Wonderful food and great service at a very reasonable price. This is superb fare that is very different from run-of-the-mill Indian restaurants. I thoroughly recommend it

Food is exceptional and homemade. Credit must be given to the chefs.

Went for lunch and opted for their business lunch. Chicken was tasty. Delicious fish curry. Dal was very bad in taste.

This was first visit to restauafrant @ Kayal

Ask for Extra “ Sambahr” and Enjoy !!

The mixed seafood curry is fantastic. The other dishes I've tried aren't quite as good, but that dish is worth the trip.
Ambience is fine and service is good. Reservations are usually necessary.

Quite a decent restaurant. Once we walked in, we were seated immediately since we had a reservation. These guys do get full quite quick so make sure you have a booking. We ordered quite a bit. We ordered 2 plates of vada' which were great to share amongst the 4 of us. Then followed the mains which involved crab curry with paratha, masala dosa and chicken biryani. The masala dosa was big in size but was quite buttery/oily so it made me feel a bit sick by the end of the meal. Biryani was good and the crab curry was enjoyed thoroughly by my friend even though I'm not a fan as such. We ordered some drinks including Lime juice, mango juice and mango lassi which were all splendid.
Had some kulfi, coffee at the end.
Paid about £80 for the meal.

Its been 10 months since I could barely log into Zomato to continue my food journey on the net though I have explored some great places in the UK till now.
I have been to Kayal twice. One was for a farewell get together and another for team party. A typical malayali haven was the message it projected when I searched on line. The Menu provided some great nostalgic moments of my trip to kerala during college. The first time I had some really good food comprising of Dosas, Uthappams, Chapathis and a duck roast curry. And a drink to go along with it. The dosa was nothing special and was not worth the price as such. The uthappam was really good with a proper roasted onion along with corriander leaves and grated carrot. The duck roast was quite exotic provided the fact that I was having it for the first time and I liked it. But the quantity in all the dishes was disappointing and not so surprising because many restaurants do that often.
The second time was with the team after 5 months and people went for briyanis, appams and dosas. Was average and not that impressive. Briyani can be highlighted as okay. Overall the quality of the restaurant came down a bit. A negative I would like call out is the time taken for service.

Great atmosphere! Some very traditional Keralite food from different corners of the state. Prices are on the high side. Service is excellent.

An authentic restaurant in Leamington!. I've been coming to Kayal for years. Unlike other restaurants I feel Kayal treats their customers with excellent service and I feel so welcomed everytime. The authentic south Indian food is beyond delicious and the atmosphere is warm and comforting, with great service. Kayal special Thali was very different compared to regular Thali meals in many other restaurants. I am sure that you will definitely revisit it if tried once.

Incredible - Forget standard balti houses and give it a go!. Visited Kayal last Friday night and it's a fantastic addition to the food scene in Leamington.
Kerala cuisine was new to me before the Leamington Food Festival and as Kayal, the newest restaurant to open it's doors in the town was exhibiting there I thought I'd give their mixed platter a go... it was AWESOME.
Kerala is a state in the south west of India and the coastal landscape is littered with canals and estuaries and in this "backwater" is where an abundance of coconuts grow, hence the milk is a major component of the dishes on offer.
Forget homogenous balti houses and the million-and-one "contemporary asian/indian cusine" places out there and try it. The inside is intimate, not small and some tables seemingly have a particular space rather than a tight (maximise the covers) grid system typically favoured. It has a very distinct look. Its quite nautical with wooden panels and rope fixings (sounds crap I know, its not and you can tell I'm not an interior designer) and a nice low level of light throughout.
Imagine finely spiced, delicate Indian food but with the creamy coconut lightness of Thai. No acidity, no grease, no gaviscon on hand and no 100ft diameter Naan bread. The closest I've had to this type of food this is in the Maldives.
I went for the non-traditional Kerala dish on the menu, and my wife for the seafood curry. Both were absolutely amazing in depth, seasoning, texture and ingredients. Calamari starter was tasty and fresh too.
Well recommended and a great change to your average indian meal, or at least the UK diner's impression of what this constitutes.

This restaurant was an Indian one with a difference. Cuisine from Kerala (S India) which certainly extremely tasty. Spices with a great dinner gave us a chance to have a great dinner. Too many options to mentions, dishes that differed from your normal run-of-the-mill Indian type food. The restaurant is in a street packed with every type of food eatery you could think of. The inside, seating area was quite crowded for mid week so that speaks for itself. The decor was tastefully done, the young lady serving us was ace. Also has a 1965 BSA motorbike on display, see my pic.
10/10 for our first visit to Leamington for many years 👏👏👏

I recently dined at Kayal, a South Indian cuisine restaurant. The food was undeniably delicious, though it did lack the authentic spiciness that is often associated with South Indian dishes. The restaurant's ambiance is truly remarkable, featuring opulent interiors, which contribute to an overall upscale experience. The staff's warm welcome and the impeccable cleanliness of the washroom were notable.
Additionally, Kayal offers an upstairs dining area for those seeking a different atmosphere. However, as a South Indian myself, I couldn't help but notice that the prices were exceptionally high, even for basic tea snacks. It left me with the impression that the pricing might be tailored more towards the local residents in the area. The milder spice level in the dishes also appeared to cater to a broader, potentially non-Indian, audience.

Amazing atmosphere & great food, service is really friendly too but rated them bit less as I asked for water many times & they kept forgetting & I decided to stop reminding them

An overall 4 because whoever is at the bar needs some classes in cocktail making. Served in a martini glass, my drink came with a straw and ice??!! Clearly made by someone who has no idea about drink making. Food is really good, full of flavour and portions huge (for me!) Friendly staff help you with selections too.

Went here for a meal with my daughter and her girlfriend. This place was recommended to us by them. The place has a very different feel than your normal indian restaurant. Very different. The place has a warm atmosphere and the staff really can't do enough for you. We ordered drinks and starters. It took about 15 mins to arrive. Very nice indeed. The main course followed shortly after and again very very nice. This is not your typical Indian restaurant. This place serves proper Indian food that Indian people eat. Not the westernized rubbish you get in most places. Don't come here is what I'm saying if you want a balti or chicken Tikka masala.. It's not on the menu. The food I will say is out of this world.. Really. Take it from me. I was born and raised in Birmingham.. You will not be disappointed. Most of the food is from an area of Indian called Kerala. Real authentic dishes. Will definitely be going again and would definitely recommend..

My day was made wonderful by the eatery Kayal. Their kallappam, biriyani, paratha, and mixed seafood curry are on my order. My favourite of the breads was the kallappam, and it went well with the creamy curry. The side gravy took the thalassery biriyani from good to a higher level.Additionally, I should remark how amazing their packaging was. I am thankful to the Kayal team and excited to try more in the future.

Took my parents to Kayal's having been introduced to Herb in Leicester and was not disappointed. The thali is a great option as it has a spread of wonderful dishes. It far supercedes any other Indian restaurant I've come across. The starter shrimp soup was hot yet tasty and the milk dessert was really good. Would definitely recommend this place for a great home style south Indian experience

Really amazing and delicious food! Absolutely loved the cardamom cocktail. We had a close up magician come visit us at the table with some fun tricks. The waiter gave us helpful suggestions and we loved them! Couldnt rate this highly enough

Traditional Kerala dishes brought with a British twist, which can equally satisfy an Indian and British palate, is the speciality of Kayal's dishes. We have been here many times before and had tried several dishes. Our favourites include seafood dishes - seafood platter for starters, tilapia pollichathu (wrapped in banana leaves), and alapuzha konju masala with Kerala Parotta or coconut rice.
Although it's a bit on the expensive side, it can be reserved for special occasions- worth for ambience and food.

The food here is incredible, and Kayal is definitely one of the best Indians I’ve ever had. We had the Muringakah soup and the chicken Biryani - both were so full of flavour and spice, and filling. The waiters are extremely kind and made sure everything was good. Very good!!

											Had thali at Kayal.
Could have ordered Dosa and other individual dishes than thali. Thali menu was ok. Nothing great. Overall experience was good in terms of staff and ambiance.

One thousand flavors in one place.
What a wonderful Southern Indian restaurant!!!!!! A simple yet extremely comprehensive menu, just a great choice - not 40or 50 choices as is the wont of some "Indian" Restaurants which is usually baffling - all dishes are clearly described and the taste actually matches the description

The spice taste was extremely good and it's made ourselves felling like we are in our country .
The taste was extremely yummy and good too.
They also treated us in a very good way......

Divine authentic southern Indian food served by exceptionally attentive and courteous staff. I've been lucky enough to have had the pleasure of visiting India on many occasions and can attest to Kayal rivalling some of the best restaurants I dined at in India. Well done to the chefs and front of house.

As usual, Kayal is a fantastic restaurant. Interior is really beautiful. Staffs are nice. Food is great. Tried Saturday special food which is Lamb pepper fry and it was tasty. One of the best restaurants in Leamington spa.

I like Indian food and consider a dinner here a refreshing experience. This restaurant is so different from others. An Indian restaurant featuring seafood is rare. This one does it right. The Kayal Fish Curry was very satisfying. I am grateful for the waitress who is passionately proud of the cuisine from her home place. Her recommendations were spot on.

Nice Indian restaurant. Had a lunch there and very good price from the lunch menu. The curry was cooked just right, not too spicy, the portions size is small but OK for me. The staff are friendly and helpful. No need to book table they have loads of seats.

We ordered Muringakah soup and Uzhunnu vada for the starters. The soup was very unique and ultimate delicious, something we didn’t taste before but glad we ordered. Vada was crisp outside and soft inside. Chilly panner was up to the mark. My friends ordered Tilapia pollichathu and were crazy for this dish. They really loved it and would certainly recommend it. Thakkali choru was so flavourful, with a tangy taste of tomatoes and less spicy. We had appams, parathas, pooris and kallappam in breads and couldn’t complain about any. Pooris were fluffy and made out of whole wheat, Appams were soft and had the authentic taste. I must say the food and the service of this restaurant made our Friday night right. To end it all on a sweet note, we ordered pineapple kesari and unnakkai, both had the authentic taste and shared the desserts amongst us. The service was excellent and we enjoyed our dinner at the restaurant. Would definitely recommend to someone looking for Kerela cuisine.
