My family are from Leeds and in all the years going to visit we never leave without taking fish home for tea. Family say we only come to Leeds for the fish, which I suppose is correct 😊 lovely friendly staff members, the fish is to die for and at such a great price, so now in Birmingham with my Yorkshire fish, mmmm amazing, thank you mermaid! Fish chips and a side for £7.80, bargain! Good portion of chips and top quality fish cooked to order, two cheerful ladies serving - all in all a top experience, definitely going again! I got a large fish as well not realising how big the regular is, that will be my supper later......

Went here yesterday lunchtime with a friend, and from the start, we were greeted and entertained by Sol who was very helpful. Service was second to none, and he was able to reaccommodate our original seating due to the sun being in our eyes - after a bit of tongue in cheek, mildly sarcastic humour, which I fully appreciated! The fish and chips were delivered quickly and were just as you'd expect - delicious! All staff were friendly and helpful. I'll certainly be going to the Mermaid again! Thank you!

We have recently moved away from Grimsby where the fish and chips were extraordinary.
We recently visitted my son in Leeds and fancied some fish and chips.
After looking at the reviews we went to the Mermaid.
Ordered 5 fish, 2 large chips, sausage in batter, curry sauce and scraps, the bill came to £33 very reasonable.
The batter was crispy, fish was soft and the chips were hot and fresh.
We were very happy with the meal and will definitely be visitting again.

Fantastic customer service, great portions for price and most importantly, one of the best Fish and chips I've had in the entire Yorkshire area. Take note that this is only a take away spot with very few seats outside, otherwise highly recommended.
