Just this afternoon I treated my friend to the Gin & tonic afternoon tea. Oh my goodness, it was absolutely divine! The table was set out lovely and the attention to detail was outstanding! From the table cloth, napkins, cup and saucer filled with ice and lemon for the Gin, to the afternoon tea stand which was filled with the most delicious treats which included a little cup each filled with crisps. My favourite was the swiss roll which was so light and not over filled with cream and had raspberries in.
I anticipated bringing something home as there was so much but we couldn't stop eating :)
Just perfect summer treat and great price! Thank you xx
Always visit Langlands in Shiptonthorpe when in the area & especially on our way to & from the coast. Often meet up with friends in the cafe for a meal or equally good is the coffee shop for lighter snacks. Also a great selection of food in the farm shop - we usually go away laden with goodies. Good clean toilets - always a bonus when travelling. Great things on offer both in the garden centre & the shop areas & come Christmas time the displays are amazing. Top notch.
Also visit the Leeds branch at Whinmoor on our way to & from the Dales
I give it 5 stars because the cafe and coffee shop are great and they do a lovely range of food stuffs to bring home including gluten free. It’s a nice trip out and always lots to see. They have special events like Christmas previews, bonfire displays etc. Can be a bit pricey but nearly always buy something. Well worth having a loyalty card

Langlands Garden Centre is not just a place to buy garden materials & plants. It offers a diverse selection of products. It's a Aladdin's cave of gifts, clothing, furniture, food etc. They also offer a tasty selection of homemade in-house food & desserts that is worth trying. It's one of my favourite place to visit when I'm in the area.
Visited Santa this afternoon and can't recommend this grotto enough, the Elfs were very friendly and Santa himself was as jolly as can be , he spent a long time chatting to my son about his christmas list (a good 10 mins) which he wrote with the elf , then recieved a minature christmas tree and a toy, such good value for money .
Well done Langlands x
Fabulous place full of irresistible goodies. Food excellent, plants superb, lots of beautiful seasonal items plus everything necessary for the garden and for feeding the birds. The greeting on arrival is so welcoming and all the staff are so helpful. Love it.
Langlands Garden Centre - to visit Langlands should be on everyone's ' to do ' list . Excellent gardening products - Edinburgh Woolens clothes - delicious food to buy or to sit and consume on the premises , some superb events are held here and to top it all ...... lovely staff !
Never disappoints us,spent a few pounds on lovely Xmas gifts and had a lovely coffee and scone been several times we always recommend to people
I took my two little boys to visit Father Christmas today and really can't recommend the experience enough. Children spend time in Father Christmas's living room and get to chat with him while colouring festive pictures. They then have the traditional choosing a gift and sitting on his knee for photographs.
The organisation was brilliant and the children made to feel very special. We were particularly impressed with Father Christmas himself. He spent time with each child and had an excellent knowledge of all the latest toys. The experience lasted over half an hour and was exceptional value for money. Brilliant!
Good garden centre with a decent all-round product offer. Prices are what you might expect but there are also some really good deals if you look around. Great café on site with a good menu. Worth a visit.
Stopped off for a quick visit. This was a lovely garden centre with cafe. I had a beautiful steak pie with chips which was one of the best I've had it was perfect and well worth the money. The garden centre also had a lovely selection of plants, Christmas decorations amongst other things. I hope to go back again soon.
Lots of the same plants at the moment, not quite the right time for many of them, but a good display anyway. Couldn't find any staff around to answer my questions, only the ones on cashouts. I still enjoyed my visit, though.Everything was clean and tidy, although it looks as if they are preparing for plenty of new stock.
Really nice cafe (beauty scones) very filling. Gets very busy. Very friendly staff. One downfall - not dog friendly like other garden centres
Have been to Langlands on York Road many times. The cafe seems to have improved recently compared to before. The service is friendly but the cafe itself could do with a bit of a refurb. However the puddings are great - a good selection of old fashioned puddings that you used to get back in the day,all with custard and not expensive.
Popped into this York Road branch today 17/11, regarding a proposed purchase of an item I saw at their Shiptonthorpe branch. Although the website showed the item wasn't available here, I was extremely pleased to be advised that the item was in stock and available for delivery. This in turn saved me a hefty £50 extra in delivery charges. I thank Langlands for their assistance, expeditious advice and ordering processing, plus the very courteous customer care. I am more than pleased with the outcome, and sincerely thank all members of staff involved for your help. I now await notification of the delivery.
And to add 21/11 I have received my delivery. All I need to do is bolt it together. Thank you.
My car broke down and I managed to get it into the garden centre car park. I had several cups of coffee and a delicious fruit scone whilst I was waiting for recovery. The staff were so helpful and friendly. I will definitely be back in the future.
What a fabulous place, we.. Age Uk York, had a fantastic Christmas Dinner and Christmas Pudding meal today, thanks from all of us, for everything, was wonderful, we will definitely be back soon 😋
Very nice latte and hot chocolate. Staff are really nice and friendly. Prices not too bad. ,👍
Some plants to brighten up our new home. My partner’s family have been going to Langlands for years and as a first time visitor, I can see why. The centre has something for everyone and during lockdown there is a one way system and plenty of space to socially distance.
On busier days I’d expect someone at the door to make sure the visitor count it stable to maintain some safety.
Just popped in for a real Xmas tree stand. Best one I've ever had. Good quality, sturdy, nice to look at and ample size for a 7ft tree, plus you can add water to the receptacle. Only £25 too, so bargain as far as I'm concerned. I've had 2 or 3 over the years, but they've all went to the tip (metal recycling skip obviously 😜)
