Got there early. Really lovely guy saw us sat outside and made us a tea even though they weren't open. Naturally this caused a rush of people, further inconveniencing him as he was opening up but he went above and beyond for everyone. Excellent service.

Good tea and coffee. Indoor seating not available at time of our visit (September 2021), but limited food available at takeaway window, including the most gorgeous coffee and walnut cake! Spacious outdoor area with bench seating and bird watching seat and hole in wall looking across the water.

Lovely sandwiches and jacket potatoes with a great veiw. A nice walk from the newton lindford car park. Dog water bowls on site which was a nice touch.

Lovely location and affordable prices and great to support the park by visiting. At busy times the only downfall is long slow queues because of bottlenecks in the service. We ordered slices of cake and got drinks out the fridge but had a long wait for the slices of cake to come to us. Working chronologically works in some cases however at busy times personally you want to shift the smaller orders that only take putting things on a plate to keep things flowing. Also the card reader was holding the team back and could use getting a modern one that had a better mobile connection. Slow service was costing them money as we saw a few people get refunds on big orders because of wait times. Cracking effort by the staff even under pressure would be good to see them get some more support and look into improvements to help them along the way at busy times. Staff were polite and welcoming and can’t fault the food!

The new Deer Barn referb looked good but because of the weather we sat outside. The picnic tables are a little tired but they do the job and there was some shade in the form of 2 large umbrellas but don't think they would be safe in stronger winds. I was disappointed with the the lack of outdoor shelter which is an issue in the colder months. It would be great if there was an indoor dog friendly area. It was however nice to see plenty of bowls of water out for the dogs to drink. The paving stones and rough terrain outside the cafe are not great particularly for the disabled or elderly. It was also very dusty. As far as the service in the cafe goes it was slow with queues building up. The staff however were very polite and respectful. I think there were looking for more staff. Didn't really like the site of the burger van at the entrance it might be better located in the car park. I'm sure the food and drink was fine but it just didn't look good. Despite some negative comments the landscape and weather was fantastic, we'll worth a visit.
