Food range is good and at a very reasonable price. Generally a good range of beers available although the bitter can be limited.
Lovely friendly and helpful staff.
Sometimes it can be a bit loud so can be difficult to have a conversation.

Catered for our after wedding celebrations and they were fantastic from start to finish. Didn't have to worry about a thing, brilliant selection of hot food. Brilliant friendly service ! So helpful and cut up the cake, let us come the night before to set up the room. Just absolutely brilliant, couldn't be more pleased. Thankyou ! We will be back in for lunch soon !!!

First time in after the renovations and it's a really great place now. Lots of screens for the sports, friendly staff and good beer. Also helped with a fundraiser for a good friend of mine. Went above and beyond and helped raised lots of money.

We went to the Railway for a post funeral get together. Staff were amazing, food brilliant, hot and plentiful. Veggie chilie was lovely. An amazing afternoon to celebrate the life of an amazing person really well accommodated by the team at the Railway. Many thanks 👍

Really nice and clean local pub restaurant. The food is great, it's pub grub. It comes out nice and hot every time. If you can't be bothered to cook, get down there, I recommend the burgers, and I'm not a person who likes burgers, particularly.
The service is really good. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. They have entertainment on in the evenings. Friday night bands and quiz nights, too, just ask at the bar.

Used to come here regular before it was refurbed, been twice since and both times were good. Would recommend if you want good food for a good price.

Birthday meal for myself with family. Great service and great food. I can recommend the rump steak.
We have been several times and will be back soon.
In addition I have to say the way the staff looked after my 83 year old mother was perfect.

This is how pubs should be. A busy pub with well trained staff that are used to serving drinks/ food efficiently. Good value faire with a decent burger in the mix. An eclectic outside area with well thought out seating options. This is by far a decent pub and I will return.

There is always a warm welcome here. Excellent food. Freshly cooked and a very generous portion. I have something different every time I go. Very reasonable prices. I would recommend you book in advance as they are busy almost every night of the week. Highly recommended....

My food came out 10 minutes before my mum's to start with. All day breakfast came without bacon, cold burnt sausages, egg looked and tasted like it had been in deep fat fryer the hash browns just tasted of grease and the mushrooms didn't taste of anything! Even the toast was cold. I won't describe it but my mum's omelette wasn't much better either, extremely disappointed. However the lady that served us and gave us a refund when we refused to eat it, was very polite and understanding.

Terrible food, poor customer service and weak management, avoid at all costs!
We booked a family Sunday meal for 11 for a 2.30 sitting, this was our first visit to the Railway
Our first disappointment was being told that the Beef was no longer available, ok not the end of the world we will have either the chicken or lamb
We ordered 5 lamb, 2 chicken Sunday roasts and child’s nuggets, gammon, salmon and fish and chips,
You have to pay at the time of order, we then went back to our seats, about 10 minutes later the young waitress came over to tell us there would be a delay of around 30 minutes due to them being busy, again not the end of the world,
Eventually at around 3.30pm our food started to come out, the roasts consisted on mash, 3 roast potatoes (cooked frozen ones), stuffing that was rock hard, 2 Yorkshire’s, meat (very fatty and not great Lamb) and peas, no other vegetables on the plate, I asked the young waitress if there were any other vegetables available as not all of us liked peas (and there should have been at least 2 different vegetables with the dinner) to be told they have run out of everything else and peas is all they have! This should have been told to us previously as I would have had something else other than a roast
The food conitinued to be brought out except for one of the lamb roasts, we waited and then the young waitress came over to ask what we were still waiting for, we advised it was a lamb roast, she went away and then came back to us to say all the lamb had gone and would we like to order something else in it’s place, now bear in mind some of us had already started to eat, so we have no choice but to quickly order something else, - a gammon and chips was selected, in fairness this only took about 10 minutes to come out to us,
Now at no point did a manager come over to apologise or offer us a gesture of goodwill instead the poor young waitress was sent to us to inform us each time there was an issue.
When we had all finished she came over with an older waitress to take the plates away, most still of food as the dinner was terrible, dry, fatty not really acceptable. The older one asked us if we had enjoyed our meal – you can imagine our response.
We went up to the bar once the tables were cleared and asked to speak to the manager to which we were told no sorry he’s busy I will have to do (this is the lady who had cleared our plates)
We had to ask for the difference back for the meals as the gammon was £2 cheaper, and when we said that the service was unacceptable to wait until 10 meals had come out to tell us that the 11th meal was no longer available she said ‘it’s not just you the table over there had to order something else too’ and this matters to us how? I then said what about the vegetables ? if you had said there was only peas some of us would have changed out order to be told ‘yeah it’s been a bad day for us’ what sort of response is that?
So they completely mess up our family Sunday dinner and the manager cannot be bothered to come over and apologise, is unacceptable,
Needless to say we won’t be going there again and certainly won’t be recommending it to anyone

It's not a great local if you live 160 miles away. Unlike Christchurch, it's not a place you can enjoy harbour views or seagull noises. Unlike Christchurch, you can buy almost anything on the menu for less than a tenner, not be surrounded by overweight middle aged yuppies from the 1980s. You can buy a bottle of wine for £7.99, be served by Lisa or her blonde friend Rachael, who looks like Pink, and ponder the spiritual and metaphysical reasons for your being in Leicester on a Friday night. I wouldn't recommend a 160 mile trip from Christchurch just to be here on a Friday night, but if you live midway between Leicester and Christchurch , go here.
