This modern South Indian restaurant was a fabulous experience and one that we have visited again since the first time. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.
For starters we shared the popadoms, chicken wings and onion bhaji.
We had the beautiful Karahi King Prawn Tikka, Lamb Rogan Josh, Chicken Madras and Liver Tikka for mains.
A complete show stopper was the family size nan and an absolute must with this delicious meal.

If i could give 6 stars I would. Service here is beyong amazing, you really are looked after, staff are excellent.
Food is just as good, prices have gone up as they have everywhere, but portions are generous. Tasty quality food. With starters, drinks, mains and sides, your bill will be approximately 50 to 60 pounds for two. Paid parking available close by.

Classic Akbar’s, mega spicy but just the way I like it. Service very quick, reasonable prices and delicious food. The new waiter spilled drinks on our table but they were really nice about it and it didn’t spoil the occasion. Go here if you like your food HOT!

Really enjoyed our latest visit yesterday evening. I think this is our favourite Indian restaurant in central Leeds. Our waiter Shoaib was really friendly, helped us with the menu and made sure our dishes were delivered quickly even though the restaurant was busy (as usual). I particularly enjoyed my starter of Marsala Fish. The wine selection is good too.

Food is delicious at Akbar's, with the Chicken & Prawn Special Balti being one of favourites. The Family Naan is also a must have. Service is friendly and usually quick, even though the restaurant is busy most of the times. Fair prices for great food. Will certainly return the next time I'm in Leeds and craving for a curry.

Despite my fondness for the delectable cuisine, I must acknowledge that the services at this establishment often suffer from a noticeable sluggishness. The main culprit behind this delay seems to be the consistently large crowd. While I genuinely love the food, the leisurely pace of service has become a discernible aspect of the overall dining experience.
The restaurant's allure lies not only in its delightful ambiance and culinary offerings but also in its ability to attract a substantial number of patrons, both locals and visitors alike. This popularity, while a testament to the restaurant's appeal, unfortunately contributes to longer wait times and slower service.
The kitchen, potentially overwhelmed by the sheer volume of orders, appears to struggle with maintaining an optimal speed of service. Despite the staff's best efforts, keeping up with the demand during peak hours proves to be a challenging task. Consequently, this has led to a noticeable delay in the delivery of orders and an overall decline in service efficiency.
Despite these setbacks, my culinary experiences at this venue have consistently been delightful. The menu offers a diverse range of delectable dishes that never fail to satisfy my palate. The flavors are rich, and the presentation is commendable, indicating a strong commitment to culinary excellence.
While the service delays can be frustrating, the undeniable quality of the food keeps me returning. It speaks volumes about the establishment's dedication to culinary craftsmanship that patrons are willing to endure extended wait times. Nonetheless, addressing service efficiency could significantly enhance the overall dining experience and further elevate the restaurant's standing in the eyes of its discerning clientele.

Came to meet friends in Leeds
Akbars is very busy with lots of diners
Greeted and shown to table.. The servers are upbeat and friendly
We were served out drinks and poppadoms
Mains we are chose a different curry and naan breads
We served our food after a short time
Only one of the curry's was cold this was reheated in a short time
We enjoyed the food. Naans are huge even the regular size
All in all a good experience. Lots of steps inside the palcr.. On entry and into the dining areas and up to the toilets
The place could really do with a refurbish and clean as they are so busy it's worn and tired.. This does not detract from the excellent service and food
We enjoyed
Thanks

I had a lovely meal with my husband. We both really enjoyed the great food. We had lots to eat and were very full afterwards. The portion size is very generous.
