I love this place. ❤ When i finished the barista school, i decided i'll taste some flat white in Leeds. I was so curious... This is the 1st place where I got real flat white. Without sugar is the best. Honestly my favourite is espresso, so next time I drink only espresso in my place.
It takes a lot of things to make a fantastic coffee shop. Laynes has tied up all of them in a tasteful, boutique hideaway with not only exquisite coffee, but excellent service, a great soundtrack and masterful Baristas. Truly the finest coffee shop I've been to in a long time, and more than worth a visit if you care about good coffee.
Without a doubt the best place to get coffee in Leeds city centre. Coffee is not a necessity to them it's an art, an art that is perfected and delivered with care and incredible attention to detail. They also offer barista training and latte art classes... As well as cake and lunch from local suppliers of course.

Being in serious need of a good coffee and breakfast this morning I decided to visit Laynes, as I had already read great things about it.
I had a latte, which tasted great and the avocado on sourdough which was amazing! The chilli and lemon seasoning on the avocado gave off great flavour and the perfect level of spicy while the toasted bread complimented the soft avocado brilliantly.
On top of that, the atmosphere of the coffee house was great, the staff were friendly and helpful and had smiles on their faces which is always great to start your day with.
Overall great place to go and definitely one of those places where you can take a good book or notebook and relax for a few hours.
Being a tourist from Aus I was looking for a decent coffee and something a bit lighter than the traditional English breakfast fare that most cafes do. This was a much better option, great coffee and had the avocado on toast which was excellent.
What a place. I ended up in Leeds twice last week and visited here both times; I was led here originally by the good reviews!
The food is amazing and well priced. The staff are lovely and accommodating. The coffee is delicious, there is loads of seating and there were lots of people eating alone which lets me know the atmosphere is comforting! Highly recommend!
I really recommend this place if your visiting Leeds. Make sure you book a table upstairs before you go as it does get busy.
I was seated downstairs in the basement which didn’t have any natural light and it did get a bit hot but nothing uncomfortable.
Their menu was really well thought out and I was surprised to see gluten free options. Please see my menu pics.
I ordered the Turkish eggs, it did take longer then expected but it was an absolute delight the eggs were cooked perfectly and the portioning was spot on. The coffee was really nice. The baristas latte art was next to nothing great attention to detail.
I would 100% go again and I would definitely try the gluten free pancakes.
Breakfast enthusiasts, rejoice! Laynes, conveniently perched across the street from Leeds station (LDS), offers an all-day breakfast menu that’s a feast for both the early bird and the late riser.
Open until 3 pm, Laynes ensures that breakfast isn't just for the early hours. Whether you crave pancakes at dawn or sweetcorn fritters at noon, they've got you covered. And with vegetarian and vegan options aplenty, this is a spot where everyone can find their favorite morning delight.
A sit-down meal lets you bask in the flavors of freshly prepared eggs, hot dishes, and aromatic coffee. With 45 minutes, you can indulge in a leisurely breakfast that might just turn into an early lunch!
On the go? Laynes serves up takeaway bakery items in a flash. A croissant and a coffee can be yours in just minutes, perfect for those rushing to catch a train.
The food is superb, and the service is equally impressive. Laynes has mastered the art of making every diner feel special.
So, next time you're near Leeds station, don't just pass by Laynes. Step inside and discover a breakfast haven where time stands still, taste buds dance, and everyone finds their plate of happiness.
Very accommodating, especially as we had a dog with us. The coffee was decent, and the food great too. Can only give four stars as a side of 2 scrambled was £5!
The server that took our names and was organising at the front desk, presumably form central europe was fantastic, very friendly, had a smile the whole time we were there and appeared to be handling a very busy period with ease. She's a credit to the business. In times like these it's people like this that keep businesses going and people happy.
If you're in Leeds and looking for a cozy cafe for breakfast and coffee, you can't go wrong with Laynes Espresso. Their coffee is excellent, and the baristas really know their stuff. Their breakfast menu has options for everyone, including vegetarians and vegans. I had the avocado toast, and it was delicious. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff are friendly. Overall, Laynes Espresso is definitely worth a visit if you want good breakfast and coffee in Leeds
Both the coffee and food here are incredibly good. I had more than a cup of coffee and tried the apple crumble danish with custard & the baked ham and hash. Both were so delicious that I just sat there feeling incredibly happy. The staff were really professional and friendly too.
Your decaff is INSANELY good. Breakfast was super tasty and your staff is so attentive and polite. We loved it, will be back and will bring our family as well.
Excellent coffee. Busy for just after 8am but seated and served straight away, quick to make the coffee, and the flat white was excellent. Perfect for a good coffee before the train!
Really great cafe near Leeds train station. Perfect for when you're early for your train and need some delicious food. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. Highly recommended!
Coffee and food is lovely.
Sadly we waited about 30 minutes for the food.
Also the annoying "service charge" added without asking for it.
Expensive for what it is.
