room very comfortable and enabled a relaxing end to the evening. Food, on this occasion prepared and created by George Blogg, was again excellent,varied and provided a wonderful blend of tastes and textures that envigorated the palate and paired accompanying wines were well matched. Have stayed several times now and it just gets better and better, superb service from a very happy band of staff and food which is outstanding in content and taste! Well worth the experience!
Exceptional and personal service you don't get in Australia. We went as a group of six and we all really enjoyed our time there. The food is what you would expect from a michelan star restaurant, great flavours, presentation but also inovative.
The host reminds me of Mr Carson from Downton Abby 😛

We had a great time at Northcote. The service was a little slow at times, but it looks like there are slightly more covers than the last time we went. However, all this can be forgiven when reminiscing over the photos of that amazing roast dinner.
After serving my new friends I finally got to taste the dish, and wow, it had been worth the wait. I’m a huge fan of crispy duck and pancakes but this was so much better. It worked perfectly, the suckling pig itself was stunning, cooked to perfection and literally fell off the bone (‘carving’ was as simple as pulling apart with 2 forks). It was served with juliennes of apple and onion which complimented the meat perfectly and a sauce of roasting juices and lemon juice. The flavour combination was absolutely fantastic. My only complaint was that the pancakes were rather small but it’s only a minor point as there were plenty of them so making multiple was not a problem. In fact the portions were incredibly generous and we probably could have managed with 2 or 3 less pigs at the table.
Set in the picturesque Lancashire countryside, we arrived at this big old house. Not only is it a restaurant but it also has luxury rooms, perfect for a romantic getaway. This is going to sound a little bit snobbish (I am British don’t forget) but what I like about a Michelin star restaurant compared to others is the level of service and attention to detail. On arrival our coats were taken and we were shown to the drawing room, where we perused the menu with a drink and our amuse bouche. Today’s offering was pea mousse with homemade crisp breads.

It’s a helluva way to get you in the mood for a great evening of food.
Three Beets: Yellow, Red & Candy, Pickled Shallot Hearts, Horseradish, Herbs & Flowers – making good use of the finest produce from the gardens, this was a delightful dish. The pickled shallots hearts added a sharp hit of acidity to the dish and the horseradish jelly was suitably subtle.
I think they're doing a brilliant job. Not a single dish was overpowering in any way. The main ingredient is always the star of the show.
What can I say… Northcote just keeps on delivering! Incredible quality food, fantastic service and lovely atmosphere.
This time we tried the Sunday lunch and it was great. The lamb was a seasonal special which a friend had recommended so I gave it a try. There’s still some improvements to the vegetarian options offered though, the quality is always stellar, but the portion sizes and value pales in comparison to the meat/fish/poultry options.
Looking forward to returning and trying the classic beef roast next time!
Stunning truly stunning yes it’s a bit pricey but worth each and every penny.
