Tasty food, very good portions, excellent price.
Have had better dishes elsewhere which is why it doesn't get 5 stars but I would still be happy to return and eat.
Servers are very good, friendly and quick.
Food came our quickly.
Busy and fun, though chaotic, environment but made for an exciting atmosphere

Loved Chai Paani! Authentic Indian food at really good prices. Would definitely come back again for Indian food. We had Pav Bhaji, Chhole Bhature, Paneer Masala Dosa, Papdi Chaat, Nimbu Paani, sugarcane juice.
Paneer masala dosa was average but the rest of the dishes were good.

I ordered takeaway for a small party at home, and it was delicious. All our guests praised the food, except for the chapati. I recommend using high-quality flour like East End or Pillsbury, even if it increases the price slightly. People won't mind paying for quality. Thank you for the fantastic food!

Great Indian restaurant in the heart of Belgrade road.
Northern Indian vegetarian food with great taste. The offer Indian and Indochinese cuisine.
Food tends to be quite spicy.
Very affordable place you can have a big meal for small amounts, specially of you go with more people and share.
Ideal to go with friends and family.

Love to go there when I'm in Leicester. Best for street food. Aloo pakoras are the best.

The food is great, all freshly made. Definitely has to be eaten in, I have had a takeout and it's just not the same. The food is probably more pricey in comparison to similar restaurants in the vicinity.
The service is fine, although staff are stretched thin at times.
The restaurant has a little odd layout and somewhat dated. There is space upstairs also. They have several awards on display.
The menu can do with a refresh.
The kitchen does look small and cluttered.
They also have a desert and tea shop a few doors away called messy which is newer and nicer feel and quieter, so easier to have a conversation.

Excellent service and fast. Good food, but I need to tast થાળી definitely next time for chaai pani.

You cannot fault this place, everything about them is superb and top-notch! The table availability, customer service, waiting time and the food, everything is at the highest level! Definitely one of the BEST restaurants in leicester!
We tried the Bhajia, masala mogo, masala dosa, dahi vada, M&M and bounty milkshake and the bhel! Excellent food! Definitely going back every time!

Still fast service. Portions felt smaller? Masala chips and mumbai sandwich were both great. Crispy bhajia were slightly dry.
2023 Update. Still Great Indian fast food without the frills. Prices have risen but quality and service is still great. Give it try.

We had a family lunch here and I must admit it's a restaurant we will be visiting again. Delicious food throughout. The service was with a smile and all the staff were very courteous. Definitely one to try out if you're in the Belgrave area of Leicester.

The food is really good, and if you speak to the staff they are really helpful about what is a good selection.
Due how busy they are always putting together tables or spitting tables to accommodate customers coming in.

This was my first time in Leicester and my first time at Chai Paani. It was recommended by many. The food was really good. We had fried indo Chinese vegetables and haka noodles. The vegetable dish was huge. I've never seen a portion of that size before. It was enough for 4 people. We had to take it home and even then in the takeaway container if it looked like we hadn't eaten any of it. It can get very busy. There is an upstairs that they open up at busy times. Everything we ordered was really good. The price was very reasonable too. They do loads of fancy shakes and drinks. The toilets, however, need tending too, and looks run down. They are a very popular restaurant and they need to put a little back into the maintenance of the place. I would have rated it higher if the cleanliness of the restroom was better. I have a service business myself, and maintenance and upkeep of the place is as important as buying stock for the running of the business. I feel a business looks at their ambience and cleanliness as well as their menus deserve more starts.

We have been to Chai Paani many times over the years.
The service is very fast. The food is fresh and hot. The breads like Naan, Parathas etc cooked at that moment. We have never been rushed to finish our food, but we are aware that there is a constant queue of customers waiting for a table. So have never lingered around too long after finishing a meal. Bear in mind that when you need a table you only have a wait a short time. This place relies on a quick turnover of tables.
The staff work very hard and would forgive an odd mishap. They try their best.

Masala dosa was tasty but my granddaughter had samosa chaat
It was absolutely disgusting , yoghurt seemed to be off , it was too sour but she was eating it thinking it must be like this it was only when I had a taste the yoghurt was all stringy and too sour , I told her to leave that and she shared my masala dosa , we didn't say anything because the place was very busy and waiters were all rushed of their feet . Will never go there for samosa chaat and will not recommend it to anyone

Just had a horrendous experience .
The staff’s telephone manners needs a serious check .Went in,
allocated a table , just ordered the food and was blantetly told your
meal will be with us in 20 mins and
we had to gobble up our food in
10 minutes and then get out because of their party . Was shocked to say the least . The owner was standing there yapping
and couldn’t care a toss !
How the hell have they been voted
the best restaurant for 2017 ??
Avoid it if I were you . Having travelled 30 miles and having to face this ?
Disgusting !!
Never again !!!

Not the best place, good size, service was ok, food was just about OK, expensive soft drinks, don’t know why people rave about it! I would never eat here again!
Shan Gill
Poor service tasteless food staff are backward freshies who haven’t got a clue and to top it of you can hear all the staff arguing from the kitchen and made to eat of plastic plates
Definitely won’t be going back
Rather buy a pot noodle and sit in me pants at home
Pragna Mahi
Very poor service, would definitely not recommend to anyone. This place expects you to eat noodles with your hands as no cutlery provided and then when mentioned they say you have to request it. WTF

Such a lovely place to relax and eat . I totally recommend this place , so worth a visit.

I wanted to share this experience in particular and ask if anyone has received such appalling service from a restaurant that has just been voted “The best vegetarian restaurant in Leicester.” I have never had to deal with such rude people especially being the owners!
We have been supporting Chai Paani since it has opened. We drove down from London to go and have lunch as a family. We asked for a table for 4. The waiter throws the menus on the table and walks off.
We then give our order and he explains how we cannot add more food to our order as the restaurant is really busy and it takes time to add this to the order. He then takes the menus away.
The food then comes out in no more than 2 minutes, which clearly meant it had not been made for our order! It was cold and stale. The chilli paneer was tasteless and chewy like it had been reheated in a microwave.
We were eating and had food in everyone’s plates and someone would come and ask if we were finished! By the 4th person we all got annoyed and handed our plates over. As soon as they took the plates, another waiter came and wiped the table and started setting up for the next customers. He didn’t even bother waiting for us to get up.
After paying (they only take cash why is that??) we mentioned what had happened to one of the owners with the other one standing right behind him, who walked off. He didn’t even apologise and instead he thought it was funny and couldn’t get the silly grin off his face! He was so rude. We then mentioned leaving a review to which his rudeness increased. He started waving his hands in the air and shouting and claimed we shouldn’t threaten him with bad reviews because many people have done so in the past. Well then maybe it’s time he does something about it? You should value every customer!!
I would just like to let people know about “The best vegetarian restaurant in Leicester.” Not sure how people can support a place like this... If it was possible to give less than one star I would!

I regularly visit this place and had no complaints. Definitely worth visiting. Quality food and fast service and reasonable price. Love it.
Shaileen Sidi
Mexican and Italian food which was on the menu was not available even though we went Friday early evening. Samosa chaat should be renamed yoghurt chaat as there was hardly any samosa in there. Terrible service even though there were 3 waiters stood just watching people rather than serving.
Never going again!
