A fabulous place for the best Indian cuisine in Leeds! Amazing food and 10/10 service. The ambience is really nice and so are the cocktails at Dastaan. Have been to Dastaan Epsom too, a Michelin Bib Gourmand and a double Rosette winner. Both are superb places for Indian food in United Kingdom.
An Indian neighbor introduced this restaurant. We visited it for the first time, only to realize that Indian food can be so delicious. We will go there again, highly recommended
Beautiful decor with great starters. We had the paneer tikka, king prawns and chicken. For mains we tried the lamb rogan Josh, chicken curry, truffle naan and steamed rice. Staff did their best in relation to customer service.
Brand new place tonight and certainly did not disappoint. First time in years that everyone was able to order something new for each course. If you love Indian food and you live near Leeds, it's a must.
Dastaan it’s an proper classy Indian restaurant, a must go place. Dishes are full of Indian spice based which gives you homely feeling. The aroma of food is next level
Head Chef is a master chef semi finalist and went on to train under Michel Roux. So definitely an "upmarket" place. Setting was nice, and interior was good.
The menu was good, with great choice for all.. Our order.
Lamb Chop. Yes one lamb chop. At £10 per chop, it was a difficult order, but Lamb prices are through the roof right now, and the quality spoke for itself. Tasted great and was very tender.
Duck and Quail Sheekh Kebab. I thought it would have a nice Duck fatty element to it, but surprised by the lack of it. It was quite dry to be honest, but the apple chutney made up for it. I think that was the standout for the dish.
Lobster Dosa. The Dosa itself was thicker than Id like, and the lobster was just cooked on the same sauce it was served with. Good premise on the dish, but was just too 'same flavoury'. Probably would have preferred the lobster to have had a nice curry leaf element to it, and then the chutney too.
Methi Chicken. Nothing like what we would get down South, it felt like a chicken Tikka with Methi in it. Wished we ordered another dish instead, but not because it was bad, but because I was expecting something similar to what we would get in London.
Lamb Dum Biryani. Presented well, and they cut open the top at the table. Lacked that final omph though.
Blue Cheese and Cheddar Naan. It was good, if you don't like Blue Cheese, you can still order it. I wouldn't order it again as I wanted it to have that funk, and it didn't deliver.
Malai Chicken Tikka. I had it with the green chutney (more on that later), but it was effectively served with a guacamole and I wasn't a fan of the combo. The chicken however, on point. Super juicy even though it was breast, and a ton of char on it, just the way I like it.
Chutneys served with Papad. There was a garlic chutney 8/10, mango chutney 8/10 and a green chutney which was 10/10. Took me straight back to Mumbai.
Servers were very attentive and were happy to help us with our needs. Especially with 2 hungry screamy kids.
Overall:
Service 10/10, no faults to be honest.
Food 8.5/10.
Amazing Indian cuisine here that deserves all the praise. Alyssa was polite and always happy to help with a smile. The Pani puri and the samosa chaat along with the Piña Coladas were standouts.
Heard some good reviews and it definitely lived up to the hype. The meat on the lamb chops and chicken was insanely soft and juicy. The mains had exceptional flavour and the ras malai dessert was done well. The hosts and waiters were very welcoming. And Deepak was especially nice and helpful. His recommendations were spot on. My new favourite Indian restaurant. Deserving of the Michelin Guide recommendation!
Amazing food, really friendly and helpful staff. The Samosa Chaat is out of this world. The Naan breads are ridiculously good.
Professional, efficient staff who are friendly and welcoming. Lovely restaurant but slightly cold a little heat would be nice in this cold weather, apart from that the restaurant has lovely decor and is very clean. Tasty food. A variety of old school dishes on the menu would great!
Where do I start. I held my husband’s 50th Birthday party at Dastaan Leeds. The party was held in the venue upstairs and we were around 50 people. From the first meeting to the event on the day everything was done with such professional pride. Through the complete planning to finish the Dastaan team were extremely supportive. A very big Thank you to Chef Kailash who gave us such a delicious, mouthwatering spread. The food reminded us of home back in India. Bursting full of tastes, smells and aromas walking through streets of Old Delhi. The mutton curry, Butter chicken, Dal Makhani, Kebabs, Amritsari fish, Paneer and more were instant hits with everyone. And your Gajar Ka Halwa ( carrot halwa) was so beautifully made , just how my mom makes. Amazing food. And you took the time to come up and say hello to my family visiting which was such a lovely gesture. Thank you once again.
To the team helping us with the guests that evening - Dear Yash, Praveen, Akshit and Ayush, and another lovely lady staff member, THANK YOU. You guys are amazing! I had to think of something and you were a step ahead already on it. No glass was empty, welcome drinks were perfectly chilled and served, the starters and mains were piping hot and replenished. All guests were so well cared for. The cocktails and shots were a hit! You were on your toes. When you guys said you are our Dastaan family you surely took care of us like your family.
Lastly and most importantly a big thank you to the person who put it all together. Dear Tarun, can’t Thank you enough. The party was perfect and more fun than I could ever imagine. The birthday boy felt very special and memories were made to last a lifetime. You are amazing and am sure Dastaan Leeds will thrive under your management.
See you all very soon.
Thanks again,
Preeti
Nice ambience. Friendly, attentive, and helpful staff. A wide variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, some of these quite unconventional. And most of all, delicious.
We came here after we heard alot about dishes. Dastaan is located in Adel and it offers some limited car parking spaces
Pros good drinks I particularly liked the starters and the lamb chops were simply amazing, Well cooked and perfectly seasoned. The cocktails drinks were also made well and service was quick.
Con's the vinderloo dish was very mild, infact it was milder than our other curries and the Naan portion sizes were small.
All in all we enjoyed our visit and would recommend if craving a quality indian restaurant.
Popped in with no reservation, Saturday lunchtime, was doing a good trade but we were seated immediately.
Our server Victoria was very helpful in explaining and recommending dishes.
The food , atmosphere and service were all first class.
Will definitely return to sample the evening menu with friends.
Thoroughly recommend.
The food at this restaurant is different to most asian restaurants. I had a type spinach bharji and my wife has samosas. The bharjis were lovely but the samosa had quite a thick pastry around them. Although tasty they were heavy.
Mains were very nice. Prawn curry had plenty of sauce and big juicy butterlfied prawns. Lamb curry was tasty with tender lamb and lots of flavour.
Very nice evening and we qill go again.
Not the cheapest asain restaurant but was an occasion and worth it.

Went here tonight for dinner. We were three adults and one toddler. The staff were super friendly and professional. We ordered samosas, butter naan, rice, shrimp curry, lamb madras and aloo goobi. All were very good. The mango madness was a delicious virgin drink. We enjoyed the dinner and skipped dessert since we were full. The aloo was spicy as should be and very spicy hot. The shrimp had a wonderful flavor. Our friends live local and will be coming back and us too when in town!
Most authentic and proper friendly Indian restaurant in Leeds. All the staffs including Yash, the head chef and everyone are really really nice.
If you want to taste proper Indian foods (not Bangaladeshi or Pakistani. Although they were part of undivided India, they have a little bit different taste from proper North Indian food. I am not disrespecting anyone or any country, just expressing my own view), you can visit here.
After spending 1 year 8 months in Leeds, and tasting the foods of multiple so called Indian restaurant, today I felt that I was having the proper Indian food.
If you want to enjoy the drinks in Indian style, just request the chef to prepare the Peanut Chat in Indian style. The taste of your drinks will be increased 10 times for sure. 😄
Thank you Daastan for hosting us. Many thanks to its members and owners for opening such beautiful restaurant in Leeds.

Could be the finest Indian restaurant I've eaten at!
I am writing this because the the customer service was that good I feel that I owe them a good review.
Anything I needed to know about a dish I wasn't familiar with the staff explained in such clear detail what I was asking about. The naan breads and paratha breads were why I went and the quality of these are up there being a lover of Indian breads! I only had to wait a few minutes and quality was not comprised because of short wait.
We were offered a glass of water while we wait and they were immensely friendly to us they have inspired to do a full Youtube review based on their recommendations to ensure I make sure I show the best of what they offer.
The manager was kind enough to subscribe to our channel straight away which tells me he supports the channel without even saying he does which is simply amazing! He also introduced me to the chef I shook his hand firmly and sincerely.
Tremendous food, exceptional service and the atmosphere couldn't be any more comfortable so I HAVE TO give 5 Stars on everything category.
Dhanyavaad Thank you to all!
