I was lucky enough to be invited for a sneak preview a couple of days before they opened.... Our hosts for the night were very welcoming and advised us that there were staff walking around with sushi and if we wanted anything hot just to nip up to the counter and ask. I headed straight for the counter when I came upon their crisps - wasabi and seaweed flavour crisps... Intriguing. I decided to go with a hot breaded prawn for my first taster which was handed to me in a cup with a little bit of sauce at the bottom. Usually £1 each this was a great little thing... I may find it difficult to walk past without buying a couple in the future just for a snack.
absolutely incredible, as a vegetarian they had many choices for me, and i just keep having to come back. the only problem is that it isn’t right outside my door
Very good tasty sushi and other hot foods. Their sushi is really authentic! The restaurant is located in city centre, very easy to find it. They also have takeout or delivery. The Japanese curry is very delicious. There are some Japanese snacks and desserts in the shop and they definitely worth trying!
Service is fast and staff are always pleasant. Plenty of seating inside but it does get really busy in the lunch hour when I normally eat here.
The choice is great and better price points then some competitors nearby. The quality of the sushi isn’t the best but well worth the price.
We (3 of us) went to it at around 7:30 and we ordered 2 boxes of sushi with a bowl of fried noodles. Very reasonable price for such a quality Japanese food. Just cost roughly 20 pounds. Definitely enjoyed our meal and we are pretty full. Didn’t expect a Japanese restaurant with a fast food outlook can offer such delicious while price friendly salmon sushi.
Review: Wasabi Sushi & Bento, Leeds
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Wasabi Sushi & Bento in Leeds provides an enjoyable dining experience, where the enticing quality of food mostly overshadows the less-than-ideal seating situation.
The menu offers a delightful variety of sushi and bento options, each more delectable than the last. The freshness of the ingredients is notable, enhancing the flavors and ensuring a satisfying meal every time. The dishes strike a pleasing balance between authentic Japanese flavors and the expectations of the local palate, making it a great place to enjoy Japanese cuisine in the heart of Leeds.
However, the restaurant could benefit from some attention to its seating arrangement. The broken chairs and lack of available seating were a bit of a letdown, affecting the overall dining experience and comfort. This is particularly notable during peak hours, when finding a place to enjoy your meal can prove challenging.
Despite these issues, the quality of the food served at Wasabi Sushi & Bento makes up for the shortcomings. It's clear that the focus here is on delivering great food, and in that aspect, they certainly excel.
In conclusion, while Wasabi Sushi & Bento in Leeds may not provide the most comfortable seating arrangement, it offers good value for money with its tasty and fresh food. A solid four-star rating seems fitting, with an upgrade likely if improvements are made to the seating situation.
I have enjoyed My meal. Vegetarian Noodles meal loved it♥️ Extra ⭐️
Reasonable price
Excllent food
Friendly staff 👍🏻
I like to nip in here for a quick bite to eat when i don't have time to dine in a restaurant. Staff are always pleasant and I appreciate that the place doesn't feel the need to play really loud music. Very chill environment.
Always a good choice for a quick hot lunch. This place has a high footfall so you know nothing has been sat around long. Katsu chicken is a safe bet, chicken crispy, sauce tasty and rice nicely cooked. You can sit by the window and watch the world go by.
Really delicious noodle soup indeed! I am a Hong Konger (from Asia). I found their noodle soup really tasty! The Tom Yum soup was rich and full of seafood flavour, which was really quite close to what I had in Thailand, just less salty and chilly, which I personally preferred. Remember you will need to wait a minute for the rice noodle to absorb the soup and become soft before you eat it. So I ate a salmon seaweed salad pot first which was also very fresh and yummy!
I was staying in Leeds for a few days and sometimes went back to have lunch and ate sushi, which was not bad too, with a miso soup to keep me warm. The miso soup was pretty good and the sushi was something close to what I can get in Hong Kong supermarket but no where near to what I ate in Japan. Frankly speaking Japanese sushi was really difficult to copy which you were eating those fresh fish just next to the ocean and the skilful Japanese chief. So at the price point I think wasabi had already done a great job! I came back every time I visited Leeds!
